VS 2008 Run As Admin Without Password On Windows 7
Jan 24, 2010
I'm working on an app that will only be used on Windows 7 and the user environment is very limited. Standard users cannot run exe files just by double clicking them. However, there is a bug that if you right click and click "Run as Administrator" on the exe, it runs without you needing to put the admin password in. So, what I'd like my app to do is sort of "emulate" this function on another exe. So the user clicks a button and it launches another exe by emulating the right click run as admin. Is this possible, without putting in the administrators username and password?
I am wondering if it is possible to read in the encrypted value of a Windows users password so I can preload a textbox with the value? I have a checkbox on my .NET form -> Use Workstation Logon. When the user checks this box, the username and password fields are populated respectively.
i have a script with a login form that creates a folder per user with username.txt, password.txt, firstname.txt, and lastname.txt. - auto creates when creating new user.after i log in and change form i want an label showing the first and last name of the person logged in,how am i supposed to do that? is there any way to make like an "admin" form where new account applies will pop-up when "admin" log in and then either accept or reject new users?
on XP Pro, IsUserRole(eUserType.Administrator) returns true, if the class is administrator, and false if it's limited...
On Vista, it returns true, if it's the first administrator account, and false for anything else... I created a second administrator account on Vista, and it shows in code as "Standard" (or limited) user, the same as if I made a "Managed Account" on Vista...
My #Region " [IsUserRole] " Public Enum eUserType Administrator = 0
I'm designing a system, whereby am unable to use 2 different login authorities, which are Admin and Non-Admin. I am using VB.NET and Ms. Access and need help for the codes.I want something like, if i click on admin/non admin (with different passwords) a dialog box pops onto the screen and asks for the password. If the password is correct it should take me to the form i want. Something of this sort please.
At the moment I'm working on an app that has a few buttons. I'd like to have one of those buttons launch an app (that will be included with the app I'm creating) as administrator. How do I do this? Is there a way to make it so that it can be run relative to my app (So it doesn't matter where my app is located, so long as the other app I'm trying to launch is in the same folder or a subfolder.)Also, I'd like to know if I could make it launch the other app with a sort of "virtual right click and run as admin". This app will only be used on Windows 7 and due to restrictions set on the PC's, you cannot run the apps just by double clicking on them. However, if you right click and select "run as administrator" the app runs, without any user input (ie. you have to put in the administrator's password). So in short, I'm looking to emulate this with code when a user clicks a button.
I've got an asp.net assignment where I'm to create 7 user's in the ASP.Net Admin Tool but when I open it up and click the security tab I'm getting the following error message:"There is a problem with your selected data store..." problem is, I don't even know what a data store is and VS has never had me select one... any ideas how to fix this? All my Asp.net apps work fine on this computer.
I'm running VS 2008 on Win7 Home Premium x64 and I did install SQL Server 2008 Express last night in case it's needed.
Does anyone know how to run windows explorer with an admin account while logged in with a non admnistrative account? i want to be able to open up an admin share on a remote host with windows explorer instead of iexplorer. I tried some code I found on the net to impersonate but it didn't work.
How could I make an Admin version to where my private airline's admin could could login and make new flights and change the color of the seats so that they are one color for taken and another for available.
sI'm trying to pass some parameters to OpenSSH to create an SSH Tunnel, but I'm not exactly sure how to do it, because the OpenSSH is running via a script which makes it run a admin. So basically I need to integrate these parameters:
I've encountered several scenarios when my application wants to delete an item, but is prevented from doing so by the operating system. So I've been wondering, is it possible to ask for elevated status after the application has launched? E.g. the application needs to delete a certain file, so it asks for confirmation and then deletes the file...
I'm having trouble getting my app to auto-start by adding a registry key. The problem it is having is checking if the user has admin privileges. I tried setting the thread principal, because before it would always return false when I tried My.User.IsAuthenticated, but when I check if My.User.IsInRole("Administrators"), it still returns false, even when it should return true. Here's my current code. This worked fine without even setting the thread principal when I was just creating a regular Windows Form.
AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetThreadPrincipal(New Security.Principal.GenericPrincipal(New Security.Principal.GenericIdentity("UserName"), Nothing)) If My.User.IsAuthenticated Then
is it possible to have my app protect a folder's files from being viewed by other users. like, if i set the command to protect a folder, then if anyone tries to access that folder will be prompted with a msgbox.
it probably means having a separate app loading at windows startup and constatly running in the background to make sure that folder isn't being accessed. so much work to do and so many choices to choose from...
I want to implement a password text box that will behave like the one we see in Windows 7 (ie, when there is no user input, then it will display a string 'Enter password', and when the user press any key, this string is cleared). I tried all the events like 'TextChanged', KeyPress', etc., but failed to get the result.
I have created a windows application. Now i am ready to distribute and install the program, but I want to have the user need a password to install the program. Like a product key that I could set per individual customer. Is there a way to do this?
I have already build a application where you type in your username and password and it changes it to the specified password. Now I want to make a "User password remover" application. (It should be the same as "Control PanelUser Accounts and Family SafetyUser AccountsRemove Your Password").
The program should check:
1) Which User is currently logged on and using the program.
2) Check if the User has a password.
3) If No then Exit the program, else Step 4.
4) If YES then allow the User to type in his current password, press a button and Windows should remove the password.
What is the code in creating a program that enables the built in web camera of the laptop when an intruder input a wrong password in the windows logon screen?
I'm writing a windows service in VB.Net and set the service process installer's "Account" property set to "User". So when I tried to install the utility using INSTALLUTIL.EXE it is prompting to enter the user id and password. So I wanted to suppress this "Set Service Logon" so added below code to ProjectInstaller.vb and I was able to do what ever I want: [code]
I have programs written in VB2005 accessing mdb database in server. When the server run XP, it was never a problem (at the time, the folder was shared to all). There is a new rule in the company and we have Win 2003 server, and my mdb file must be stored in a folder in the server that the administrator (not I) have installed password. And clients are supposed to access it as user only. I can ask password as administrator, but the users of my program must not have the administrator password (which I can included in my program if necessary). How can I modify my program so that it can access the database? I assume I must modify my connection string, but I do not know how. I am currently using this:
I am a SQL Server Developer and DBA. I have some experience in VB.Net (Windows Application) programming. I used to use .config to setup database user and password. I have a windows application running on my computer. I would like to check which username and password is used to connect to SQL Server Database.
