VS 2008 Data Logging To Database With Timer?
Feb 27, 2012
i'm using a timer to open a database and drop in a few fields of info, such as date, time and 3 traces.
the timer interval is set to 1000msec, but after its been running for a day or so, i've looked into the data and i can see there are periods where no info has been logged. sometimes its as little as a couple of seconds, and other times its upto a couple of minutes.

I have a data logging application that stores data in a table in a MySQL database. Data with a TimeStamp is logged into the table anytime the data from the sensor changes. This means that there maybe 2 seconds between data points or there maybe 20 seconds between points depending on how the data is changing.
When I need the data I have 2 dates and use this command to fill a table..SELECT FROM myTable WHERE timeStamp > date1 AND timeStamp < date2 This gets all the data that has a TimeStamp between the given dates, but in most case the first date in the returned table will be after date1, so I need to get the data from one row before the date returned in the table to know what the data was at date1.How can I get the data row that immediately precedes the returned data set?

I am fairly new to VB.NET and I am working with an service that implements a timer. The timer action will do some work and then log success/failures to the event log. I am noticing that each time the event log is written to the memory usage of the executable shown in the task manager increases. It does not increase by much, maybe 20k or so. Is this expected? The code below is an example of what I am doing that is causing the memory to increase.[code]......

I've made an application and it connects to my database. But the issue is the details of the database can be found out through packet logging or something. How can I stop this from happening and secure it, without having to have a third party such as PHP script etc.

Hi how's it going. In the middle of coding a banking application for a project. Part of it involves mortgage interest repayments. Was wondering if there was any way of logging the time a new record was created and added to the database and then adding interest to the balance owed periodically every 30 days..

For the past year-ish i have pretty much mastered the httpwebrequest function of programatically logging in to 1 of my websites to retrieve data, while it works well i was thinking about the webbrowser function, would i be better sticking to the webrequest route? it looks like the webbrowser requires much less code which is good lol can the webbrowser do everything httpwebrequests can?

I can log into a website great using the webbrowser function then have the fields filled in and the submit/login pressed, i am now trying to do it so i don't need to use the webbrowser function, ideally what i intend doing is grab a piece of information once logged in.i have searched a lot and i know i need to use webRequest and webResponse for this, the part i'm having trouble with is how to deal with posting the actual data to the website, in the webbrowser way you can see the input fields filled in for you but i'm not sure how to post the data this way?

I'm writing a VB.Net app using SQL Server 2008. I want to use exception handling but it appears that the way to do that in SQL Server 2008 has changed. I've read about a configuration console to create an exception policy for my app. Where do I find this configuration console?

As of now I have the POST data down and am sent to a 'Redirecting..' page. Here I am able to grab some data from the HTML that will be required in future requests. It seems that now, however, I need to authenticate myself.Packet sniffing the data, here is what I need to imitate for a successful login:
HTTP/1.1 302 Moved Temporarily
Set-Cookie: GoogleAccountsLocale_session=de
Set-Cookie: SID=DQAAAG0AAADLKo0PYiFiKAFeYWFSWc8CDvKmmRDmpLLQlmkK0VgnaSxNeLk1FH9rZZ_ztotu-
[code]....
Bolded are the pieces of data which I can extract, underlined is the one I'm not sure of.Anyway, how can I go about setting these cookies to an HTTPWebRequest (well, multiple requests but just the one object)?

Is it possible to insert/put a Timer inside the Database?Let say in my Database/Tables i have MemID, Name, Membership Date and Status (Active/Expired).for example MemID [ 1 ] Name [ Juan Paolo ] Membership Date [11-17-10] Status [ Timer ]in Status is it possible to save the time even while the program is close?..or code like if MemID 1 reach 2 Days all of the information of MemID 1 will be clear and Status will become [ EXPIRED ] , while timer is running the Status is Active, and if the Timer Reach 2 Days the Status will become [ EXPIRED ]

Im currently writing a sort of Tamagotchi game or "virtual pet". It's really basic, it runs on timers and has a health meter, hygiene, happiness etc. The problem I have is when the program is closed it obviously resets the properties back to the origional settings. Is there a way I can save the state of the program so when the user opens it back up it is as the same as of the point when it was closed?[Just had an idea, would I set a timer to periodically save the value of the variables to a database and then have them load the next time the user opens the program, for example if the health was 50% on closing or at intervals it would save the health into a column in a db table then when the user re opens the program call that db?]

I currently have a program that, when I select an option from a drop down menu, will transmit a character to a microcontroller. I then have to click another option after 10 seconds to send another character. What I would like to do is modify this program to transmit one character for a period of 10 seconds, then transmit another value for another 10 seconds and so on for a defined period of time, say 30 seconds in total.
