VS 2008 Make Path To USB?

Aug 13, 2011

I am trying to create an autorun.inf for my external hard disk, the autorun will start a multi choice application I designed using Visual Basic and Visual Studio 2008. Since USB drives may assign different drive numbers to the hard disk depending on the number of used usb slots in the pc. I would like to know if there was a code like (curdir) or something similar to that, that would load the pictures with the usb drive letter. that is how I can dynamically change the path to the usb

VS 2008 Make Picture Box Move Along The Path?

Jun 24, 2009

As seen below in the screenshot I used the following code to draw a line from CA to CA 1.1

g = pbxMap.CreateGraphics
g.DrawLine(pen1, D.v(path(t)).x, D.v(path(t)).y, D.v(path(K)).x, D.v(path(K)).y)

Is there anyway to make the red picturebox at CA to move along the line drawn to CA 1.1? Something like the google driving directions where a car will moving along the path from a starting point to a ending point..

Way To Make File Path 'relative'

Aug 17, 2009

I have a form with a tabbed control on it. Each tab in the control simply loads an existing file in a reader to display to the user. I have added the files in a folder in my project. When I debug it works great. However, when I publish and move it to another computer, the program runs fine but none of the files show in the tab control tabs. The files do come with the solution when I publish.[code]I know there is a way to make the file path "relative" but I cannot figure out how and there really isn't many resources available to explain how this can be done.

GDI: Make Drawn Object Move And Follow Path/Points At Constant Speed?

Nov 13, 2011

I've come across a very basic problem which I'm sure has a basic answer.Forgive me but I haven't programmed in years and this just a hobby of mine..My problem is that I need a drawn object (say an ellipse) to move to the cursors location when I click. Imagine an adventure quest style game where you view your character in birds eye view, and it moves according to where you click on the map.I can draw the image fine, and move the image around fine - it's more so the formula I'm using which I'm a little stumped on.I have certain requirements though.

1. I need a timer that constantly updates the drawn object's (lets say character from now on) location. Each tick will essentially be the character taking 1 step towards the cursor's location.2. At the end of each tick of the timer, it'll will invalidate the form/control to invoke the paint event, and of course, the objects location will be be updated.It sounded simple enough to create a linear equation based on the objects original location and the location of the cursor when I click.However, that will not give it a fixed speed.If say for example, the gradient (rise/run) between the cursor location and objects location is very steep, the object's y-velocity will be greater than that of the x-velocity

Interface And Graphics :: Drawing Dotted Path Lines, With Even Dots Along The Path Line?

Apr 13, 2012

Problem drawing dotted path lines, with even dots along the path line.I want to draw a path line that can be any shape (square, round, outline etc), and along this path line I want even dots to appear.

I also want to be able to resize the shape (as in the example attached)This is very easy to do using "DrawPath" and defining points for the path and using a pen defined as dots.The problem I have is I want the dots to be evenly placed along the path, on any shape or size I draw.In the example I have created, I create a square with 4 points and draw a dotted path.There are 2 buttons that allows me to resize the square (larger or smaller) this helps show the problem more clearly.

The path starts at the top left corner and finishes back at the top left corner, the dots are evenly placed along the path, except the final dots at the end of the path. (Sometimes the dots are even and other times they are not even).The shapes I want to draw can be any size and any shape, but I have used a square in this example to show the problem I have. point me in the direction I need to go that allows me to draw the dots and give the impression that they are even all along the path, for all shapes and sizes.

In the pictures below if you change the size of the shape, one will have even looking dots, the other will not.

Convert Unix File Path To Windows Path?

Jun 14, 2012

I'm using acrobat that returns unix paths instead of windows path's. So im wondering if there is a way in vb.net to convert the path to windows path.

i tried using:

docs(i) = javaScriptObj.path().ToString.Replace("/", "").Substring(1)
position = docs(i).IndexOf("")
docs(i) = docs(i).Substring(0, position) + ":" + docs(i).Substring(position + 1)

this only works on local files, but fails when im starting to use network drives.

Windows - Have The Physical Path By Giving The Network Path?

Nov 29, 2010

Well now i have an issue which is pointing in the use of "path's" physical and network.I have a SQL server on a Server machine and i have a desktop machine used as client.I'm runing from my client machine a stored procedure in order to add a streaming data base.But also before i run this procedure i run another one which prepare the desired "path", this procedure takes:

myPath="\ServerSharedFolderSQL

in order to run the first procedure i have to turn myPath in each physical name:

myPath="DriveLetter:PublicWorkFilesSQL"

Now my Issue is how i will have the physical path, which is build it on the server and which it's from very difficult (to imposible) to know it? Basically i need a function which will return me the physical path, which the implementation it's not knowing to me. My developing environment is vb.net 2010?

VS 2008 Get The .exe Directory To Add It To The Path Of Log.txt?

Jan 31, 2010

I would like to log events to a .txt file. I think I have this covered for the most part. If I run my application in let's say /Program Files/App/ it will log events to log.txt within the /App directory. However, if I made a desktop shortcut of my app, it writes log.txt to the desktop. How do I set it so my path for my log.txt will always be within the same folder as the .exe and not where the application is run from (like with shortcuts)? how to I get the .exe directory to add it to the path of log.txt?

VS 2008 - Error: Specify The .dbf With A Full Path

May 21, 2009

I have a process that I start in this manner: Process.Start("pwace", "/a C:18537-1ff.ace") The .ace loads a DBF and it is simply told where to find it like this: 18537-1.ace. When running the .ace file manually, this is fine. However, when starting the process through a VB program, the EXE (pwace.exe) acts like it doesn't know where the .ace file is located, so it can't simply append the .ace path to the .dbf to find it and the program errors out telling me to specify the .dbf with a full path.

So, I set an absolute path to the .dbf in the program, and it works fine. This leads me to believe it is an issue similar to shortcuts where if you don't set a 'Start In' path, your program has to have absolute paths defined to be able to launch external files with Process.Start(), and not simply filenames.

With that all said, is there a way I can indicate to the Process.Start() from VB where this file is located, sort of like a' Start In' path, so that my files don't have to be configured with absolute paths. And remember, it matters where the .ace file is located, not the actual .exe process that is started. The .ace file is simply a settings file for the pwace.exe to get it's parameters from. The reason I don't like to set absolute paths is because of the environment I'm in and for these .ace programs, it is better if the .dbf files are not given absolute paths.
