VS 2010 Adding Unique Tag After Adding Component

May 4, 2012

I'm adding labels at runtime to my form with a tag. Let's say I have 3 labels with the tags, "1", "2" and "3". I'm adding the tags by counting the labels + 1. When I remove a label with tag "2" from the form there are only 2 left. When I add a new label it will add a new tag "3", but that one already exist. So my "solution" isn't a very good one Although tag "2" is free, I want to give it "4". Any thoughts on how to code this properly?

.net - Specifying A Unique Control Name When Adding At Runtime (like The VS IDE)?

Apr 14, 2010

I have a basic IDE for a user control i am building. It allows me to add labels to a panel and move them around, like a very basic form designer. When I add the controls to the panel at runtime, I'd like to give the control a unique name string like how the VS IDE tracks the controls it already has and adds an extra number when it creates the default control name. I have tried checking the controls collection each time a new control is added, but wasnt sure if there was a good string comparison method to return a name with a unique number on the end that hasn't been used yet.

Sql Server - Getting Unique Field After Adding Row?

Jun 15, 2011

Possible Duplicate: Retrieve identity value from inserted record's primary key.I have a field with a unique field (that I don't have to update automatically) called ID. I'm using this code to add a field to it:

DB.Snippets.AddSnippetsRow(10, 0, Leaves, Coins, Date.Now, Language, Username, Description)

What I need to be able to do is get the unique field it adds. It +1's to ID every time I add a field there, but how do I get that without hacky database looping?

Require Each User To Have A Unique Id - Adding New Users ?

Aug 15, 2011

For my user system, I require each user to have a unique id. The reading in and saving of the user data is all done, but now I'm focusing on adding new users. In my add user dialog, I have the information fields required to create a new user, one of which is the ID (which must be unique). For this I have created a function that I thought would always give a unique id but it does not. paste the code below:

Adding Windows Media Player Component To WinForm

Jul 4, 2011

I've added a windows media player component to a windows form. Each time a richtextbox updates, I have the component play a sound using the code:
wmp.URL = "C:UsersJesseDesktopelectronicblip06.wav"
This works because autostart is enabled. My question is, how do I use the "correct" code to just play the wav file instead of loading it each time in order to increase performance. i.e., what is the play command.

Word 2007 Adding Adding Values To Combo List Box

Jun 7, 2011

I am trying to create a simple Word doc that when the user presses the button it takes the information in the boxes and tosses it into a template style paragraph. But my issue is that I have two combo list boxes as seen in the picture. I want to have two values in the drop down list as seen in the labels next to them but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do this in Word 2007. In Visual Studio this is much easier but I am work and need to snap this out for the folks at work. Is there an option that I can choose in the properties where I type in the values for each drop down or do I have to add them in at run time?

But to add the border to a GroupBox I must put the myGroupBox control in place of each existing GroupBox.Essentially, I there an easy way to give my existing GroupBoxes a border as redesigning my form with the new GroupBoxes is out of the question?

Now, I want to make, Serial2 to only work with one program. So for example, if I give my program to two friends, then I will give them Serial2, I want it to work for one friend only.

VS 2010 Adding New Row To Bound DGV?

Sep 28, 2010

I've been researching this all day, it say you must add a record to the datatable if you want to add a new row. This is my code.

Private Sub TagsdetailBindingSource_AddingNew(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.AddingNewEventArgs) Handles TagsdetailBindingSource.AddingNew
'Me.TagsdetailBindingSource.CancelEdit()

[code]....

But this code add two rows, the first row has the default data that I entered. The second row doesn't.

I think this is because it add a new row because the "AddingNew" was called. I can't find a way to cancel this "AddingNew". Maybe this code should go somewhere else.

I want the user to be able to use the "Add" button. I just want to insert some default data and then add the row to the grid so they can add another row without having to enter any data.

