View 2 RepliesI'm trying to create an update form whereby if the user leaves the textbox (actionsTextBox) blank, then a default value of "no data entered" will be automatically bound to the textbox prior to updating the sql record. I keep getting this error: Compilation Error: Description: An error occurred during the compilation of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific error details and modify your source code appropriately. Compiler Error Message: BC30577: 'AddressOf' operand must be the name of a method (without parentheses). View 3 RepliesThis is a mix of C# and VB.Net. I have a C# class with with 2 delegates:
public delegate string GetSettingDelegate(string key);
public event GetSettingDelegate GetSettingEvent;
public delegate void SetSettingDelegate(string key, string value);
public event SetSettingDelegate SetSettingEvent;
In a VB class I add handlers to the event:
AddHandler _gisCtrl.SetSettingEvent, AddressOf SetSetting
AddHandler _gisCtrl.GetSettingEvent, AddressOf GetSetting
When I try and remove the handlers:
RemoveHandler _gisCtrl.SetSettingEvent, AddressOf SetSetting
RemoveHandler _gisCtrl.GetSettingEvent, AddressOf GetSetting
SetSetting is OK but GetSetting throws a warning:
The AddressOf expression has no effect in this context because the method arguments to AddressOf requires a relaxed conversation to the delagate type of the event.
Here are the methods
[Code] .....
How to fix this and why it is thrown in the first place? The 2 delegates/events/methods look similar enough that I don't know why one is OK and one throws a warning.
I have a sql select statement with something like:
select...
where column in (@Parameter)
In VB code a set parameter.defaultvalue to "65555,67803", But i get an error "Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value '65555,67803' to data type int."
I faced an error when upgrading VB6 code to VB.NET. The error occurs at AddressOf WindowProc
AddressOf expression cannot be converted to 'Integer' because 'Integer' is not a delegate type
My declaration for SetWindowLong is:
Declare Function SetWindowLong Lib "user32" Alias "SetWindowLongA"(
ByVal hWnd As Integer,
ByVal nIndex As Integer,[code]....
What is the reason for the error I get?
I have this code which populated my form;
Private Sub populateprojdetails()
Dim cmd As New SqlCommand
Dim conn As SqlConnection = GetDbConnection()[code]....
The Error I receive is "Error converting data type varchar to numeric".
I used the XSD.exe tool to convert XML to XSD then generate vb code behind for the XSD. It is giving me errors in the code even though it was auto-generated. I am weary about messing with the code since it was auto generated.

View 2 Repliesi was used to be vb 6.0. but now im starting with vb 2010 because 6.0 is old. but now i have a few problems with converting some things for my game that im making.
in 6.0 it was
modPlayer (module)
Public Player(1 To MAX_PLAYERS) as PlayerRec
Private Type PlayerRec
Name as string
Level as string
End Type
but this code gives in 2010 some errors; it says it should be structures right now?

i have a textbix in which the user is restricted to enter date in the following format "dd/mm/yyyy" .
then in code behind I am calling a stored procedure to which i am passing this date as a datetime parameter but i get an error
objCmd.Parameters.Add("@DateOfApplication", SqlDbType.DateTime).Value = Convert.ToDateTime(txtDateOfApplication.Text.Trim)
how I might cast convert this string date into datetime to pass to my stored proc
I am working with SQL and Vb.net. When I run the following function (shown below) an error is highlighted "Error converting varchar to numeric". Whats wrong with the coding that triggers the error..

Imports System.Data.SqlClient

When I debug this, I put the line break on that line and look at the Table Value, which shows 0, but I know that there is data for that time frame.
I have converted C# code to vb.net using the online converter tools.
Public Sub New()

Error converting data type varchar to datetime.rtfI am trying to learn ASP.NET using ASP.NET 1.1 with SQL Server 2000 for the database. I have created a Stored Procedure in SQL Server 2000 and the procedure to execute the Stored Procedure is in ASP.NET 1.1. The problem is that when I try to save a record, the date field returns the above error. I have ried to use the several solutions on the web without getting one to solve the problem.I am attaching the Stored Procedure as well as the ASP.NET code for some advice. I am also attached a word document containing the two procedures.

I don't understand where else it could be screwing up. I'd love to be able to keep it to a null value if it is one already, I'm just trying to get it to take anything right now and this is where I'm at.
Getting this error when updating a row via a gridview with a sqldatasource in Vb.net/SQL Server 2000. No matter what input (1/1/2010, blank, etc) I give it I can't seem to get it right.
Code before the input is passed to the sp:
Dim sqldatenull As DateTime
Dim DateVerify As DateTime
sqldatenull = DateTime.MaxValue

Im in the process of building a call loggin system and its finally been put on the server, but i keep getting the above error "Title" the first stage it goes to be authorised and when the authoriser auths it...it updates the table with the date they authorised it. which is fine, the next stage is the Business Analyst where they check all the content of the task and then approve it but for some reason unknown to me it keeps falling over on the .dateAuthorised
My Sql Column to hold the date authorised is a Datetime datatype and im converting a string to a data time within the procedure this is my Code behind page

Dim CurrentStage As Integer = 51
ITUpdateTaskTable.Add("@spWorkID", Replace(TskNumLab.Text, "LC", ""))
