Retrieve / Update Data From Remote Database
Jul 22, 2011I'm currently working on an application written in VB.net using Visual Studio. The app retrieves and updates data from a remote database. While debugging, I updated a particular row in the database and after messing around a bit managed to crash the app. Since then, whenever I fetch that particular row, the data that was previously updated continues to be retreived - regardless of what is actually in the database.
All other rows properly reflect the data in the database and are capable of being updated through the application as they should. However with this one particular row it continues to retrieve outdated data and locks up the application when I attempt to perform an update. Does Visual Studio create some sort of local copy of the database which was perhaps corrupted?

I need to upload the file to a server and then move it to another directory, but the file after being transfered becomes hidden. If I try to rename it any way I get the dreaded 550 in response. I would hate to move to commad line scripting which at the moment seams to be my only option.

Feb 2, 2009I am using Visual Basic (VS 2005) windows 2003 and Exchange 2003. Also I have developed WEBDAV functionality for retrieving messages from my exchange. Everything worked fine until they have asked me to move to 2007. I already know that Microsoft has de empasized Webdav but they say that they still supporting it.My problem is that every time I'm trying to retrieve contacts or inbox or whatever I getting The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden Below is a sample of my code

I can have up to three instances of the software running using three scheduled tasks, and three logged in users. Currently I am using a separate program running on two additional servers to make sure these two additional users are logged in, the scheduled task will not run if the user is not logged in. This separate program uses a saved Remote Desktop Session to make sure the users are logged in.

Oct 7, 2010My project uses .NET remoting. The client connects to the server hosted in IIS to do database operations.
We have a class library that is referenced both by the client and the server. This contains basic static (shared) functions used throughout the project. An example would be a function that takes a customer/invoice number and pads it with zeros/spaces to our desired format. This works fine. There is a copy of the dll with the client and on the server in the IIS virtual directory. Both the server and the client can call these functions and they work correctly.
Now, in that same class library, I've defined two things: an enumeration (enum) and a serializable class. If I try to call a function on the server from the client that passes/returns an instance of either the enumeration or the class, I get the following
