I am a new user to VB and I am having difficulty with one of my assignments. The assignment states that to create an application that allows a user to enter three test scores each for three students. The application should calculate each student's average test score and assign a letter grade. The application should prompt the user for each student's name and three test scores.

I'm basically trying to do a small report card project. I only need to pull 5 Students with each student having 5 Test Scores a piece. The full Code of what I have for the submit button is below. I have actually 3 questions.
1. I always seem to have trouble with them unless I initialize them when I dim them. Is there a better way than below
2. The below code works really well for Student 1 and all 5 test scores. Rather than do that code 5 times though, what is the best way for me to basically state that IF dblStudent1(intMax) = 4 Then Change dblStudent1(intMax) to dblStudent2(intMax) etc.
3. Would this be better suited towards a multidimensional array ?

I'm not sure where I'm going wrong with this. it's supposed to let the user add scores to the list, then calculate the total, average, and count. However, it doesn't let me add more values to the list. Any help whatsoever would be awesome! Keep in mind, I am new to VB and programming languages, and was just playing around with code hoping for any sort of positive result, and therefore some of the code may not be necessary, or make sense. I have to create an application that lets a user enter as much grades he wants. The grades are between 0 and 100 and they can't be negative. I have to create an application that prompts the user to enter today's sales for five stores. The program should then display a simple bar graph comparing each store's sales. Create each bar in the bar graph by displaying a row of asterisks (*) in a list box. Each asterisk in a bar represents $100 in sales. I have to make two different versions of this program. One using a "do while ... loop" and the other using a "for ... next loop". Could someone give me a hint on how to do this. I the "do while ... loop" version and I have had some problems, especially with converting the numbers to asterisks.

this is my first vb. and i have assignment and i have been trying for hours but i couldn't do it right I have to create an application that prompts the user to enter today's sales for five stores. Create a loop to prompt for an amount for the first store using an inputbox and do not exit until you have good data. The inputs cannot be negative or greater than 5000, but may contain decimal values. The program should then display a simple bar graph corresponding to the amount of sales using a row of asterisks (*) in a listbox. Each asterisk represents $100 in sales. I need someone with patience and can go through a solution with me from the Clearly Visual Basic book. I'm good with computers and can usually learn things relatively fast on my own time and in my own way, but I'm going to school for computer programming and, with certain things, I learn better with things explained to me rather than reading from a book. I need assistance with posting lines from a text file (test scores) into an array. From there, I'll have to average the test scores, find the standard deviation (without using the built in function) and assign grades based on the test scores' deviation. I have already written the code for the user to search and upload a text file. I'd like to create a simple application to determine the writing speed. In this application I want to view a line of text (may be more than one line) to the user to write it. And I want to select (higlight) the character the user pressed in my line and to move like a cursor to the next character (or to put underline under the current charater). How can I do that? and what is the object or component i must use to insert the text. I have to create a program that ask the user to enter the amount of hours work for 5 diferent projects in textboxes. The user have to enter the time he worked in minutes. Ex: 153, 280, 600, 130, 20... The total then is out putted into a textbox in this format "13 Hours and 35 Minutes" I'm having dificulties making the conversion and the separation from hours and minutes. I understand that the total is divided by 60, but if we fallow the above numbers the total hours comes out to 1183 / 60 = 19.71. So I'm having problems with the .71 mnts or digits... so from this total I have to output the total of in this particular format: "19 Hours and ?

I currently have a program that allows users to download files into a folder of there choice. I currently have 10 different forms all with a text box to show folder location and a browse button for user to find it, but what I want to do is create a form that will appear at the start where the end user can enter the folder location so that they don't have to enter the folder path for every download they want to do. How would I go about doing this I have a textbox, browse button and an OK button but have no idea what to do next.

I want to build an application that checks every second for certain windows and then react according to that.
My Goal:I'm building the application for a pc in a Students Home with about 10 users. To create 10 different user accounts for windows will be annoying and crowded, because new people come in every year(or couple of months) and then old accounts have to be deleted and new ones created.
I want to build an application that accepts folderPaths or window names.Lets say user1 creates a folder with the name "Susan" that she wants to protect (her personal files/picture/work will be stored there. She opens the application, selects the folder. The application saves the folder path and her password that she enters.
If the application detects that a user is trying to open/move/delete/copy/whatever that folder, the app must pop up a password box. Correct password gives her the freedom she wants, wrong password just ignores the open/move/delete/copy/whatever command.

Create an application that allows the user to select or enter into a combo box the number of days a person will work, and calculates the total amount of pay she will receive over that period of time. Salary is one penny the first day, two pennies the second day, four pennies the third say, and continuing to double each day.
The combo box must list the following items: 30, 180, 365, and 1000. Must be the default drop down box. Use a validating event procedure on the combo box.
The program should go through a loop once for each day, doubling the number of pennies with each iteration of the loop. You will need a running totl of the number of pennies that you add to with each iteration. To calculate the total amount of pay, multiply the total number of pennies by .01 and show the result in currency format.
