The problem I am having now is, the form size is exactly the size of my screen resolution. This makes the bottom scrollbar cover up by the taskbar. If the taskbar is hidden then it could solve the problem but I cannot set all PC to hide the taskbar

After maximizing a form, if I drag the title bar, the form moves out of position. This seems to be normal in windows, since IE does it also, but can I disable this? so the form stays fixed and unmovable?

Below is a short section of code from an application I am working on. What I am trying to do is to get a counter value to show when the application is minimized. When restored back to normal state, the name string is applied. It works, but it takes several minutes to change, and then never updates again. Not sure what the issue is.
[Code]...
I also tried a direct string conversion in the "elseif" part. No difference.

I need to store the Location, Size and WindowState of my application when it is closed, so that it can be re-opened in the same state later. I thought I could use simple coding and the Settings to achieve this, but I noticed the PropertyBinding of the Form in a tutorial and decided to see if I could use it.

Note: I am working with Visual Studio 2010 Professional. Note: There are a lot of MDI Child posts, but none (that I have found) that apply to my scenario... Scenario I have an MDI form with a UserControl docked at the top. The UserControl is for navigation and is ~50 pixels in height. When I show a child form with its WindowState property already set to 'Maximized', the child form shows maximized in the MDI parent, but behind the UserControl.

I have a form which I want to keep maximized and all other forms to stay their original size. The problem that I am getting is when I open an additional form, it also maximizes even though I have set the form size to Normal. When I click on the Maximize button to put it back to the size it should be, the form that I want to keep maximized also reduces in size.

In my window class I want to keep things simple, and instead of setting (ex)style flags I want to add a "FormBorderStyle" property. These are the (Ex)Style enumerations:
[Code]...
What flags are set for, for example, FormBorderStyle.FixedSingle, Fixed3D, FixedDialog etc. I first tried by displaying the flags of an already known window, but when I set these flags it doesn't change the window to the state.

I have a form in an application I'm working on that normally displays full screen without a taskbar but provide the option to switch to a minimizable window with a taskbar. When I switch from full screen without taskbar to minimizable window with taskbar everything is ok. When I try to switch back to full screen the border disappears but the taskbar is still there and the form is not aligned properly.The text at the top is cut off somewhat and there's a small margin at the right edge that shouldn't be there.I put this code in a keydown event for the form.
If Me.FormBorderStyle = System.Windows.Forms.FormBorderStyle.None Then
Me.ControlBox = True
Me.FormBorderStyle = System.Windows.Forms.FormBorderStyle.Sizable[code]....
How do I get the taskbar to disappear and the form to display properly when I return to the full screen mode?

Here's the thing. I play EVE online, and I want to use my second monitor while having eve stay fullscreen on the primary.Currently, any time you click the second monitor, and EVE loses focus, EVE minimizes itself. Can I make a utility that forces the game to stay maximized at all times?

I have a dual monitor setup on my computer. My program has multiple forms. I've designed the program to check which monitor the main form is currently on and to open the secondary forms on the current monitor. When the main form is on the primary monitor the secondary forms open as FormWindowState.Normal which is the design-time setting for the secondary forms. If the main form is on the secondary monitor and I click to open a secondary form then the secondary form is to be displayed as FormWindowState.Maximised.
[Code]...
So I moved the Form.Show line to after the Form.WindowState line. This works fine when the Form.Show process is very quick. The problem is that one of the secondary forms downloads some information from the internet so it takes about a second to finish the Form_Load process. When I had Form.Show first the form would not appear on screen until the Form_Load process is complete, so the delay was in the form appearing at all which is how I prefer it. With Form.Show last the form appears on screen immediately but appears mostly blank and unresponsive until the Form_Load process completes.
I would prefer that the form not appear at all until the Form_Load process is complete but I would like it to appear in an already Maximised state. Is this achieveable? It doesn't seem that complicated but I just can't figure it out.

When I choose WindowState.Maximized from the properties toolbox, the form will open as maximized, but the icon that I chose does not appear... the VS default icon is shown. That is, until I minimize and re-maximize the form. Then, my custom icon is shown.
I want the form to open maximized. Is it possible to have the custom icon shown by opening the form this way?

I have an MDI Form that contains an MDI Child form. On this child form is a flexgrid. When the user double clicks on a row in the flexgrid this loads another MDI Child form. I have set the following properties on the second child form:
FormBorderStyle = FixedDialog
MaximizeBox = False
MinimizeBox = False
StartPosition = CenterScreen
WindowState = Normal
The problem is that if the first MDI child form is in a maximized state and the user double clicks on the flex grid, the second child form loads in a maximized state too! How can I stop this?

VS2008
I have an mdi form where the child forms need to maintain aspect ratio in normal state and have resize procedures that work well except with one form that appears to have a bug.
This form is the first child form opened, it is set as maximised in design and looks ok. If I then open another form on top, this maximised form, with a size of 1920x942, goes through my control resize code insisting it is in normal state and has a size of 1428x822. Obviously, when I close the other form the controls are wrongly resized/positioned.
I thought I might check the eventargs to test if the controlbox has actually been used and ignore otherwise but debug always reports that as empty. Lostfocus, deactivate etc don't trigger before resize so can't set a flag there.
why just this one form appears to be insane, or how I can distinguish between an intended resize and one just due to hiding by another form?

I just started VB.NET coding, and I think I come along quiet well. Offcourse, I get a few errors, but When googling it, I always come to dream.In.Code, so I thought I'd better register here.
Now, my problem is, that when I set FormBorderStyle to None, it looks so cool, but I cant move my form around in debug mode (Nor when launching my finished builded application)
Here is my whole Code in my application, as I dont know what parts I should post here:
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Button8_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button8.Click

I am using the software called Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition. I've created this calculator on my own, and the past hour I've been messing with the design. Right now I am wondering how I can move the form around, with the FormBorderStyle set to none (no borders (means no exit button, minimize etc. I made those myself )
What I'm looking for is that I should be able to press anywhere on a place that isn't used (black place) and drag it around. I forgot to mention another issue that I have. The textbox on the calculator accepts any signs and letters, how can I make it so it just accepts numbers?

how do i reshape a form with formborderstyle set to none?specifically i've kind of photoshopped my own frame and everything (and set it as backgound image), but i want to trim or curve the edges because the angles on the form look ugly.alternatively if there is a way to make the form's background color actually transparent, that could also work. but i prefer to trim the edges

Has anyone had any luck with having different window states with multiple open child forms?for example if you have a single child form opened and say it is maximized.then open a second child form as normal, the first form will then be set to normal.all the open child forms will mimic the newly opened forms state.and i believe they will mimic when making some changes to one forms state.the others will follow.i have not had luck keeping this from happening in most situations.

What I need help doing is: 1. How can I get my app to stick to the users taskbar? I know I cant set the position to mine because different screen resolutions etc, is it possible to do?
2. How can I make the draggable areas only drag left and right and not up and down?