VS 2010 - Adding To Array Using Loop

Sep 30, 2010

What I'm trying to do is write a program to store my sports cards collection. Basically, just a forms based program that stores various data into files. Where I am stuck at the moment is I have a piece of code that opens a form to add card brands. It has a text box, and ADD button and a CANCEL button. What I want to do is be able to type a brand into the textbox and have it store it in a array when the ADD button is clicked, then allow another entry for another brand and have it stored into the array when the ADD button is clicked and so on until the CANCEL button is clicked. Then I would like for the data in the array to be written to a file. Where I'm having the problem is I can enter a brand name into the text box but the loop keeps adding that same brand name into the array.

Imports System.IO
Public Class AddCardBrand
Private CallingForm As Object
Private Sub btnAddBrandCancel_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnAddBrandCancel.Click
Dim form As New StartScreen()

VS 2010 - Adding Values To DataGrid Row?

Sep 25, 2011

I have a Datagrid with 5 columns, one of those columns is the only one to have fixed values.Let's put this in a simple way, that column (lets name it column A) contains rows with values from one to ten.With an API call I get some information, lets say I got this:

1 - Andrew - 1.8
8 - Peter - 2.8

Something like this.The first number is equal to the value on the column A, the other two are name and height. I will note receive all the values (one to ten) with call or full information relating to all the columns.How can I assign the information I receive to the proper row based on one of the value I get with the call? Another thing, I will have to create a lot of rows, do I need to add them row by row?

What I want to do is for every row of data in the datagridview, i want to add a column for checkbox. The checkbox will be enabled or disabled based on the value found in the field results. The first time I am pressing the button, it works fine. But the second time i query, it keeps adding another checkbox to the same row. Even for the nth time. Everytime i press the button, a checkbox is added. I just want one checkbox every time i query the dataset.

VS 2010 Adding A Resource File?

Jan 23, 2011

I've added multi-language support to my application by setting the Localizable property of each form to True and changing the Language property to the desired one. Then I change the Culture.

vb.net System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture = New System.Globalization.CultureInfo("de-DE")
System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = New System.Globalization.CultureInfo("de-DE")

VB automatically creates the resource files and this works all fine, but now I need to do something similar for Strings and MessageBoxes, e.g. MessageBox.Show(My.Resources.Exit). Everywhere I read that I need two resource files in order to do this, but I can't find where to add a second resource file myself.

Every forum post or google search result I found says, go to 'Project -> Add Resource', but I don't have the "Add Resource" menu option. Or they say, right click on your solution and go to 'Add -> Resource (RESX)', but I don't have a "Resource (RESX)" menu option either. When I go to 'Project -> Add New Item', there's no 'resource' option in the list either. Am I blind or does VB2010 Express not have an option to add resource files manually?

VS 2010 Adding Appointments To Outlook?

Jan 16, 2012

I am working on an internal project at work where we have an SharePoint Custom Visual Studio Workflow that we want to automatically update an Outlook calendar with.

Is there a way to get a calendar updated other than just your own?
We have a Vacation Calendar that we want to be populated, not necessarily the user's own calendar. However, I cannot seem to find any way to get a calendar updated other than my own.

We are using AD and stuff for our accounts. The Vacation Calendar is an account, but it doesn't return an Inbox when querying it's tables, so it's not quite a full Exchange account; it was created just for the calendar.

I have an account (SP_ServiceApp) that has been given rights to that Vacation Calendar account to be able to write, but I still can't get it. I can't find anything on the Internet that addresses this, so maybe it's not even possible.

Public Sub AddAppointment()
Dim oApp As Outlook.Application
Dim oNS As Outlook.NameSpace

VS 2010 Adding C# Project To Solution

Nov 9, 2011

I've added a C# project to my VB.NET solution and I'm trying to access all of the classes and namespaces within that C# project.However, I'm not having any luck. I've never had to do this before, so I'm a bit lost.After adding the project, I tried importing the namespace from it. When I do, I just get the green squiggly telling me that the namespace doesn't have any public members or couldn't be found.Since it does have public members, I'm assuming it's the latter issue.So is there anything I need to do in order to access besides just adding it?
