View 2 RepliesI need to be able to print ID cards with magnetic stripes. This is a simple matter of putting special code characters in the text to print. I can print text to the card printer from Notepad, and the printer knows to encode the stripe. This even works printing from a report in Access, but not from a Crystal report from a VB.NET app, and not from the PrintDocument object. All these do is print the information to be encoded on the front of the card. So I need to be able to print these from a VB.NET app, but not using CR or PrintDocument.

I'd prefer a solution that integerates well with .net (VB or C#).My basic goal is to capture the ambient radio waves and build a primative "telescope" of sorts. I have two datasets that are structurally identical. The first dataset is populated from the database and the second is populated via the application during the scan.
I then compare each record in the second dataset to the first with the following code:

This method seems terribly inefficient and I'd much prefer being able to do a join of sorts off the two datasets and delete all records from the application populated dataset where there is a match.
I'd like to jump in and write a simple application to display fields related to my compact disk library (Disk#, Composer, Work, etc.) in a scrollable window. The current catalog in in a DOS/xBase format, but I can export it to Excel or Access. I am using VB within Visual Studio 2008. Any most effective VB command(s) to use? Everything works correctly, when I click an item it selects the correct stitch. The only problem is, it doesn't display correctly when I load from a catalog. I can open individual items and it works fine. When I load a catalog it doesn't display the images correctly.

Basically on my form I have a listbox containing data. Under the listbox I want to place a button named "btn_PrintData" or something to that effect. The user will click this, the print dialog box would come up and bingo they could print the contents of the listbox.

I need a way of recording any sound that is played through the computer so say if the user was open up windows media player and play a song then he could click record on my application and it would capture whatever is being played. I am really looking for either a video tutorial or a book that focuses mainly on the steps needed to begin creating the game and leads me all the way to the end completion. I have been able to do the exercise's in the first 2 chapters and half the exercise's in the third chapter of the text book (programming in visual basic 2008, Julia Case Bradley & Anita C. Millspaugh). but this one is making my head want to explode. please point me in the right direction with this.
Heres the problem. The company has instituted a bonus program to give its employees an incentive to sell more. For every dollar the store makes in a four-week period, the employees receive 2 percent of sales. The amount of bonus each employee receives is based upon the percentage of hours he or she worked during the bonus period (a total of 160 hours). The Calculate button will determine the bonus earned by this employee, and the Clear button will clear only the name, hours-worked, and bonus amount fields. A Print button allows the user to print the form. Do not allow missing or bad input data to cancel the program; instead display a message to the user.

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone knows how to do these from a simple text box. i.e. 'TextBox1'.
I'm just learning VB and it's only a simple text editor but I can't find any good sites or posts that help me in understanding how to do it. These are not really covered in any of the 'beginner' books I have acquired either.
My instructor told us how to print documents and how to use databases. What the instructor did not mention is how to print or print a preview of records within a DatabaseDataSet. The book "Programming in Visual Basic 2010" does not explain how to print or do a print preview of Database Source records from within a form. The only thing I was told was to test the print document first before you try to do a print preview. Within a form I used a DataGridView to add, delete, and update the database. So now all I need to do is figure out how to print the updated records from the DataGridView and how to print a preview of the records within the DataGridView. So I hope my question is clear enough to give me assistance on how I can perform these two actions. Thanks this would be a great help, and since the class is online we can get assistance from any sources that we have.
