VS 2008 ArrayList Usage
Mar 23, 2009I am new to arraylist. I have used standard 2 dimension or single dimension arrays which is there is .net & legacy VB.What I want is removing & searching in arrays to be easy ? VB.net does provide something called arraylist whereby we can remove items easily like X.removeat (index) or x.remove (search) etc.[code]Now I have a array person. To add i do redim person(10) or using preserve if I need to dynamically add etc. To remove is a pain as I need to copy contents and remove manually.Anyways in .net you have option called ArrayList.How can I use this to make life easier? If I want an arraywhereby I can do person.removeat (2) or person.add person.name="XYZ" & so on.Just wanna ease up on searching & removing.

Jun 19, 2009I am currently running through a loop with 20 threads. These loops contain a series of 3 HTTPWebRequests (relatively CPU intensive). At the beginning, CPU usage never spiked above 10%. After about 7 hours of run time, CPU is spiking up to over 40%. I believe that this will eventually lead to the program crashing (it has before in less time, I modified some things and it seems to be running longer). What kind of intense CPU spikes are associated with threading? More importantly, how can the duration of runtime affect CPU usage by so much?

May 31, 2012I found an ExtendedRichTextBox which was in C# i converted this class to vb.net using online code converter. There are number of options in like justifying the text, Inserting numbers list to selected text, Line spacing and etc i am unable to apply its some functions like line spacing, InsertOleObject etc if any one can figure out how to use the new functions of this control ? control is attached.

Dec 19, 2009Im wondering if there is some way of monitoring individual processes (read: not mine) cpu usage and ending (asking politely then killing it off) the offending process. I dont know about you, but i've been in multiple instances where i've been unable to get to taskmanager to "choose" process to be killed. For multiple reasons (Either taskmanager has been visible, but a game window is still showing (alt+tab not working), leading to a guess game of clicking processes or cpu usage has been so high that one mouseclick takes 30 sec.)

Aug 14, 2009Im trying to monitor the battery of notebooks to diagnose whether there charging/discharging correctly or not for my work. I can get the basic info using SystemInformation.PowerStatus but i want to be able to see the slope or decline of the charging via a graph. Is this possible? i was playing with the system monitor control and thats the kind of output im trying to get. If you look at the pic below theres an option to select how many images the user wants to display on the slideshow, if a user selects up to 15 thats fine. VS 2008 How To Determine Processor Load
Mar 9, 2010I have a multi-processing application that kicks off up to 4 threads at a time to process data into a SQL-Server database. It seems to work okay, except at times the processors are pegged at 100% and all threads slow down a bit.
So, what I want to do is conditionally fire a thread based upon the processor load... if they're already running at 100%, it makes no sense to kick off another thread.
Is there a way to determine what the processor load is? Task manager shows processor load, so there probably is... but how do I do it?

Reading Excel From VB 2008 - How To Determine A Sheet Has Nothing In It
Dec 2, 2009I have Visual Studio 2008/VB application that opens Excel workbooks, reads all the sheets, and writes some data to a SQL database. I need an easy way to determine if a sheet has any data on it. By default most books has three sheets (Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3) and usually, but not always, my books have data only on sheet1. But i need to look at alal sheets to check for the existence of data. I know I can do a nested for loop from 1 to columns.count and rows.count, but that would take a good bit of time since those numbers usually are something like 256 and 65K.
Is ther some easy way to determine if there is any data on the sheet? If there is, is there an easy way to find the "first" cell with data in it?

Feb 23, 2011I have written a program and deployed using clickonce to all desktop users. Additionally, the program is also installed (non clickonce) on a terminal server. (For security reasons, these users cannot install on their desktops). I need to add some code to the current program but only need this code to happen if it's being run as a Non ClickOnce Application. Does anyone know how to determine if the running version is a clickonce or not? Is there something in System.Deployment.Application that identifies?

But this method has a bad issue: The text property takes a while to "load up" plus getting its hash code adds to it. This code runs every time the Lines are needed (it is a property). So this

Takes ages to complete, because for every line it checks if the lines have changed.I am trying to evade using MyBase.Lines too much, since that REALLY takes ages to load.
- I can not use the modified property since it is unreliable (set to true if only a text color changes)
- Can't use the RTF since it changes without the text changing (coloring) and the hash code is slow as well.
- Can't use the TextChanged event, since it is sent after the SelectionChanged event (for some reason)
