I am still trying to learn as much as possible about using visual basic 2008 to create card games, more precisely, video poker games. I am really looking for either a video tutorial or a book that focuses mainly on the steps needed to begin creating the game and leads me all the way to the end completion. The game can be very basic like a jacks or better game. Does anyone know of any tutorials, videos, or books that can help me? I have a few books that provide a slot machine style game and some other good examples, but really need something more with cards.
I have been looking for like 3 hours trying to find a dll or anything to make a simple cards game, but everything I find is oriented to C.
In this page A FreeCell game using Cards.dll - CodeProject� they talk about just what I want, but I cannot make it work in Visual Studio 2008 using Visual Basic.net, I don�t know if that has anything to do with the Vista OS I am using.
In the page I mention the author says "There are many good articles on the net on how to use the Cards dynamic link library" and I am sure the good articles are there, but my good luck has make me looping around the same nonsense results so I end up with nothing after 3 hours search.
The game I want to make is just something for a project we must do in class, how to start making a cards game fast and simple. If someone knows about a cards dll that works fine with vbnet, that someone would be my new hero.
I have Visual Studio 2008 because I'm going to college for computer science and I need to learn how to program. Also the price was right seeing as Microsoft gives copies away for free to college students through their DreamSpark program. My question is do you guys have any advice for the best or most comprehensive tutorials out there for my to start learning how to program?
I tried out the tutorial on [URL].. that shows how to do a simple report with the Microsoft Report Viewer control. I really like this control.I wish to further my skills on this nice tool but can't find any step by step tutorials on creating many different types of reports even if I do a Google search. I'm hoping to find tutorials on reports such as group break reports, sub-total reports, charts in the reports, drill down reports etc.
Does anyone know where I can find these? If they don't exist yet, would you create them so the community will benefit?

In games such as Warcraft III, you can play against players on LAN, and it can show a list of games being hosted by people on LAN. There is no central server that holds the entire list, so how does it get the list of games? And also, how would I code something that creates a game on LAN, like a bot?
Is it possible to capture the raw signal from a WiFi card in the same way you can capture the signal from a sound card? (I already found code for working with a sound card and for drawing spectrograms) I'm wondering because it would make a cool radio-type project. I'd prefer a solution that integerates well with .net (VB or C#).My basic goal is to capture the ambient radio waves and build a primative "telescope" of sorts. Using the built in computer hardware is just the easiest way to accomplish this. i have to develop a software for payroll where in the employee wants to give magnetic strip cards to employees i have done teh reading part which is quite simple but my prob. is they have a Zebra P330i printer the printing on the card front and back is fine but writing the data on magnetic strip is casuing a prob. ~1 and then what i want to write but when i type this it just prints on the front of the card nothing inside the card.
