I have a form to calculate some settings. It works just fine. I will input some decimal numbers to 8 deferent Textboxes. For example I input 40.0098 to textbox1. When I press a button my form will calculate these setting, and it will generate some new values. What I want to do is save the user inputs and the generated values to a text file each input or value has its own line it should by after the name of that input or value so the user could read the info contain in this text file, so per say line 1 of this text file will represent the input of textbox 1. it should save it as "parameter 1 = 40.0098" to line 1 of the text file I also want to be able to load this text file to my form (only specific lines) when I press another button I should get a dialog box to be able to select the text file, once I do that my form should read line one and only the input what after the "=" so textbox1 should now show 40.0098 only.
View 8 RepliesIts a League Organizer, basicly ive started it off with 16 teams and end up with 1(winner) 16 box's on the far left, then 8, then 4, then 2, then 1. the 16 box's have "Team 1" "Team 2" etc... ive put a new/clear/open/save button in that order.
BUT this is my problem..when i save(Save Button) the text file saves all the text wrong it ends up like this...Team 1Team 2Team 3Team 4 Etc...
But i want it to save like this

View 1 RepliesI'm working on a way to authenticate users in my app, and what I've come up with is the following method.To write to a database, the user must have an account in SQL server 2008. However, I still want people to be able to view the application if they don't have access, but only read, they can't sync any changes. This is working well, as I have a string array hard coded containing approved users:

The one problem with hardcoding is that if I need to ever add a user later on, I'd have to release an update to the program. (which isn't hard as I already have updating built into the app, and users can still download updates even if they can't sync.)
What I'd like to do, is use an encrypted .dat file that contains the user names, and store that with the application, so that i could always be added to, and only one file would need to be downloaded.
I have code in place to encrpt and decrypt the .dat file (called users.dat) and this code works for single text entries in the file. I need to figure out how to load a list however into the array in place.

I would like to read an HTML file, search each line to see if it starts with </head>. Then add the centering code after it. That line at destination file should read:

I want to make a program where lets say I have a text box and a button. Every time you click the button, it saves the text in the textbox to text.txt in C:. How would I go about doing that? I have done a tutorial on how to create a word editor where it asks you what and where you want to save the file, but what if I just want it in the same place every time and want it to write all of that text to a text document?
View 11 RepliesI have this Quiz software that lets you create online multiple choice quizzes which are great for studying (I am in grad school and I'm trying to use everything I can to learn). So the Quiz software is great but it only lets you input questions by hand, one by one. I took a look at the .xml file that the quiz program spits out and came up with the idea to try and make a converter so that I can import many questions at once. I was hoping to try and solve this limitation by doing the following:
Take a .doc that say a tutor gives us with a bunch of practice questions, and then take that into Crimson Editor, and then format it so the question is on line 1, the multiple choice answers are on lines 3,4,5, and 6, (for the next question, the question would be on line 11, and the answers on lines 13, 14, 15, and 16, and so on) and then take that saved .txt file into my program, hit the generate button, and it will spit out the .xml file, and then import that into the quiz software to generate the online quiz.

I figured out how to open a text file by watching simple youtube tutorials, but I don't know how to have it generate the stuff and have it show up in the bottom text box. I know how to do the coding to convert the txt to proper xml code but I don't know how to be able to save the contents of the bottom text window to an xml file.
