View 2 RepliesOk so here's the story. I have an array of Assemblies which are initiated by [Assembly].LoadFrom() that load a number of DLL's. Upon initialising, a method called InitMain (from the DLL!) is called, which sets a number of variables outside of this method, like here:

If I call the method Test using that same array of Assemblies somewhere later in the main application (like pressing a button or something to trigger it), it will pop up a messagebox with that says: "C = 0"Why is this? Is it fixable without any odd workarounds?
I have a database in my app which loads and displays some information on a form by binding the Comboboxes and Textboxes. However, I need to get some of the other values from the database for calculations before they are displayed on the form and I can't seem to find out how to do this.I could bind a couple of Textboxes to the database and then use those values to calculate, but it doesn't seem like a very efficient way of doing things.The dataset is created using the wizard and the controls are linked in the UI.

View 4 RepliesAt the moment each Company on my website have 1 picture they can add to their profile.I save that image into the database.its their Company Logo.Now i want to allow them to add more pictures. Now i don't know if i must save it all in the database or save it in folders???? Reason why i think folders will be better is because there are so much nice articles with fancy silver light kinda features that i can use but all of them only cater for images saved in folders.And since i am not THAT good its hard for me to change the code to look at the database instead of the examples that uses folders for image retrieval.I would like to add something like this to my website (browsing through the images).Any code examples for me on how to do this when images are saved in the database? I am using ASP.NET with VB.net.

I cannot seem to figure out how to create an array that will store all three columns with the variable intProductArray as the length of the array. I have been opening the file with only one column and putting it into a textbox and using the lines of the textbox as the variable for length. I cannot figure out the array for all 3 columns.

I get a directorynotfoundexception 'Could not find a part of the path '\images\apple.jpg' error. I'm new to VB and think this must have something to do with the default path or something.

My text file is a settings file and I know I will be adding more to it in the future, right now it reads "autoplay=false;mintray=false;"I am currently using probably the most inefficient way to check both of those settings:

How can I read the file, find each word from the equals sign to the semicolon, and store each of them in a variable identified by the text before the equals sign? Something like this:

Also, how can I edit the settings in the text file without having to overwrite everything every time I save to it? For instance; finding mintray in the text file, and changing mintray to true instead of overwriting the file with "autoplay=false;mintray=true;".

As long as the delimiter was a unique specifiable character, this one-statement command could break it out into elements. my memory and point me in the right direction.
The app i am working on is for creating theme for the iPod touch... It has to deal with LOTS of images (100's potentially) There will be the set of default images, and then the user created replacement images. I started loading all the defaults into a resx file... thinking then I could just pull them out. now that I started setting the default, this sucks! lol the app will do this, on load it will set all the images (variables) to the resx images then when a theme is loaded, it will replace the default with the user image (if the user img exists) otherwise, the default stays. Then the "screen" is drawn to show the user. so, here is just the images to build the wallpaper, dock, and status bar...

View 6 RepliesI am coding a program that will allow the user to input 5 payrolls for Store 1, Store 2, and Store 3. The total of the 5 payrolls are then added together and shown in the respective Store's labels. A total label is also there to add up all the totals into one number. The numbers in the label must be in currency form. My problem is the numbers don't add correctly when I hit calculate. The first two numbers add together, but then after that the number just seems to subtract a random amount.

In our projects we use setting variables to store user setting for the applications. Moreover, with every latest version of the applications, we upgrade these variables to retain user settings.Normally, this works fine, but recently one of my end user reported an error i.e.Configuration System failed to initialize". The error is related to user.config file. Therefore we requested the user to send us his file.After received the folder, we noticed that it contains 3 files (3begfjb.newcfg,3begfjb.tmp and user. config). 3begfjb.tmp is an empty file, while 3begfjb.newcfg and user.config are identical files. We tried to open these files but the data in user.config isn't proper xml rather its unreadable formatted file.Do any you guys had experienced this sort of issue or any ideas how and what may have created these files and corrupted user.config file.

View 7 RepliesI have code, shown below, that works all except for 1 thing: The variables being passed byRef get passed, but once modified in the else section of the "if me.invokerequired" code of RecordData, the variables are never updated in the calling function. To reiterate, the calling function does not receive the updated data that is in the variables custid and amt.When debugging, I see the data change in the else section of "if me.invokerequired", but once it returns from the callback the data is missing.[code]

Private var1 as Decimal
Private list1 as List(Of string)[code].....
But I found that after this form is closed, all above variables, var1, list1, list2 still exist in memory. I thought they should be collected by gc since the form is already disposed as I confirmed.
Add: I have monitored half an hour after the form is closed. But these variables are not collected by gc. I have an automatic update procedure on the form which uses above variables.Since the above variables still hold values, the automatic update procedure is always called which causes exception. (One quick fix is to check if form.isDisposed in update procedure. But I do not think this is elegeant. Besides, these variables occupy memory.)
