VS 2010 - Displaying Number Of Storms In Specified Year (Use Of Arrays)

Mar 26, 2011

I am working on a program that will display the number of storms in a specified year. This program uses a text file with years 1990-2010 and the number of storms for each year.

txt file:
Year 2010
6
Year 2009
3
Year 2008
8
Year 2007
15
Year 2006
10 .....

A user selects a year from a ComboBox (cboYear) and the program displays the number of storms using a label object (lblNumberOfStroms) for that year. The user then can click a button (btnDisplayStatistics) and the program will display using a label object, the number of storms for that year. This seems like a simple application but I am having trouble grasping the use of arrays concept.

Forms :: Displaying Objects On PropertyGrid

Mar 31, 2009

I am having a problem with objects that have other objects as properties on a property grid. Now when I display the object clsPropsFrame on the property grid, everything shows up as expected, except when I try to edit the x, y, or z of location which is of type clsPropsVec3, it ignores the change. What's strange is that when I type the vector in as a string (like "0, 16, 0"), it changes.

I have the following
'//////////////////Object Component///////////////////////////
<TypeConverter(GetType(ExpandableObjectConverter))> _
Public Class clsPropsVec3
Inherits ExpandableObjectConverter
Private refvec As TV_3DVECTOR
Public Sub New()
[Code] .....

I noticed that when I changed a component of clsPropsVec3, the property change in clsPropsFrame does not get executed. I tried making it fire of an event when a component is changed in clsPropsVec3, with the following additional
Public Property X() As Single
Get
Return refvec.x
End Get
Set(ByVal value As Single)
[Code] .....
But for some reason it ever fires off the ValueChanged event. So how can I make the sub properties of clsPropsVec3 work?

VS 2010 User Control Property - Group Attributes?

Apr 2, 2010

this questions has be answered partially, but I can't find any full tutorial for this problem.I created my own user control (an advanced list with columns). Each column has different attributes like width, colour and text.I want to able to add this user control onto a form and select/edit the different attributes of each column. Hence, for each column in my user control (these columns are created beforehand, no columns can be added or removed from it) there should be a property in the property-menu. Each of these column-properties should be expanded (like the normal size-property in most default vb-controls that can be expanded with the little plus to show the width and height individually. What i mean by this, is: In the property-menu there should be attributes like Column1, Column2, Column3. Each of these attributes should be expanded to show the attributes like width or colour.

Currently I have different properties for different values of the same column, like Column1Wodth, Column1Colour, etc, but I want to group this under one value Column1.I think this is quite an easy solution, but forgive me, I spent more than 4 hours on google, but couldn't find a proper solution.

.NET 2010 Custom Control, Multiline String Property To Be Edited In The Designer?

Class Property Arrays Not Holding/ Updating Values

Oct 1, 2011

I am trying to use several Class arrays to hold values that I will cycle through at a later point to perform some calculations. I need to change the array sizes to fit the data as it is entered. I am using one procedure to set the first element of each array and then a separate procedure to pass the additional values as they are entered.

Until my last attempt at changing my code, my StartBalance sub seemed to work, I could step through and see the values assigned to the class arrays in the code block. However, when it moved on to the Transaction sub, it did not recognize that the first set of values were set, the array shows zero values for index 1.

I have gone through several changes trying different ideas from reading blogs and articles, but I guess I am not understanding how these work. I even used the class arrays directly instead of the Property procedures to see if I would get a different result, but I do not.

I believe I must be approaching this incorrectly and though I can find dozens of examples of setting class variables and even a couple on using arrays as class variable, I can not find any that show how to then pass values to those arrays.

Public Class Statement
Private _tranDate(1) As Date
Private _amount(1) As Double

Converting Control Arrays?

Jan 18, 2012

I've got an issue with control arrays from VB6 and converting that code to VB.net. It was suggested to me that the forum has a lot of info on what became of control arrays and each one I've found so far seems to indicate that VB.net has devolved in thatrespect. The solutions I've seen all involve writing segments of code to replace the simple functionality of a group name for a control and a simple index property. Perhaps I've not found the right thread, but it seems that VB.net is woefully lacking in control arrays. In VB6, all I had to do was C&P a control and click, 'Yes,' to create a control array when prompted by VB. The Index was automatically created and incremented for each successivecopy of the control. It was simplicity itself to merely reference the Index for a control group.
