I've created a component whose name I'd like to be able to change while editing in the component tray. I've added a Designer action for a name property, but now I'm stuck.
Looking at the property grid, I can see that the name property is parenthesised, indicating that it's not a regular property.
When I build my VB.NET 2008 Express Edition project I get the following error
The designer loader did not provide a root domponent but has not indicated why
I though this meant that I need to put my Acces mdb in the root folder of the project but that didn't help. why I'm getting this error? If I click on more information I get an message saying information not found.
I am converting an old Vb6 solution to .net 2.0 in vs2010. I've been working in C# for about 3 years now and .net for 5. I don't recall having this problem in C#, but if I want initialize a readonly collection of DerivedControlFoo Is there a clean way to do it besides creating a sub to do it all off somewhere else? I'd love to be able to do it at the class level at the declaration for readability and simplicity.

Good day, i have an application which can upload and preview image files, e-presentations, word duments, excel files and pdf files. On my program i used Web Browser Control and I'm planning to change the component or upgrade the software. Aside from Web Browser Control, what else can I use to preview those file types? By the way, i am using visual basic 2003(vb.net 2003) with this application.

I have ported it from VS 2008 to VS 2010 and I need to update the database section and connect it to the SQL backend using traditional code method.In the Solution explorer, when I click on the Dataset files, and click "Exclude From project" I am unable to build the project.Is it advisable to comment out the code lines that refer to the dataset in the .designer.vb files?

I've tried WebKit.NET, but it didn't have progress bar support. I also tried xlurunner but it had no printing support. Is there another web browser component that has both printing support and progressbar support? I shouldn't have to omit features from my browser just to get a better rendering engine.

I didnt know if this was the correct location to post this kind of question. My code is in C# however I am using the visualBasic. Interaction. CreateObject to connect to a OCX file. I notice that this works great for a while but if it continues to do its job for lets say a few days then I get and exception... "Can not create an ActiveX component." I am 100% sure that the ocx and dlls are registed correctly to the system.

Loads the Autocad correctly. But for second time if run the application the following runtime error is occuring. View 1 RepliesI am developing a VB2008 application that makes use of the Office Access runtime.I started development on Win7 64-bit & Visa 32-bit machines.The application runs just fine on the machines with VB2008 installed.I have used a number of tools to build the application installation and I am running into the same thing on all target test machines (currently XP Pro).The system fails when the Office Access portion of the code starts to run.Below is the Just-In-Time debug info.
I also notice that .NET 2 is being called.Is it wise to make .Net3x the preferred .Net client?In the application, I have specificed .Net3 (however, it does not look like it is being called).The target test machine (XP Pro) has .Net 2.3 and 4 installed.See the end of this message for details on invoking

I have a large project which consists of about 60 modules. It contains a lot of DataGridView components.
Recently I implemented cut-copy-paste functionality to one of the DataGridViews.
What is the best way to add same functionalities to all the other DataGridViews .
P.S. I don't want to create a new component which inherits DataGridView and re-define all the DataGridViews.
