VS 2008 - Find Control By String Name Within Form
Sep 8, 2011I need a function that returns a control within a form based on a string name. I've tried Jim's method here, but then found out that it will not work with SplitContainers. Therefore, I feel like I need to use a recursive function, or maybe a stack. I've tried many different examples online, but I can't seem to get any to work.
This is the code for the latest try, as taken from here:

VS 2008 Make A Loop To Find All Texboxes On A Form?
May 14, 2009I'm redoing a program I made up a while back and need some help changing a loop. The original program had all the text boxes on same form, the redesigned program still has them all on the same form but I have them spread across multiple tabs and the background of the form.
The code below loops through each possible text box and if it exists sets the value in an array. This only works for text boxes not on tabs. I found I could change the Me.Controls to TabPage1.Controls and that would get the text boxes on tabpage1. I would like to have a single loop that can find them on any tab and off the tabs, so I don't need three separate loops.

VS 2008 Does FIND Always Find Within The FILTER Of A Binding Source
Jun 8, 2009I've got a form - CMCConsole It pops up a dialog form for adding a new case.If the matter number in a textbox on that dialog form matches an existing cases matter number I would like to find it in the binding source of the CMCConsole form

But it appear the filter for the CASE we were just on that is set on the binding source is keeping the FIND from seeing other cases.

Do I have to clear the filter in order to find a matter number in some other case??

May 17, 2012I have a form that has a tabcontrol (TabControl1) and within that tab control is another one (TabControl2). I have textboxes on the main form as well as in each of the tabcontrols.
In my savebutton event I have the following code:

What happens is that it records those textboxes that have changed and writes it to addendum.text. The problem is that it is only capturing those textboxes on my main form and none of the textboxes that get changed within TabControl1 or TabControl2.

This code sets a control variable to the currently active control, then copies the text from that control into it's matching "Formula" field for reference by the user), then turns the string of math into the answer. For example, if the user enters 5 + 4, that will be copied to the Formula textbox, then it will be evaluated and the answer will replace the 5 + 4. And lastly, the UpdateTotal sub will execute which will add this answer to the existing Total field.

Jan 27, 2012I am currently making an application to aid me in testing another separate application (both are made in VB.NET). I want my tester app to be able to enter info in a form on my other application. Since I have familiarity with both applications, I know the name and everything about the form I want to do things with on my testee app. My problem, is that I need a way to use this information of the testee form to get a handle or something that I can actually reference that form with in code for my tester app.
How can I go about getting this form? my only experience with something similar was getting the handle of a main window of a process, but that was a bit easier by doing this:

However even that I am not really happy with because it needs to iterate through every process. and even from this, I am not really sure how to reference my specific window, since it isn't the main window in this case. I have tried searching for how to do this, but my search is a bit too vague I think as I just don't know what methods are available to use to do this or assist in doing it.
my first thought was something similar to above but with something like "for each form as forms.form in 'forms.formsrunning'" kind of thing, but I don't even know a command to get forms running, and though I guess I could probably find one, I am hoping for a better solution than iterating through all processes/forms.

I thought this was a useful way to back up my project via email because it's in text form. But now I can't find the same information. I've looked in the Object Browser but couldn't find it anywhere. I think I stumbled on it the first time by right clicking Go to definition, but now that doesn't take me anywhere if I click on say form1.
