[2005] Multi-Dimensional Array/Item Structure?
Mar 9, 2009I'm currently trying to make a vocabulary/flash-card program so I want an array that can store multiple values per item. That way I can shuffle the "cards" (array items) while keeping the word, definition, and part of speech on the same "card". So if I where to access the array I would want to be able to do something like this:
Dim vocabList as VocabArray
vocabList(0).Word = "blah"
vocabList(0).Definition = "blah"
vocabList(1).Definition = "blah"
And then if I where to re-arrange them the properties would remain together but just in a different spot of the array.I can get really close to this using an Item Structure and declaring the variable name with () but the problem is I have to include a number with () and I need to be able to add infinite values to the array, I can't have a set number.Also I would prefer to make it like an ArrayList as it has .Add, .RemoveAt, .Insert etc. In normal Arrays there's no easy way to add, you have to resize and stuff.
Anyways here's close to what I want, but I can't have a set amount and I'd prefer the ArrayList structure so I can just have like Array.Add and then have a Item added onto the end with 3 variables on it. The only thing is that with .Add you usually put something in paranthesis after it to denote the value to add, but if I have 3 possible values then I would have to have parameters for it or something, like .Add(Word, Definition).

May 25, 2012Regarding my college project. i'm working on a sales system . i have a form which consist of all the following information( item code , item name , item price , quantity of item ) which is display using a data grid . data input by user using text box and all this information will be stored in a database(sales database) i'm using ms access 2007. the grand total will be displayed in a text box . and amount paid will be input in a text box too , my major problem now is how to i create a reciept that will have all this information of the purcase. i have a reciept button . what the next step ? i dont have any idea how to get the reciept done.

Sep 18, 2011this is going to be hard to explain but ill try. Question 1. Ok i have a list box with a few items, What i want for this example is to click a button and it will start on the first item and do: MsgBox ("this is item blah blah blah") then after that it will go to the next item and do the same and then the next and so on untill all have been done. The "blah blah" should be the item so if item was to say "hello" then the msgbox would say "this item is hello" I know this would be a lot of msgboxes to close, like if 50 items then thats 50 msgboxes to close, this is just for the example.
Question 2. Ok this is where ive tryed to learn but find it really hard (multithreading) Im wanting all to be multithreaded so all work at the same time, ive tryed a few times but the only way i see it is having a **** load of subs, like if i want it to use 10 threads then ill have to add the same code 10 times or somet, im not sure.
i have attempted all this and failed big time as my way was to get the first item and use that then remove it from the listbox BUT... with it being quite fast the 2nd 1 and 3rd 1 used the same item befor it was removed and to be honest i dont really want them removed. so my attempts took like 2-3 days that was a waste of time really. I Know this is a lot to ask but im in real need of it and these 2 things have driven me half mad.

At the moment it reads in what I have in a text file, splits it up based on where commas are placed and puts the split data into an array, i.e. if the text file is a,b,c it will split up the 3 characters and put them into an array.
What I want to know is, is it possible to write each item from the array into a new TextBox - in the same way that It adds 1 to the 'i' variable each time, except with each new item the TextBox it uses goes up by one, i.e. 'a' in TextBox1, then 'b' in Textbox2

The way I do it at the moment is like so:I have a method that I call each time I want to check to see if an object exists in the list (if it already exists I do not want to add it again) and the list to check is passed in to this method along with the item that should be added to it:

So as you can see this function just loops through the list that was passed in and if the DisplayName property of one of the items in the list is the same as the ProgramName argument that was passed in to the method as well then it returns True to indicate that this program is already in the list.I thought about using a Predicate with the List.Find method but cant see how I would get it to work because that predicate method will not have any way of referencing the list (its a method local list, not class level)
