I have checked many different articles and C# samples but not come any closer to getting an answer, I would like to know if there an easier way (a VB sample perhaps)that you folks can share. Ultimately I'd like to be able monitor other things too like file system, processes etc but wonder most about how the registry can be done in VB...Would using system.management be a start? Or WMI? if so is there a nice VB sample..

2 problems: first, intellisense error saying: 'fswService' is a type and cannot be used as an expression. second, I can not figure out a way to pass on to the service the path of the folder to watch (which is stored at My.Settings.userPath).

Working with the Windows media player COM Form loads up into second monitor, my current screen res is 1400 x 900 Form stays on primary monitor, but video feed from windowsmedia player is on secondary monitorI have been googling all day and haven't found my answer, can you help? Jun 15, 2011So I got this idea to write a very small application for a school project that raises a balloon from the system tray everytime a new process is getting launched or an existing process quits.
With my current code, I am getting the list of processes using a timer.This list needs to be compared with the previous list and detect differences (if this is possible, or should I use a different concept)? I have no clue how to do this.

I've found several such utilities that do this, but they all lack one thing or another, or they are over bloated with stuff I don't want or need, etc. I want to write my own so it will be like I want it. Dec 19, 2009Im wondering if there is some way of monitoring individual processes (read: not mine) cpu usage and ending (asking politely then killing it off) the offending process. I dont know about you, but i've been in multiple instances where i've been unable to get to taskmanager to "choose" process to be killed. For multiple reasons (Either taskmanager has been visible, but a game window is still showing (alt+tab not working), leading to a guess game of clicking processes or cpu usage has been so high that one mouseclick takes 30 sec.)

Jun 28, 2010Now this program will only be used on systems that I produce, and send out. I need to make sure that for any monitor that these people use it will always be at the standard resolution of 1440 x 900..
I have tried setting up profiles with catalyst control panel, but if you plug in a different monitor to the one that was plugged in when you made the profile it wont recognise the screen and the system wont run properly.
So I wanna see if I can change the resolutions of the screen that will be plugged in the monitor slot and also if possible make sure the other extended screen should there resolution of 1024 x 768..how much control can you get over the monitors that are plugged in?

1. User enters 1-3 websites they wish to monitor
2. User clicks go next to textbox with data entered, then button and a copy of form refered to as browse is created.
3. Form refered to as browse is directed to the url refered to on the form refered to as monitor, in the associated textbox(passed as a parameter to copyForm)
4. A timer is used to refresh the webpage every 10 seconds
What I wanted to happen was the program turn the associated picturebox in form1 green if page is loaded, and black is loading.
