I am coding a simple calculator and I need the textbox to show the previous entries when I enter them. I hear the best way to do this is by Append Text? For example I click 3 Then + The textbox will show "3+" etcetera.
I have written a program that is 99% complete now, but it is one thing left.I need the program to append My.Settings.MyString to a txt file.I have tested with this y.Computer.FileSystem.WriteAllText("C:mytxt", my.settings.mystring,ue)But when it writes the string to the txt it writes it wrong! If i check whats in mystring by typing MsgBox(My.Settings.MyString) it shows the string perfectly in order (it's a multirow string), example:
What is the code to open a text file and append data to it, in visual basic express edition?Normally one would write:open "data.txt" for append as #1 but visual basic express does not accept it.
I am trying to append a new line to a text file. Sometimes it posts to a new line (like I want it to) and sometimes it appends to the current line, consequently screwing up my read. I even put VbNewLine in the code.
Here is the snippet: Dim outputline2 As String outputline2 = equip & "," & value Dim myfile2 = File.AppendText("equiped.txt") myfile2.WriteLine(outputline2, vbNewLine) myfile2.Close() [URL]
Below is the code which I am using to append data to a text file. Dim FILE_NAME As String = "C:cebsample.txt" Dim objWriter As New System.IO.StreamWriter(FILE_NAME, True) Dim record As String Dim amount As Integer Dim amt As Decimal [Code] .... Now I would like to save that updated file with another name.
I am trying to write code with IF statements for a payroll calculator. The first IF statement is getting a bit confusing. I have three text fields that I want to ensure have data before proceeding with the next set of code. This is the part I am not sure I am doing right.
IF IsNothing(txtHoursWorked.Text) OR IF IsNothing(txtEmpName.Text) OR IF IsNothing(txtHourlyPayRate.Text) Then
I have written the below code for a payroll calculator. When I run the program, it gives me my own error message box no matter if my number of hours fall within the 5-60 hours range as I have stipulated. Is there something wrong with my code? (well, obviously there is something wrong--I just cant find it!)
CODE:
'This program calculates the Gross and Net Pay as well as the Tax Deduction amount of an employee's wages when given the input of Employee Name, Tax Rate, Hours Worked, and Hourly Pay Rate.

I had a weird series of errors involving e.Graphics.DrawString() when painting a panel.I am using a barcode font [Code 128] with a library that converts text to the proper format for Barcode readers. That's fine, however, when I draw it to the panel, that's where things stop being fine:But, here's where things get funky. When I put it into a TextBox instead of drawing it via Graphics.DrawString(), everything is peachy:In fact, the TextBox one looks much better than the Graphics.DrawString() one! Am I doing something wrong?[code]
I have a program, which writes data to a text file in the following format.
test1 - test1 - test1 - test1
After writing the first line, the text fields are cleared to make space for another round of user input. Simply said, this is how it should look[code]....
I use a text file to store the settings from my program. Now when i save the settings the text file gets created and everything works correctly. I can load the settings without any error. Now when i quit my program and star it up again clicking the load button will clear out any data in my text file. So the file still exist but it empty. It happens when my program runs this line of code.
Dim o_read As system.IO.streamReader = system.IO.File.OpenText("C: est.txt")
That just tells o_read that it is a stream reader and which file to read. How does my file get cleared out by that?
I am attempting to append information to a textbox in VB. My app allows the user to choose a variety of options and displays all the information in a single, read-only text box.
I would like to set it up so every time an event triggers something to be written in the text box, it gets appended instead of overwriting the text currently in the box.
The only constraint is that text should be appended as a new line, not directly after the last sentence.
I have text file to read. If i find a line "T001" then i must add specific text beside that line. With my code now it write the specific text at the end of the file not beside the line "T001" This is my code so far

This question is a little more in depth than the typical append and save. I'm needing to append multiple controls text to 1 file. Basically what I have is:User inputs name in TextBox1 User inputs Service Type from selected list in ComboBox1 User checks of any or all CheckedListBox fields that apply. Now, all together, there are actually between 4 to 6 different checkedlistboxes. What I am wanting to do is when the user clicks the Submit button (Button1), at the bottom, it will write a text file of TextBox1.Text,omboBox1.SelectedItem.ToString, and all the checkedlistbox items. Now there is a small thing I may have to start another question on. For every checked item in a checked list box, I would like to writ
my app will be parsing an array of data and generating text strings (of around 80 chars each), which I then want to append to a text file. What is the best (fastest) way to do the file appends? file size will be up to 40K lines.
I have a button that append a sentence with some strings in it to a richtextbox. Say I've got a variable that contains multiple words, each one separated by a newline. What I'm trying to do is add specific text to the end of each line in that variable.
For example, say the variable contains...
alpha bravo charlie etc etc.
And say the text I want to append is "newtext"
So then I'd like the output to look like...
alpha newtext bravo newtext charlie newtext etc etc
What I tried to do is to split that variable into an array (separated by newline), and then use a For Each to append the newtext to each line in the array. But it's obvious I haven't messed around with VB in a long time, as something is wrong with my logic. Here's what I've got...
Dim Text_Array() As String Dim OriginalText As String Dim OutputText As String
I'm trying to make a calendar in vb.net and I have come across this problem. I want to append some text into an existing datatable row. When I watch my debugger it says:"In order to evaluate an indexed property, the property must be qualified and the arguments must be explicitly supplied by the user.".
Dim aantalRijen As Integer = 1 For x = 0 To 6 Dim dttopdrachten As New DataTable
I am using a label to display a song for an mp3 player. I wanted to scroll the text inside the label for anything that is longer than the label width. I figured out the width of the label and if the width of the text inside the label is longer. But I have no idea how to turn this into subtracting parts/pixels of the text currently displayed and how to append the subtracted parts to the end of the new text.[code]
