Save String In File But Unable To Open In Text Editor
Dec 19, 2009
i want to save String in File Who not Able to open in Text Editor Open it Only on my Application Suposly i want to save Phone Book Contact In this file
Three Text Boxes
1. Name
2. Phon Number
3. @mail Address
i already read these stuff but still not Understand i already check Kaymaf Provided link , but i m not understand Create Your Own Custom File Type
So I have made a text editor using rich text boxes and it is made to save/open rtf files. I have 3 issues I was hoping to get answers for...
1. Can I (and if so how) make it able to open/save text files and rtf files (so the user can choose which way to save it)? 2. I added the ability to color the words, but instead of coloring just the highlighted parts - it colors everything in the file. How do I change that so it only colors selected text? 3. I also added the dialog for Font changes, but it does not seem to work correctly. I want it to change font/size/etc of whatever is selected. Right now when I highlight stuff and then go into Font it allows the dialog box but does not actually change the font size/type/etc in the file it has open.
Here is the code for the above 4 mentioned areas... Save... Try Dim dlg As SaveFileDialog = New SaveFileDialog dlg.Title = "Save" dlg.Filter = "Rich Text Files (*.rtf)|*.rtf" [Code] .....
I had to develope a program that shows a list of names and age in text editor. I am able to open the file in text editor but not getting the names and ages when typing it in the text box and clicking my "write button" or the file menu write. Everything else seems to be working fine with the exception of getting my message box twice from the event load. I don't know if the below is enough for you to assist me but this is what I should see in the text editor:
When I run my program and save my file and name it "Ed's doc". It saves fine. But the title still says untitled, I would like it to say Ed's doc in this example. This is the code I have for my SaveAs button:
Private Sub SaveAsToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles SaveAsToolStripMenuItem.Click Dim Save As New SaveFileDialog() Dim myStreamWriter As System.IO.StreamWriter
I have a sample application, in which I am trying to load a text file in WebBrowser control. I have a html file through which I am calling Javascript function to open text file. But it is showing me error like; Cannot find 'file:///C:/temp/test%2520page.txt'. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct. File exist at this location and its name is; test page.txt. I am not getting what is happening.
I'm new to VB.NET, and have set myself a little challege to learn VB.NET, I was wondering if you you guys new any really good tutorials on how to create a effective MDI Text Editor?, Ive been able to create a simple text editor, however the next step is to use the MDI to be able to have mulitple windows within one form
I almost have this text editor/Stopwatch/Calculator program done. I am having mojor difficulties to get this code for Save and for Save As to work properly. I do not have code for save yet. When I click on Save I want it to save without popping up the dialog box. I do not have code for Save yet. When I click on Save As I want the popup box to show. Here is the code I have for Save As:
I'm trying to Save Arabic string on file using file open but every time I load the file it gives me deffrant craters cant read it like "this code workking good In English but in arabic the resulut always like "??????" and cant read it back.
coding in visual basic 2008 express for save the text of all text boxes, Lables and Buttons and open again in same condition. For saving I am using code like Private Sub SaveToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles SaveToolStripMenuItem.Click
I have to produce a basic text editor with buttons along the top and a richtext box below. I am currently struggling with 'Save if changes are made' objective. At the minute clicking my exit button rather than close/X (something i have to disable but havent yet) brings up the do you want to save message box regardless of any changes and also, clicking the yes button does nothing.
CODE:
I recieve no errors and apologise if i have forgotten to include something useful
These is the content of my txt file which is saved in D drive in my pc abc,1,2,3..I tried the flowing but it didn't work:[code]I am getting error on this line.. data = line.Split(","c)...it says this line isn't in use anymore or something and that I rather use LineInput but thats asks for filenumber and i don't know what that is. I am sorry but I am a complete beginner. what else can I try? [code]ok that error is gone now but now if I want to add these values to a list box..how can i do that?
