VS 2010 Array - Small Report Card Project - Pull 5 Students With Each Student Having 5 Test Scores A Piece

I'm basically trying to do a small report card project. I only need to pull 5 Students with each student having 5 Test Scores a piece. The full Code of what I have for the submit button is below. I have actually 3 questions.
1. I always seem to have trouble with them unless I initialize them when I dim them. Is there a better way than below
2. The below code works really well for Student 1 and all 5 test scores. Rather than do that code 5 times though, what is the best way for me to basically state that IF dblStudent1(intMax) = 4 Then Change dblStudent1(intMax) to dblStudent2(intMax) etc.
3. Would this be better suited towards a multidimensional array ?

I need assistance with posting lines from a text file (test scores) into an array. From there, I'll have to average the test scores, find the standard deviation (without using the built in function) and assign grades based on the test scores' deviation. I have already written the code for the user to search and upload a text file. And I should be able to do the standard deviation of the array, if someone can help give me an example of how to send the text file to array and average the lines of the array without using the built in math functions.

I'm not sure where I'm going wrong with this. it's supposed to let the user add scores to the list, then calculate the total, average, and count. However, it doesn't let me add more values to the list. Any help whatsoever would be awesome! Keep in mind, I am new to VB and programming languages, and was just playing around with code hoping for any sort of positive result, and therefore some of the code may not be necessary, or make sense. I want to build a VB program that will go to a web site and pull out a specific piece of data.I am using VB Express 2010 not sure if it belongs in this .net forum.I am successfully getting to the website using WebBrowser.navigate()The data is provided to me in XML format and I am told that it is ready to be retrieved. They tell me to use XML Parser.When I go to their web site I see the data I need to pull out there is a column with tags in front of each piece, the piece I need is between <Vr0> and </Vr0>.I have no resources other than the net currently I do have a dummies book ordered but will be at least next week (at the earliest) before my first book arrives.Can you explain how I can sort through the data and pull out the data in XML format on a web site?

I am working on an assignment for my Programming Logic and Design class. I also noticed a couple other similar posts but after going through them I still have an issue. I need someone with patience and can go through a solution with me from the Clearly Visual Basic book. I'm good with computers and can usually learn things relatively fast on my own time and in my own way, but I'm going to school for computer programming and, with certain things, I learn better with things explained to me rather than reading from a book. I want to create small database which handles Student Attendance Record it will store the roll calls of students on daily basis that teachers collect from the students in the class on paper and then later transfer it on computer .So my database Must contain Month, Year, Program (BCS, BIT, MS, MCS, MIT etc) Batch (1st, 2nd etc) and Subject (English, Math, Geography etc)
Suppose I want to Search for the Attendance Sheet of any month, year, Program, Batch or Subject, it returns me the required dataSo i come up with the Datadase which includes 5 dimension tables and one fact tableDimension Tables1. I need to set up a small program/script that can test simple web functionality.I already have a window that automatically load the right URL. What I need now is pointers to how I can make that program return a code if it can load the site, then automatically log in to the site and return a code if it is able or not to log in. Then log out, wait for five minutes and then refresh the site and run again.

Anyway, I'm a teacher and am writing a program that simply shows kids a word on a flashcard. There are 2 buttons, 1 to read the word and 1 to go to a new work. There are going to be 300 words. Really I'm just testing it right here. What I want to know is should I be inputting all the words right into the code like I did with "hi" and "not 1" (Don't ask. those are just the 2 random words I picked to test this out with). OR is there a better way (maybe somehow to type all the words on a text file and have the program randomly pull one of them (I don't know how to do this).

im currently designing a student application form in my VS2008 Project.Theres a lot of information that the end user needs to insert for eg, Applicants Info, Parenta Info, Medical history etc What i want is some advice on how i can design this? At the moment i have too many textboxes and comboboxes for the information that needs to be provided and im losing space on the application form. Do i split the form into different parts using tabs, ie tab for student, tab for parent etc or is there a better way?

I have created a class called Student, with five private variables: [code] My main form is divided into a number of different sub procedures. In one of them, I used a streamreader to take the first name, last name, and phone numbers of a list of records in a text file called PersonalInfo.txt. It seems to work just fine. [code] I have another, separate sub procedure in which I read a different text file containing the "averages" for the students. The first average from Averages.txt belongs with the first student in PersonalInfo.txt. The second average goes with the second student.. How do I add the student average information to the properties of the student records created in the previous sub procedure? [code] I realize why this wouldn't work, but I can't figure out how I could use my counter to reference a specific student.

I am trying to import a text file into a data table using VB.NET. I need to loop thru each line of the text file and put certain elements of that line in a new row of the data table. The line may contain 50 elements, but I only need to get 15 of them. The very first line is a header row, which contains "File Name", "Object Name", "Object Weight", etc. The trick is the element locations move from file to file. For example, "File Name" element may be located at 0 in one file and then 15 in the next file. I need to find the exact location of my desired elements and save them to a variable. Then use that variable to locate the exact piece of data in the text file line to place in my new row.
The code below obviously doesn't work, but it kind of illustrates what I need to have done.

I am working on a Credit Card Project Program. Where you can create an account by typing in an account number which then starts you out with a $1,000 credit limit and balance.I have most of all the programming done for the project. Except for the updating of the current balance when charges are made and I'm having a problem with the interest which works but only shows you the interest fee when you calculate and not the interest fee + balance due. But I wont worry about that now.
What is the method of doing this. Can I write a new function that will update the balance available based on the charges or payments made? Or can I somehow program that into the current functions?

I just got into VB 2010 with SQL 2008 Server Report. I was able to create a report as my wish and it's vieable via direct url (URL). But I want to pass login Information and Selection parameters to the report. But I don't want to pass them thru URL, So I want to load them from the application (winform) and launch the report in iexplorer.

Its been a very long time since I don't show up here.Now I am back with a small project for internal use, but I need a little help.I want to make a program that allows me to change file attributes, like 'hidden', 'read-only' and 'system'.It seems pretty simple, but I want that multiple files can be modified at once. For this I would need a list that shows the files into the interface. There is what I can't get.
I first thought on a listbox, but there is also a listview which seems much more complete, but I just don't know how to use it. I was wondering if I could make something like: I open a folder, all the items inside that folder would be listed inside the listview.I learned a bit, but not enough. I've set the listview to 'details' mode, so I can actually list items. Also, I've added three collums: one for file name, other for file size and another for file attributes. I just need to learn now how they works.

I'm having an issue trying to get a wage calculator to recognize an overtime formula. The calculator has to have the overall function of figuring the gross pay, Federal Tax Withheld (15%), and the net pay based on the hourly wage and hours worked for the week. The issue I am having is the wage * 1.5 entry (underlined) where it sates it is not an array or a method and cannot have an argument list. After reading the file, I want to load the NameId, the ColourId and the Text into a multidimensional array. Anything I have found about loading into an array shows text being separated by small delimiters like commas, but this I cannot do because I need to use this format. What I am wanting to do is load all of the NameId's into a listbox and when a certain NameId is selected, it will bring up the Text in a TextBox and the Colour value in a ComboBox.
