Jun 15, 2010I am still trying to learn as much as possible about using visual basic 2008 to create card games, more precisely, video poker games. I am really looking for either a video tutorial or a book that focuses mainly on the steps needed to begin creating the game and leads me all the way to the end completion. The game can be very basic like a jacks or better game. Does anyone know of any tutorials, videos, or books that can help me? I have a few books that provide a slot machine style game and some other good examples, but really need something more with cards.

Aug 19, 2010I want to create a dll in VB.NET. The functionality of the dll is that it should include all the xml operations. Any application that uses this dll will just pass the node that has to be selected. The dll will accept the node name and search for the node in the xml file and return the details of the node. For example:if the xml file is like

<Node22 Attribute1 = "Value11" Attribute2 = "Value22" />

If the application which uses the dll calls a function named readNode(Node3) which is defined in the dll, then the dll should be able to retrieve all the details of Node3 including subnodes and theire attribute values and return it to the calling application. All the XML operations are to be done in the dll. The calling application will just call the method in the dll by passing the node name and it should be able to get all the node or attribute values.

Mar 6, 2009I've came up with a clever little idea of mine to make an organizer for myself for my classes. I don't really feel like explaining how exactly it works so I've included a picture, you should get the idea.I've added random labels of random classes as a test. When the add button is clicked, combobox1 and textbox1 become visible. In the scenario that "English" is selected from the combobox, whatever is entered into the textbox will go directly into listbox1 since listbox1 is right under English. Here's the code.

IDE :: Creating Pictures Dynamically In VB (2005)?
Apr 30, 2009I've been trying to get some PictureBox'es to appear and disappear dynamically. Here is my code I've been trying to get to work:

Obviously, this isn't how I started out. But I've been trying everything I can to get it to actually display. If I have a PictureBox with exactly the same properties, it displays when I tell it to. This way, it doesn't. I even created an entire class and used that - nothing. I'm guessing it may be the fact that I used a Dim statement, but I'm still a teensy bit novice-y to certain aspects of VB (in particular, Image handling).

Now on this custom control I have a panel and a few text boxes and as you can see I may be adding about 150 of these custom controls. What I am wanting to do is to be able to access that control then the item on that control based on the array. Something like the following:

But the above does not work. How I can access a specific item on the customer control within the array?

VS 2005 - Creating New Application (Solution Explorer Window)
Mar 16, 2011I seem to have some finger trouble creating a new application, here is what I am trying to do: I am trying to create a new solution and under the solution an exe (console project and a set up / deployment project. I have done this in the past and cannot see to do that any more.
Steps:
1. Create a new solution, the solution show in the solution explorer (with 0 projects)
2. Using "add" I create a console application (under the solution) and it shows a module etc. So far fine.
3. At this point the solution explorer windows only shows the console project and the solution itself (that used to show on the top) is gone. Now I am not able to add another project to my solution. I close my screen and then try to open the solution again. It comes up with the console project.

VS 2005 Creating A Textbox List Using Textboxes As Input
Aug 19, 2011What I'm trying to do is make a list of members in a read only textbox getting the data from two textboxes (first and last name) and a 'save' button.
I've made a class named 'Deltaker' (Members in english) to store data and a list 'resultater' (eng: results) using the 'Deltaker' class.
I'm trying to get user input from two textboxes 'tbxFornavn' and 'tbxEtternavn' and I use my class' public function 'Navn' to display it in the textbox 'tbxHistory'.
I've got a sub procedure to add the input to the list and clear the textboxes and enable another reset button.
So for the save button click event I run the sub procedure and I've written a for next loop to display the results from the list. The first name I enter is all good, but with the second name entry both the first and the second name gets listed as well as the first name that is already there. I thought about using the .clear function to clear the list after each input, but I also want to incorporate laptimes in the list and display the best time in a lable at the bottom of the form. Maybe also sort the list, so I need the data in the list to stay intact.
