View 4 RepliesIn my program, I would like to make it so that when you press the start button, it does something else INSTEAD of showing the taskbar. How do I modify this code to do that?

I tried putting in start where it says enter, but that didn't work.
I am having a problem with my main form in the form load event. When the application is started, it loads a picture into a picture box and the form is resized to the dimensions of the picture box.
The problem is that the main form doesnt show up in the taskbar until it looses focus and then is focused again.
The problem is caused by setting the forms maximum size and the forms minimum size during the form load event. Does anyone know how to fix this? I know it would work if I made a hidden startup screen and loaded the main form from there, but I would rather not do that.
i am trying to develop a project for my academics...i.e, windows application s/w... how to get the thumbnail view(in win7 taskbar shows in that manner?) of all applications that are appearing on taskbar with code in vb ..
View 1 RepliesMy project is working well, without any problems and I just need to add another feature, if it is possible.I'm looking for a way to be able to have a Text Balloon (I'm not sure if this is the correct description or not) that will appear when the mouse curser hovers over an object in order to display text, letting the user know exactly what this particular object does.For instance, the text balloon would say: "Download Link" when the mouse hovers over a picture or maybe "Opens Software Window".In one case it does "Open" a new window when clicked on, but I need a balloon pop-up text to say that it will open a new window.

I have a balloon tool tip and want to show it as follows:
vb
Dim CompleteTooltip As New ToolTip With {.IsBalloon = True, .ToolTipTitle = "Title", .ToolTipIcon = ToolTipIcon.Info}
CompleteTooltip.Show("Click close to confirm changes", btnClose, CInt(btnClose.Width / 2), CInt(btnClose.Height / 2), 5000)
i would have thought if i specify that i want a balloon tooltip the point that i specify would be the point that the balloon points to - NOT the upper left point of the tooltip itself... how can i specify the balloon point rather than the upper left point?
I have tried to get a balloon tip working with the ShowBalloonTip method of the NotifyIcon.
My OS is Vista Ultimate 64 bit and after some research I found out that my OS may be the issue. I was just wondering if anyone could shed some light on this or if they have the same OS, try it for themselves.
Here is the code I have tried working with:
vb.net
Public Class Form1
Dim sp As New Stopwatch()
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click

How do I show timer countdown to a text label in form? I have the following code set up:
[Code]...
What I'm trying to do is when I click button 1, timer start countdown from 15 sec. I want to be able to show this timer in sec and millisec in form in a text label so the user can see how much time they have left. (example: 12.56 sec remaining)
If i have a NotifyIcon is it possible to owner draw the balloon tip for it?If not i was thinking it would have to be done this way:Work out if the icon is visible or not (as in not collapsed in windows vista / 7 / xp), and if not call ShowBalloonTip to force the icon visible then hide the balloon somehow. Work out the rect in relatio
View 1 RepliesI am using a Balloon tooltip to show the user which characters are invalid as a filename. I use the IO.Path.GetInvalidFileNameChars array and convert each character to a string, before appending it to a "Invalid filename characters:" string.
vb.net
If IO.Path.GetInvalidFileNameChars.Contains(e.KeyChar) Then
e.Handled = True
Dim str As String = "The following characters are invalid filename characters:" & nl
Dim invalidChars As New List(Of String)
For Each c As Char In IO.Path.GetInvalidFileNameChars
[Code] .....
The result is not pretty: How do I get rid of the 'non-visual' characters (they are probably newlines, backspaces, null chars, etc) so they don't clutter up the list?
I have a form in an application I'm working on that normally displays full screen without a taskbar but provide the option to switch to a minimizable window with a taskbar. When I switch from full screen without taskbar to minimizable window with taskbar everything is ok. When I try to switch back to full screen the border disappears but the taskbar is still there and the form is not aligned properly.The text at the top is cut off somewhat and there's a small margin at the right edge that shouldn't be there.I put this code in a keydown event for the form.
If Me.FormBorderStyle = System.Windows.Forms.FormBorderStyle.None Then
Me.ControlBox = True
Me.FormBorderStyle = System.Windows.Forms.FormBorderStyle.Sizable[code]....
How do I get the taskbar to disappear and the form to display properly when I return to the full screen mode?
Is it possible to show a different text in the task bar of Windows and the title bar of the application Window?

View 3 RepliesI saw an application for cashier system in a certain store. I noticed that while the application was running, the window form of their application occupies the entire screen and the windows taskbar seems to be hidden. I'm just curious how did they hide the windows taskbar? Do they hide the taskbar in a manual settings on their computer before the application was launched? If not, how did they make their application capable of hiding the taskbar? Please put a detail code if applicable. I just want to know how to hide the taskbar when you launch the application and put it back when you exits the application as well.

View 1 RepliesI'm working on a project with FTPwebrequest methods, the problem is that every time the program executes a FTP command such as download/upload/connect, It completely freezes the form. However I need a progressbar to keep the user updated of the download status. The only way I can see this working is applying the progressbar to a notifyicon(taskbar).

View 2 RepliesIn my program I want to add some values together with a running total, and then show that total in a text box. When I try to run it, though, it just shows zero.Here's the code I'm using
TotalPrice = TotalPrice + Price
Next
TxtLuggage.Text = TotalPrice
this chunk was a part of a For next loop.
Something annoying suddenly happened with a text box in a self made program in Visual basic 2008. Whenever I try to run the program, this text box shows what is behind the program itself. (For example my desktop background)
Not only that, if I click on it with the mouse, the window which is behind my application will pop up in front.
I tried to replace it with a new text box and a new name, in case I'd been messing around with some wrong properties, but the problem still remained.
I don't know why but text that should display in a text box, ALSO appears at the top of the form, where the title would be. Here are pictures of what I mean. The first picture is before the button to display the text is clicked. The title at the top is "Surrogates (20009)". The second picture is after the button is clicked and as you can see the text shows up in both the textbox and at the top.
View 5 RepliesAssume that there is a web site which includes 3 different pages. I want to show a text one of the pages randomly, with is formatted with css.
For instance the pages are below:
hello-world.aspx
hi-sun.aspx
good-night-moon.aspx
* When John enters to the site, the text will appear on hi-sun.aspx,
* When Elmander enters to the site, the text will appear on hello-world.aspx
And when one enters the page which includes a special text, even if come again, it shouldn't appear.
Psedue Code:
if(Session["first"] == "1"){
//show the text in a random page }
else {
//text.visible = false
}
In the if block how can I supply the text in a random page. (it shouldn't appear in every page, should appear only one page).
