Where do I put the shortcut icon for my mobile application in the Installer project for a Windows Mobile project so that when the cab is installed the icon will show on the Programs Menu?
how to remove a Folder created in Users Program Menu under File System, when an application is uninstalled? During installation of the Application, a link is created at the users desktop and also in Users Program Menu. However during uninstallation the link for the Users Desktop and User Program Menu is removed, but the Folder created in the Users Program Menu remains.
Simply saying I've added an Notify Icon to my project and then added context menu showing up when the left mouse button is pressed. The problem is that with the context menu some blank form is showing in the taskbar. There is no such form within the project.Does anyone know why it may be happening or how to get rid of the effect? I might add that I have other context menu attached for mouse right click button and it works fine, no blank forms and such showing on the taskbar it's just the left mouse button that works that way. Here is the code that I am using to show the menu:(the visible state to false is necessary for the other menus not to pop up with the one i want... unless anyone knows better method)
Private Sub NotifyIcon_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles NotifyIcon.Click If e.Button = MouseButtons.Right Then
I am still trying to learn as much as possible about using visual basic 2008 to create card games, more precisely, video poker games. I am really looking for either a video tutorial or a book that focuses mainly on the steps needed to begin creating the game and leads me all the way to the end completion. The game can be very basic like a jacks or better game. Does anyone know of any tutorials, videos, or books that can help me? I have a few books that provide a slot machine style game and some other good examples, but really need something more with cards.
In games such as Warcraft III, you can play against players on LAN, and it can show a list of games being hosted by people on LAN. There is no central server that holds the entire list, so how does it get the list of games? And also, how would I code something that creates a game on LAN, like a bot?
I have an application that I'm creating that uses VB6 for the maintenance programs, and visual studio 2005 to create the reports. At work we use reporting services to host the reports, but in my application I want to run the report from a menu within the application, not in reporting services. (A) Is this possible? I think I've read about a report viewer that can be embedded into .net applications. If I create a menu system in .net, that shells to execute the maintenance programs that are from vb6, or fires off the report viewer, does this sound feasible? The application is supposed to run connected to their SQL 2005 server via a VPN; I get blank looks when I ask them if they have reporting services installed...
I need to overlay a small bar along the top of the screen over a fullscreen DirectX game. I have searched for a while but I have not found any code examples for VB.NET 2008 (I've never used any previous version). How can I do this? Would this involve learning DirectX programming?
I am sure this can be done, as Visual Studio is basically built this way. What I want to do is simply make a class that my other workmates can use. But rather than have it in a code form, I want to build it (partially), and then my workmate can add it into their programs (sort of, like the add reference for the .NET stuff).
I have currently changed the color of background Menustrip using this code

I started with VB 6.0 back when i was 14, I was mostly into coding programs that interacted with other programs. Recently I installed VB.net 2005 pro i got from school, and i grabbed few source codes that teach show interaction, I feel so dumb, i dont remember anything lol. It be great if you guys can share some source codes and other stuff in this field. also other day i was in dream spark and i am able to get copy of VS.net 2010 ultimate edition, are there a lot of major changes, cause i got 2 thick book for VB.net 2005..
When you've finished a program and you're trying to distribute it to the mass public. How is the best way to go about doing this? What sites would you post your program on and getting the word out that there is a new program on the block and it does xyz. This is directed to freeware so there wouldn't be any advertising.
Sorry for not explaining it very well the first time.
Two(2) Things. I don't have the "Clickonce Option" when I select BUILD for the menu bar. I also don't have the "Step Into Option" from my DEBUG menu. Do I have a problem? Or do I need to turn something on?
I am making an app (sorta like a computer lock) that won't let you do anything on your computer until you type in the password. I am using
Public Sub w_setfocus() Dim f As Boolean While (1) f = Me.ContainsFocus() If f = True Then Me.Focus() f = Me.ContainsFocus() End If End While End Sub End Class And w_setfocus is run on form1_load. The problem is, the form then never shows up.
I am trying to move my programs from VB6 to VB 2008 Express. My initial problen is with getting data from my Jet database. I've searched for samples but haven't been able to find anything to help me. I would like to be migrate the Jet database to the vb 2008 system.
I have a Windows Form Application which has been developed in vb.net 3.5. It is a charting program and shows stock market charts to users. Now I have made another program in vb.net (same .net version) and I want this program to interact with the one I made before. The new program is like a small scripting language. So for example: if I run a script then its output should be reflected in the other program. How can the two programs communicate ? Both will be running on same systems. No remote stuff. I mean passing arrays, strings or possibly structures.
Plus I have several functions which are written in first program. Is it possible for the other program which is an .exe also to call the functions of the other one if I make sub/function public or something. The reason is we can calls functions or subs if we include a dll. But can one exe calls functions/sub of another exe (if both program are in .net).
the only way I can get reading from an instrument is through proprietary software. even though it is connected with USB. the instrument - a Cary 500, with a GPIB interface.the problem is with instrument commands, like "reset" or "change wavelength" or "instrument reading" They reside inside a primitive Basic shell provided by the instrument software. I'm looking at expencive National Instruments, is there another solution with VS/NET?
I'm writing a program that retrieves certain lines from a textfile. This textfile is rather large, so is it possible to have a progressbar that shows the progress when it retrieves?
I need a code (or a mini tutorial) for like a basically antivirus, but not everything, I only have these requirements:-to run on startup-when it runs, a image (with the AV logo) pops up, and after a while (like 2-3 seconds) it dissapears-when it runs on startup, the main screen of it dont' pop up, but will be shown on system tray
I have it set so when button3 is clicked that the listbox displays the textfiles in a designated folder.[code]Now what I would like to have happen is a way for: Selected listbox2.item (A.txt, B.txt, or C.txt) read the selected textfile into Textbox1.text(I want to click on A, B, or C and have it just open/read that textfile into the textbox.)I have a feeling this is something simple - but for some reason I am having trouble grasping it.
I have an admin section of my program to change particulars. To activate this you click the admin button the launch..then type a password. I dont want people to know there is even an admin button.... anyone know how i can assign a button combo (such as ALT+B) to show and hide that RBTN so other people cant see that admin is an option
I got a couple of issues with my windows application VB.Net. I seem to cannot set the form to be invisible before it shows up for a second, there is no option in the properties of a form and also if I set the form to visible = false before the form is loaded it doesn't work.
So this does not work:
Browser.Visible = False Browser.Show()
and this does work but the form shows up for a second which I am still not very happy with
They are all working on my computer, but they are not working on any other computer(I tested it on about 10 computers). They are working when i start making it,but after they are not working. When i try to run it on other computer it is not opening(there is not any error message), or there is a crash report(application crashes). So they are working on beginning of programming, and after they aren't.
I will do a program then save it and close it out but when I go back to open it it won't open. It just sits there. I'll click on Recent Projects and they won't open. I'll click on Open Project and select a existing file and it will just put it in Recent Projects but won't open it up.
I've coded this program in Windows XP 64 Bit. I also compiled it in Windows Vista 64 Bit. I've ran this program on 32 bit machines before and never had any problems. I purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 on it and i'm getting a "Not a valid Win32 Application" Error.
