Mar 6, 2011I have just about completed a .NET project to write a program to randomly select numbers for a Bingo caller. Over the last month or so Ive learned a lot about .NET but heres something that I consider to be odd and maybe one of you guys can offer an opinion.
One of the features of calling Bingo in a small local club is that callers often use little sayings to accompany certain numbers, I expect youve all heard of (say) All the sixes, clickety click for 66 or 5 and 9 the Brighton line for 59 etc. My little program gives an option to incorporate these with a prompt for the caller that can be edited outside of the program. One of these conventional sayings is used when a number is reversed 12 followed by 21 or 45 followed by 54 for example, when the caller might call (say) 1 and 2, one dozen, number 12 And the other way round 2 and 1, twenty one.
So, I programmed in a bit of code to detect this and to over-ride whatever might otherwise have been the quote with And the other way round and set about testing it. Ive been through literally dozens of full 90 calls watching for the occurrence of a reversed number, spent a few hours doing it, and not once has it occurred which is to say the least, unusual.
So, Im wondering about the Rand Function, could it be that it isnt possible for a reversed number to be selected? Just so you know, I randomly pre-select the order of all 90 numbers, I fill each of the 90 elements of an array with a random number first checking that the number selected hasnt already been stored, if it has, I just get the next random number (and check that too of course), but I cant see how that could prevent reversed numbers being selected, especially in light of the fact that frequently it's not the 'next' number that's used.

Jun 27, 2011i have the following piece of code: txtGrandTotal.Text = Val(textbox1.Text) + Val(textbox2.Text) + Val(textbox3.Text) If the numbers entered into textboxes1,2 and 3 are positive integers it all works fine, but if for example the following happens i get unexpected results textbox1 has the number 3, textbox2 has -1 and textbox3 has 6. I expect the result to be 8 (3-1=2 + 6) = 8 Instead I get 14. I understand the concept of precedent but how do I set it if I don't know if the number entered into textbox is positive or negative?

Aug 12, 2011I have made my calculator and it has 2 textboxes where the 2 numbers (or values go for addition and subtraction) are input and a label where the answer appears. There is other things on the page such as quit, clear etc thats all done but i have one query. I noticed while testing a problem occurs when only one number or value is put into a textbox and a command is hit. For example. one textbox (txtnumber1) has one number in it then i hit multiply and it says the error of course because its not programmed to deal with this (or divide by 0 of course) so i was wondering how i could make so when this happens a MsgBox appears saying a value must be in both boxes or when divded by zero is says something similar.

i need a code to generate all the possible combination of the numbers a user types into the textboxes i have two images (Panel3: the textboxes where added during design time) image2: the textboex were added using the code i gave about
generate all the possible combinations of numbers typed into the textboxes (Example see panel3.jpg image),
The user will type in the desired unique numbers into the textboxes without repetition (Please see the image i did not repeat any number, so can the code detect when a number have been typed twice?) Else when running the program i will be carefull not typing two numbers twice, but its adviceable to detect when a number is typed more than once.
Then the amount of unique number the user will type or supply to the desired textboxes does not matter here and as you can see in the image the amount of numbers in each column is not the same ie it may or may not be same amount (but number must be unique. Please try and see if it can be done to prompt user to enter the amount of numbers to supply in each column)
Then After supplying the numbers just like the one in Image, The button Click will generate all the Possible Combinations of the all the numbers typed into the textboxes in the columns.. Then After generating the combinations in the Listbox, the next Button will be able to delete them from the Universal 90c5 just like the former.

Populate Textboxes From Listview Selected Items?
May 26, 2010I have a Form with listview of customer name. e.g. AAA, BBB, CCC, DDD, EEE. etc And 3 textboxes.
I want to be able to populate the textboxes when the user selects a customer. For example: If User selects AAA, textbox1.text = AAA, then if User selects CCC, textbox2.text = CCC etc.
I tired: (in a button on click event)
TextBox1.Text = Listview1.SelectedItems(0).Text
TextBox2.Text = Listview1.SelectedItems(1).Text
TextBox3.Text = Listview1.SelectedItems(2).Text
But this only works if the user selects 'all' 3 customers at once. I want to allow the User to populate each textboxes depending on how many they select eg. 'Upto' 3 customers .

Transferring Selected Items From ListBox Into 3 Separate Textboxes
Oct 13, 2009I have a listbox populated with items which are the numbers 0-10. I need to know how to make the app transfer the selected items into 3 separate text boxes. First it should total the the cumulative values of the selected numbers & place that value into the 1st box. Then is should list the total number of items selected from the listbox & place that number into the 2nd box. And finally it should give me an average of the selected items, now this part I've got down, as I can input the first 2 numbers manually into the boxes & will get a correct response in the 3rd text box.

Input Numbers Into Selected Textbox?
Feb 28, 2010I have 10 buttons 0-9 And i have 4 textboxes All representing different values (n,e,x,y) Ok so what i want is to be able to use my 0-9 buttons to input the numbers into the boxes. However my problem is How can my program know which text box the mouse cursor is in. Right now, i can only get it to go in one of the boxes That i tell it too by using the textbox's name. Or all of them at once.
SO is there a way that when i click in text box "n" when i click numbers they will go there. Then if i click in text box "e" and click the the numbers, they will go in there?