I have searched, but failed to find a suitable answer to this. My small app saves a text file using a savefiledialog and stream writer. Then if successful, displays a messagebox confirming sucess and asks if the user wants to open the text file now. and this is the problem... How do I determine if the user has changed the filename and or path in the savefiledialog when saving? I'd prefer not to hard code a path and file name if possible.... but that seems like the only option? and therefore I can't show the file straight after saving reliably??
i have written a sub routine for a Save>Menu option for a MDI Text Editor, Please see my code below
Private Sub SaveToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles SaveToolStripMenuItem.Click Dim f As Form2 If f.Text = "Text Editor V.2 - New Document" Then
I have AutoDragDrop enabled in my textbox. It drags the .jpg file into my program successfully. When I save it only saves the text not the .jpg file. I do realize that when I save the file I need to have the .jpg saved also and I am not sure how to accomplish this. I have checked multiple forums and googled of course. No luck as of yet.
I can open a file in a hex editor and know that each 2 digits is a byte, they are 8 digits in binary correct? How are they stored in arrays in VB.NET?
So if I have:
Dim xx() as byte =
What would I put after the equals? The hex digits from the hex editor? (This is just a program I'm not going to save, basically I don't want to open files to get etc. I want to put in the bytes in the code.)
My app builds a string based on user input. Once the string is complete and ready for output I'd like the user to be able to save that to a text file on the HDD, preferrably to My Documents.
when i login i want a menu that says to load or create new (already made) but i don't know how to load a file as a whole, i can streamwrite and read and also save file dialouge but i'm looking for somtting different.if i saved the info for the editor seprate from the login screen (2 different projects????)
I would like to step through each *.txt file in a given directory, open it, find and replace all, perhaps a thousand, occurances of a given string (e.g. "00/00/00"), then close and save file, and step to next one in the directory to do the same find and replace. I've been looking at filestream classes and regular expressions but don't see a clear way to do this.
How do I read all the text from a text file and save it as a string variable? For some reason I remembered it being something like this: IO.FromFile.ReadAllText("path") but thats not it.
I believe I need the code for Load Event. I have tried many ideas. I have searched the threads here and also google of course. No luck as of yet. Better description: I have a file named hello.txt. The contents of this text file are "hello". I use my program as the default for .txt files. I dbl click hello.txt. My program loads and the contents are blank and it should have "hello" in it.
Its a League Organizer, basicly ive started it off with 16 teams and end up with 1(winner) 16 box's on the far left, then 8, then 4, then 2, then 1. the 16 box's have "Team 1" "Team 2" etc... ive put a new/clear/open/save button in that order.
BUT this is my problem..when i save(Save Button) the text file saves all the text wrong it ends up like this...Team 1Team 2Team 3Team 4 Etc...
But i want it to save like this
Team 1 Team 2 Team 3 Team 4 Etc...
The code is...
Dim Save As New SaveFileDialog Save.Filter = "Text Files (*.txt)|*.txt|ALL FILES (*.*)|*.*"
I've posted this question in asp.net web forum but no one replied.
I can't open "ONE" page of .pdf file using IE8 and give me an error message "the file is damaged and could not be repaired" when retrieved from SQL Server 2008, but more than one page I can open with no problem.
With Chrome I can open any number of .pdf pages.
The same page that I can't open using IE8 from DB, can be opened directly from hard disk using IE8.
My code in .asxh file:
context.Response.ContentType = "application/pdf" Dim strm As Stream = ShowNewsImage(imgName) If Not strm Is Nothing Then
I have a Motor Class, along with a Collection to hold objects address. Each Collection object holds the Class fields as a String to display in list box. I am able to write the collection string to the file and save the string. But unable to open the existing file, read the file back into the collection object.
Public Class Motor Private strId As String Private strDescription As String
[Code]......
I have looked all over for anything (samples or tutorials for working with files and collection objects) pertaining to type of operation with out any success.
I tried opening a .txt file in a multiline text box but textbox.loadfile doesn't work. So then I tried opening it in a richtextbox but then it says the file type isn't supported. So basically how do I create and open .txt files and if I wanted to create multiple file types (.html, etc) then what would be the best way to do that? I am making a multitabbed text editor.
I'am creating a script editor for my own purposes. And i have a menu option called "Close", and i want to check if the file is saved or not, so it no code get lost by clicking wrong.
Anyone have a idea how i check if the file is saved?
