Im wondering if there is some way of monitoring individual processes (read: not mine) cpu usage and ending (asking politely then killing it off) the offending process. I dont know about you, but i've been in multiple instances where i've been unable to get to taskmanager to "choose" process to be killed. For multiple reasons (Either taskmanager has been visible, but a game window is still showing (alt+tab not working), leading to a guess game of clicking processes or cpu usage has been so high that one mouseclick takes 30 sec.)
I want to make a process monitor tool with WMI that monitor the processes created or deleted, but the code will not work. Note to reference System.Management,
Can i know how to find the CPU Usage of individual Process in %.I found the following code thru the net.But I not getting it. [code] Here m_ Performance Counter.NextValue() will gives the cpu usage percentage..What we have to write in place of these
How to find the CPU Usage of individual Process in %. Private m_PerformanceCounter As New System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounter("Processor", "% Processor Time", "_Total") Dim cupcount As String = CInt(m_PerformanceCounter.NextValue()) & "%" Here m_PerformanceCounter.NextValue() will gives the cpu usage percentage
What we have to write in place of these 1) Processor 2)% Processor Time 3)_Total
Alright, so my family just got on a new wireless Broadband Plan, and I'm curious as to who actually uses the most downloads each month, so I figured I could do this easier using a program, rather than recording everything using pen and paper.
VB.net 2010 Read all around the net, but cannot seem to do this: Tried the performance counter Categoryname=process Instancename=("program"). _Total helps in part- but it would be more efficient to acquire the main applications cpu usage for this project.
Code:for each p as process in process.getprocesses if p.id=process.getcurrentprocess.id then end if next 'Values, Obviously multiple processor cores have to be taken into account'kernelmodetime, usermodetime, Cputime, total cpu time, 100% <-- Does this involve adding and or dividing all these times? I need the current process CPU usage.
So I have a code atm that has 2 combo boxes, one to select the make, then it will enable the model, I have 3 model choices, here's code: [code] Once I have selected my model of the car, it takes me to that specific form with a picture of that model, I then want to display individual parts, with individual prices that will add up in a text box above.
Can I monitor the registry for changes similar to how sysinternals process monitor does it in VB? I have checked many different articles and C# samples but not come any closer to getting an answer, I would like to know if there an easier way (a VB sample perhaps)that you folks can share. Ultimately I'd like to be able monitor other things too like file system, processes etc but wonder most about how the registry can be done in VB...Would using system.management be a start? Or WMI? if so is there a nice VB sample..
I'm doing a small download manager, but I was stopped by a little problem xD So I wanted to add all links to download in a listbox, and download them one at a time not all at once. This is the code that has the problem NotSupportedException:
VB.NET Private Sub MaximizeCare() For Each p As Process In Process.GetProcessesByName("clinical_carestation") ShowWindow(p.MainWindowHandle, SHOW_WINDOW.SW_MAXIMIZE)
[code]....
But the trouble is that if multiple users are using the same terminal I cannot narrow down the process list to just the current user. So if two users run the same application simultaniously only the first user can open the application on the same terminal.
I'm extracting icons from running processes and then adding them to a ListView. Some processes don't have icons or I can't get access to them, so the icons are sometimes all mixed up. The following is how I'm extracting the icons:
was wondering if it was possible to write/read from a programs memory inside of your visual basic 2008 application. I've done tons of research and "googled" everythingt to be able to read/write values of a running process from with my application.I did read somewhere that you can only read/write up to 4bytes in vb.net, That would be just perfect
I am currently using a recursive search to get all of the files in a directory as well as in all subdirectories of that directory. At the moment (as a temporary solution to make sure the script worked) I have all files with their respective directories listed in a listview (2 separate columns).
For some time I've been trying to devise a system that would allow me to keep a large quantity of data stored in memory, which is to be accessed by a main process that I must start and stop a lot. I've tried using a virtual/RAM drive on which to store the data files to speed up data loading when starting the process, and also tried keeping the data in a windows service and using WCF for IPC between the main process and the service to access the data. Both those approaches were WAY too slow.Currently the main process stores the data in tables, and that serves my purposes well once the data is loaded. One thing that I'm wondering is if maybe it would be possible to "orphan" the DT objects by the main process and "adopt" them by the service when the main process is shut down, and do the opposite when the main process is restarted. That would obviously be pretty efficient. Is there any way of doing this in VB.Net without any non-managed code help?
I am new to arraylist. I have used standard 2 dimension or single dimension arrays which is there is .net & legacy VB.What I want is removing & searching in arrays to be easy ? VB.net does provide something called arraylist whereby we can remove items easily like X.removeat (index) or x.remove (search) etc.[code]Now I have a array person. To add i do redim person(10) or using preserve if I need to dynamically add etc. To remove is a pain as I need to copy contents and remove manually.Anyways in .net you have option called ArrayList. How can I use this to make life easier? If I want an arraywhereby I can do person.removeat (2) or person.add person.name="XYZ" & so on.Just wanna ease up on searching & removing.
I am currently running through a loop with 20 threads. These loops contain a series of 3 HTTPWebRequests (relatively CPU intensive). At the beginning, CPU usage never spiked above 10%. After about 7 hours of run time, CPU is spiking up to over 40%. I believe that this will eventually lead to the program crashing (it has before in less time, I modified some things and it seems to be running longer). What kind of intense CPU spikes are associated with threading? More importantly, how can the duration of runtime affect CPU usage by so much?
I found an ExtendedRichTextBox which was in C# i converted this class to vb.net using online code converter. There are number of options in like justifying the text, Inserting numbers list to selected text, Line spacing and etc i am unable to apply its some functions like line spacing, InsertOleObject etc if any one can figure out how to use the new functions of this control ? control is attached.
I have a combobox called cbMaterialType on a windows form that's bound to a table in SQL - everything loads great and the combobox displays 'Material' items as it should, in that table I have two fields - Material (as mentioned above) which is a char(25) and InStock which is an nchar(1). If the InStock field contains a '1', I'd like the individual material to be green in the combobox, if '0', then red. I have the simple code in the drawitem event of the combobox as follows, but can't seem to get any results at all:
Private Sub cbMaterialType_DrawItem(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DrawItemEventArgs) Handles cbMaterialType.DrawItem If MaterialTableAdapter1.GetData.Item(cbMaterialType.SelectedIndex).InStock = 1 Then cbMaterialType.ForeColor = System.Drawing.Color.Green Else cbMaterialType.ForeColor = System.Drawing.Color.Red End If End Sub
I've never worked with any form of color in comboboxes before and this is my first attempt at the drawitem event.
OK I need to end up with a byte array that is 12 bytes long, because I need to send it via UDP to a server that expects it in that format.
These 12 bytes are a combination of single bit flag fields, 16 bit integer fields and some 3 and 4 bit integer fields.
So I have defined a class that has a property for each of these 'fields' but I'm having a little trouble getting my head around how I can set individual bytes based on 16 bit Integers that are passed in to these properties.
For example, lets say I want to set one of these 16 bit fields to a value of 300. I would set the relevant property in my class to a UInt16 with a value of 300. The problem is converting that UInt16 to 2 separate bytes to assign them to the array because as far as I know there is no way to assign the value of 2 bytes in the array at the same time (obviously a UInt16 is 2 bytes long).
Imports System.ServiceProcess Imports System.IO Public Class fswService
[Code].....
2 problems: first, intellisense error saying: 'fswService' is a type and cannot be used as an expression. second, I can not figure out a way to pass on to the service the path of the folder to watch (which is stored at My.Settings.userPath).
