i'd like to find/filter listvew item as i type in a textbox, the listviewitemfind doesn't seem to work whe i try it.is this possible without looping through all columns and then all rows?

-column 1: a checkbox to select the items
-column 2: the ID of the record (but the width = 0 so you cant see it)

I have this list view (which is working fine) and i want to find an efficient way of populating it in a specific order, ie by date, by identity etc.
I know i can use linq but as i understand this is inefficient. If m_batchs is a large list of objects then i will looping through this list many, many time (as linq behind the scenes loops through the object collection).
How can I add all the items of a specific column of a listview. For example I had a listview of a class like:

With listTasks.PointToClient(New Point(e.X, e.Y)) you could use listTasks.GetItemAt(p.X, p.Y) to get the ListView item you're over. Is there something like this for Groups? Or perhaps a better way to determine what group is the target of a drag-drop?

View 2 RepliesI'm writing an application to help manage an employee database. It displays the current entries in a ListView control using the SELECT FROM sql string and allows entry into the database using the INSERT INTO sql string. What I want to do is have the user select an item from the listview and be able to delete it from the database. How I'm trying to go about it is by detecting when the user presses 'Delete'. When they do, the program gets the string value of the item, hands it off to a variable, and the variable goes into a DELETE FROM sql string and deletes the row in the database.
I have multiselect disabled in the control so only 1 selection is possible at a time. I don't know how to detect the Delete key or how to get the string value of a listview item into a variable. If I know how to do these two things, I can work out the rest of the application. I'm still kinda new at this kind of stuff, so any responses will have to be dumbed down a little.

there's a list-box with items, and say you want to modify an item in the middle of the list. You select that item and click "Modify" button and a new form appears with the previously selected item data from first form ready to be modified in a text-box. After modifying and clicking Ok the second form suppose to return that modified string to the first form and insert the modified string into the same spot instead of the originally selected item, so it looks like it was edited to the user.

I want to be able to assign a background color for each item in a listview with a predefined string or other variable type, so when item's are added to the listview and they contain a specific string, the background color for that item will be changed to the predefined color which is stored in a string (or other variable). It even indicates if the string I'm seeking is in the middle of a line. But what I would like is for the routine to highlight the line that that string is in and ensure visible. I can do that with another routine that uses an integer, but then the whole string(line) has to be the searchString. I've tried combining the two and even calling a Private Sub but with no success:(What is the best way to do this? Also, how do you get around doing it when the searchWord in in several lines?
