I want to load an xls file to dataset, edit the data, and import them in mysql. My problem is that I can't load the file. It seems like it ignores the file completely.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmd1.Click
Dim MyConn As OleDbConnection
Dim myPath As String = "C:TempManinLottery2009.xls"
I am creating XML files and load them back again. I use this following code to write xml to a folder. the code below will put date and time to the file name. and this code works fine.[code]...
Again, I want to load the last xml file back and put in a dataset. I normally write code like [url]...
I have a comma delimited text file. I need to write this file to xml. I was thinking of first loading a dataset from the text document and then working from there. Is this a good way to go about it?Also how would I load the dataset from a comma delimited text file. The text is enclosed in quotation marks which I want to be removed
I have created a local database using the DB wizard in 2008 express.I have created a table called users and I can access the sample data that I have entered into it using a windows form. When I try to add a new record things come unstuck. The record shows in the windws form as being present and the record count increases to indicate this. But when i check the DB itself there is no sign of the record.I am using the tableadapter method as outlined by MSDN. So the question is what am i doing wronghere is the code from the form:
Public Class frmS4 Private Sub UsersBindingNavigatorSaveItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles UsersBindingNavigatorSaveItem.Click
I have the following function: Public Shared Function GetLookupTableData(ByVal TableName As String, ByVal WhereClause As String) As DataTable
[Code]...
With one xml file it loads the schema and data just fine, but with another xml file it only loads the schema and not the data. There's no error thrown - just no data loaded.
Anybody have any ideas? I've attached the .xml file for your review. I would have attached the .xsd but the system wouldn't allow it.

so what I want to do should be pretty simple. I've been following the examples found here Using the BackgroundWorker Component - VBForums . I've been successful, but I'm not smart enough to put it in my project.
What I'd like to happen is this
1. I hit a button to load data from a dataset....
2. have a progress bar show until this action is complete.
The main problem is that I can't figure out how to tie the "progress bar" to the action of "pulling the dataset"
I'm sure this is a crazy question for you all, but hey...
Would I put all of the coding in the button_Click sub?
WebBrowser1.Document.GetElementById("fieldname").SetAttribute("value", (TextBox4.Text))How can I add something to the end of this? So it is like "Textfrombox WhatIwanttoadd"
2. If I have a .txt file, how can I make it load a line from that file? Then repeat this using a different line from the .txt file?
I've had a vb.net application for quite a while. Today, when I tried to load a form (one of many in the app) in Design mode, I got the error: "Could not load file or assembly 'Interop.MSMAPI, Version=1.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified." This form is the only form using msmapi, and the only one that won't load in Design mode.I can edit the form's code, run the application, and deploy the application. But I cannot access this form in Design mode. It's been a few months months since I've opened this form in Design mode, but it worked last time I tried it.
I have an image and I have a method that when you click the image it draws an ellipse I am wanting to save the x and y coords to file and then reload them (maybe later on be able to click the ellipse in future to delete them) and I have no idea how i could do this if anyone could start me off or point
I am looking for some guidance with the most optimal or efficient way to export a dataset to an excel file. I have searched the forums and found a number of methods to do this. However, the code I am currently using is very inefficient as it is itterating through the rows and columns to create the excel file. The app I am working on needs to be able to create 50 or so excel files each with 500+ rows and 40-50 columns. This method seems to inefficient for my use.
I have seen some code out there to use an ODBC call to excel to create the file. I am wondering if someone can verify that this is the most efficient way to meet my goal. It should also be noted that after the export I will want to do some basic formatting of the sheet. Adding bold column headers, autofilters, and autofit all columns.
I've only dealt with firing a single SQL statement at a SQLServer table and returning a single result... easy....
however....
is there a way to fire a dual sql command and load the results into respective tables within a dataset?.. I'm thinking something along these lines (this code of course does not work)
Dim ds As New DataSet Dim dt1 As DataTable = ds.Tables(0) Dim dt2 As DataTable = ds.Tables(1)
I installed VB 2008 Express on my laptop. I have Net. Framework 3.5, and whenever I try to run ANYTHING. I get the following error: "Error while trying to run project: Could not load file or assembly 'Windows Application1' or one of its dependencies. The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest." I've tried renaming the project, the rootname, and I've reinstalled it like 9 times. Any ideas?
I'm basically just trying to load a small test.html file into a web browser (so any javascript works and the page can be manipulated) i'm not sure the easiest way to do this.
I dont know how to dynamically populate a dataset based off the tables in an existing database.Once I can get the dataset to populate, I can then move forward with the next step of the project.
In the below code, it is supposed to load the data from the dataset, into the table, so that I can view and navigate the records. My problem is, that when the statement runs, it errors with:
System.Data.ConstraintException was unhandled "Failed to enable constraints. One or more rows contain values violating non-null, unique, or foreign-key constraints."
I'm still in my novice stages of .net development, and I think I may be trying to make something too complicated. In VB.Net 2008, I'm using a SQLDataAdapter to Fill a dataset with records being returned from a Stored Procedure (SQL Server 2005).I'm using that dataset as the datasource for a gridview. Up to this point, everything is great and I understand what's happening.I'm getting ready to make my first-ever attempt at updating the data in thegridview and then pushing the updates back to the SQL dB.Here's where I'mgettingconfused...to cut to the chase, what's the simplest way to load the updates back into SQLServer?
One form of my program is Item Development it has simple questions like Physical propertys of item, name, roll in story,etc.. I want to save this form (Form1 and all of the external anwsers that are written in the textbox and the radiobuttons that are selected! Next question is to load that.... The code
I crate program with Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition. And it works about 2 days. Then it get error:
--------------------------- Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition ---------------------------
Error while trying to run project: Could not load file or assembly 'airGreenClient (aGC)' or one of its dependencies. The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest.
I get that error when I try to run my Project, it was working fine ago, it just stopped working all of a sudden Error while trying to run project: Could not load file or assembly 'Project1' or one of its dependencies. The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest.
I release an application and one of the end-users is telling me that they get this message:
See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

The way that reads to me, there is a problem with their .net framework? Am I correct, or is there a problem with my code? I can't reproduce the problem, and many other people use the application with no problems.
I am having trouble loading and displaying my .rdlc report file in my reportviewer. I've been all over the internet and nothing worked.I think it might be because i am using vb.net 2008.
Also I am wondering if there is a click event in Microsoft Reports or in Crystal Reports where I can link certain data in my report to other files in my project, eg. form2.vb
