How do I determine which component had been clicked?
Example i have a tabcontrol contains 4 tabpages.Each tabpage have a datagridview. I want when i click any datagridview in those tabpages then a msgbox ll show name of datagridview which has just clicked.I want to determine it. But i dont want to use method loop though controls of tabcontrol and check what datagridview visible.Shortly i want to determine what datagridview i clicked ?

All picture boxes will call the same subroutine, passing the variable of the name of the box clicked. Rather than writing a click event for all 32 boxes, and call the same subroutine from each event, is there a way that I can determine which picture box has been clicked?

Right now I have a treeview with 2 parent nodes and each Parent Node has multiple child nodes.I would like to display the text of the Child Node in a textbox. Which I have been unsuccessful.The code I'm displaying below shows both parent and child node. But I only want the child node.

I want to detect when my touchpad is clicked! I normally use a usb mouse, so I don't use the touchpad for anything. Instead I'd like to make it possible to perform an action in .NET, when the touchpad is clicked. This way I can use it as a shortcut: One tap and something cool happens.
Is this possible, and if yes, any clue how? I'd prefer if it could be working in VB.NET or C#. My theory is that I'd have to make a mousehook, which then somehow determines which device the click is coming from. If the click is determined to be from the touchpad, then cancel the click and doWhatever().

I need to determine which students have a specific major based upon the button that is clicked , then code will pull all the CS student's name and put them in the results list box. I've created a component whose name I'd like to be able to change while editing in the component tray. I've added a Designer action for a name property, but now I'm stuck.
Looking at the property grid, I can see that the name property is parenthesised, indicating that it's not a regular property.

How can I control the component? For example, I want my component to not have a visible design view, I want it to stay below like the stopwatch component and the notifyicon component and such, it is not something to be designed. Then, how do I edit the possible properties a user can control, and make them effect the end result?
Im using the component in visual basic 2008 it is ExtCursors. I get it here. Its fine and working great, but I want to change the cursor everytime the users mouse was hover in a button. I want my preferred cursor not the cursor in vb 2008.

I have been asked to add some functionality to an application which will require Microsoft Word. The new work needs to allow the users to create .dot files and perform mail merge operations. I have gone down the road of using the dsoframer component in the past and would prefer to avoid it if possible.
Can anyone recommend a good third party component that will allow me to do this sort of thing?
I have noticed that the controls I have looked at seem to be viewer controls allowing read only operations which is not good enough for this task.
My app is a classic vb6 app. I have distilled my problem down to fact that an activeX control can't be registered on Win 2008 64 Bit using Regsvr32 but can be registered on Win 2008 32 bit and on Windows 7, Vista, XP/Pro, Win 2000 etc. The classic vb6 app works well on every Microsoft platform except Win 2008 64 Bit. Some Win 2008 64 Bit systems seem to work and we're not sure why, but many don't. The application fails with 429 error when run and when you try to manually register the activex component using regsvr32, the registration process hangs with this result[code]...

At the moment I have an icon which starts when one of my mainform loads up, it has an option to exit and it loads a form on click which is mainly what I need. But because I have more than just one form I need to know is there a way of having one notifyItem for all of the forms (for the whole application) or would I have to create a duplicates for other form. Because it closes when he form closes and the other form doesn't have a notifyItem.
Another thing I would like to know is how to get the form dissapear when closed, I mean I could just do visible = false but I want it shrink towards my notifyIcon like all the other applications do
I am working on a project and i am required to set up a 2d arrray of buttons. This part is fine and working. My problem is detecting the name of a button when it is clicked. I have a feeling it has something to do with sender, but i just can't crack it. If you need more info or code, then just ask.

View 9 RepliesI have a RTB that I am generating during runtime. The users who will be using this app, need to be able to select unique IDs from a ComboBox and when they are selected, their value gets added to the RTB. Its ID is directly related to the their index in the combobox.

The problem, is that since the RTB is created during runtime, I won't know its created name. At anytime, there could be 10 RTBs inside of its own tab within a TabControls.So, anyone know how I can access the RTB without knowing its name?
