View 3 RepliesI have a data logging application that stores data in a table in a MySQL database. Data with a TimeStamp is logged into the table anytime the data from the sensor changes. This means that there maybe 2 seconds between data points or there maybe 20 seconds between points depending on how the data is changing.
When I need the data I have 2 dates and use this command to fill a table..SELECT FROM myTable WHERE timeStamp > date1 AND timeStamp < date2 This gets all the data that has a TimeStamp between the given dates, but in most case the first date in the returned table will be after date1, so I need to get the data from one row before the date returned in the table to know what the data was at date1.How can I get the data row that immediately precedes the returned data set?
Using visual studio (Winforms) with sql server (R2). If you can login by inserting the correct values in the textfields (vb.net) that is connected in the database . How do i code the log out?

View 2 Repliesi'm using a timer to open a database and drop in a few fields of info, such as date, time and 3 traces.
the timer interval is set to 1000msec, but after its been running for a day or so, i've looked into the data and i can see there are periods where no info has been logged. sometimes its as little as a couple of seconds, and other times its upto a couple of minutes.
I am using Visual basic express 2010. I have a set of data in a text file and I want to read that text file into the visual basic and create a chart. I am able to import the data into visual basic but I don't know how to use that data and create a 2d line graph from that data. [code]What I want to do in visual basic is create a chart like the chart created by microsoft excel.

View 3 RepliesI have created a function to create a string to populate a y axis with data:
Function talktosql() As Double
Dim ConnString As String = "Data Source=MARK-WORKMSSMLBIZ;Initial Catalog=Yahoo_data;Integrated Security=True"
Dim SQLString As String = "SELECT [RDSA.L] FROM yahoo_data.dbo.XLON"
Dim SqlDataAdapter1 As New SqlDataAdapter(SQLString, ConnString)
[code]....
so it should for example come out like this:
Dim yValues As Double() = {55.62, 45.54, 73.45, 9.73, 88.42, 45.9, 63.6, 85.1, 67.2, 23.6}
I cannot seem to get the data from the function into the right format to populate "yvalues".(the msgbox that I put in at the end in the first code renders the result "0")

I am wondering how one would go about using the graph control to display a bar graph that shows trends from my database.They are rather easy trends. I am building an industrial issue tracker and I would like for it to show how many issues were submitted each month for the last 6 months and also how many issues in the last month were of certain types that are categorized in my database.

I cannot figure out how to incorporate the number of days into the input box then get it to loop and count the number of times the User inputs in the number of days. Then I have to incorporate it into the equation to get the total distance D = MPH * Hours. What I have right now wil not count up the number of days and locks up after I input one number and will not add anything to the listbox. Because I also have to make sure that they cant add nonnumaric values and the number of hours per day cannot exceed 20. I have put things in and taken them out but it has been 2 days and I am lost now

View 1 RepliesThis isnt the first time i have posted about a graph, last time i was posting about which way i should do it, now that i have created the graph (by drawing individual lines) i was wondering what the easiest way to actually get data from a SQL database and output it as a line on a graph. here is a picture of what the graph looks like (bottom of the page) [URL]

I am trying to plot a set of data using a function I have defined as an array:
Private Sub calculate_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles calculate.Click
range(1) = min.Text
For i = 2 To 100
[Code] .....
Range(i) I want to be my x values and fee(i) to be the y values. When I try to select range() and fee() as the x and y values for a series, I get an error because they are not of type double.
I'm currently trying to use ZedGraph to plot a graph based on some data I have extracted from a machine, with reference to a user entered "Frequency" range. I has to be a line graph, with Frequency on the X-axis, and extracted data on the Y-axis. There are 4 channels for the machine, but all data values extracted are close to each other, so multiple Y-axes are not needed. I'm also trying to do it within a class, and the graph should only be drawn when I click "Button3", otherwise there would be no data anyway and button2 extracts the data.
Below are my class (the graph code is at the bottom) and form1, which button3 should call the class, but I'm stuck for both the button interfacing and the class writing. I have also attached the output I get so you can have a look at what I need. Open it in Excel to see the format. The whole program is also attached as a text file if you prefer it that way.

Is it possible to create a graph by using data from a database?
View 2 RepliesThere is String.Format function that is referred to in the documentation as the analog for Format function from VB6. There's also Format function from VisualBasic namespace that is provided for compatibility and basically has same powers as String.Format.Indeed, those two format dates and numbers.But VB6's function was also able to format strings:[code]String.Format is not able to do that, as far as I'm concerned, nor is the new Format. I also couldn't find any mention in the compatibility Format documentation that certain parts of VB6 functionality is lost, seems like the feature was deprecated "silently."Is there anything in the framework that can do this type of formatting?

While scrolling large PictureBox inside smaller one the graphics that are drawn on large PictureBox get erased.I would like to use a kind of off-screen buffer technique to cache all the drawing operations and to repaint the "dirty" parts of the view if necessary. View 2 RepliesIhave written a Visual Basic program to read serial data from an Atmel micro-controller that monitors a solar panel and a wind turbine. I have used a label box to display the digital data from the serial port and all works well.The data from the micro-controller is formatted like this (Battery voltage XX.XX) (Solar voltage XX.XX) etc.I would like to add a analog meter with a 0 to 24 scale to the program that will display the value from the micro-controller but am unable to find anything listed in the help menu of Visual Studio 2010.I have used the terms analog meter, meter and instrumentation in the help menu to look for a template but nothing comes back.Can someone either point me to a visual studio 2010 meter template and or some sample code or best of all.
View 2 RepliesI've been working on some code to add together input from an input box to make a string and display it in a message box. I've put the code in a loop so that it will add all input into the string until nothing is entered in the input box.
Dim stringInput As String
Dim message As String
Do Until stringInput = String.Empty
[Code].....
All I get is just the last input entered to show up in the message box and none of the previous entries. How do I get all the input to be added together and show up in the message box?
