I put a PropertyGrid control and set the control to be a button on my form and i run it and change some properties and reflected on the button but when i restart the application nothing is saved so i have to save it to the disk like serialize the control is this the right thing?

View 9 Repliesi had designed a form with various controls added some days ago. Accordingly i had coded the controls. And today i didnt like the look and feel of the form, so i copied the controls for a while and then re-pasted it over a new control (panel). Now when i double click to see the underlying code of the control generates a new event. I mean i had a button as Button1 and its underlying code was under the Button1_Click event. But now its is like Button1_Click_1 which i dont understand. Is it due to formation of control array or what? I want the button to be remapped to Button1_Click event.

I've populated a PropertyGrid with a custom class. How do you create and display a sub property similar to Size (Height, Width) which has two values or Point(X,Y)? For example, the class is Test and the property is Item as string. I want to expand Item to have two sub properties, A and B.

I am using a class to track if a user cleared their personal information found within some text boxes on a form. In the button click event to clear the text boxes I am creating a new object to the class and assigning true to one property value. Sounds simple until I try and submit the form with a different button, and create a another object reference that I use in an IF statement to check the property value for true. Every time the statement fails because the value being returned from the getter in my class is false.

in my program I have a section that is outlined as listed below - in the page load, the label's visibility is set to false.

It takes about a minute or 2 to run updatedata as it is doing multiple things to a database - when I execute this code, it stalls and loads the data, then when done I do get my label that says loading complete, but I never see the label before it is done loading to tell the user that it is processing. Is there any way to force it to show before UpdateData() is called so that it shows during the load time?

I'm making a control and I am trying to finalize my design time properties grid. I have several List(of Class) items as public properties and when I click on the design time menu (while testing the control) there is the word "Collection" and a button with an ellipsis (...) that brings up a neat pop up with the buttons Add/remove and all of the public properties of the collection's class on the right hand side. Basically for a non-collection instance of a class (with public properties) I'd like a similar button to show up. I know I could put all of the properties in the main control class and group them, but I like the pop up box feature. Anyway to duplicate this? (think font grid item etc.)

Ok so I wanted to create a application that would, somewhat manage the users own collection of video games (Lame i know ) you add your games to a listview item, with an image and some sub items, viewing details, using a textbox to search your games... etc i hope you get it
Ok so what i cannot figure out, or find by combing the internet! is how to save all new items the user adds... And including: the item, all the sub items and the picture thats associated with the item.! Later i eventually was thinkin of ading a "wish list" feature where you could add the games you want to get later and also tag it with a release date so when the date comes up, it will let you know, maybe through some alarming way or textbox somehwere... I have been working on a project. In this project I wish to be able to create electronic signatures. I have perfected the signing routine and also creating the memory astream and saving and retrieving an image. The problem comes in when I retrieve the image from the database. The image being saved does not capture the signature (the changes I've made to the picturebox)
1. I load a small bmp as the template on where to sign with by setting the picturebox.imagelocation to a network share
2. Using mousemove and mouseclick, and draw events I draw a signature on top of the picture box
3. I picturebox.image.save(memorystream) the picture box to a sql server from a button click event.
4. When I retrieve the saved image there are no edits (No signature) only the original image. I am sure that the original image is going in and that it is coming out every time.
My question is thus: How can I capture the signature that I have edited into the picture box. I have tried picturebox.save like I mentioned above and I have tried picturebox.update() but without success. Does anyone know what I missing I think that the answer lies in refreshing or updating the picturebox, but I'm not sure how.

The purpose of this is to revert any new changes back to the original configuration. My application checks the state of each of the registry keys on startup. Is there a way to have it save the current configuration and then reload that configuration later ?

Is there a pre-built dialog or control for displaying properties at runtime? I'd like to have something just like the IDE properties window button for my application.
View 4 RepliesWhat I've done is create a User Control Library (Project) and I've added a single User Control to that project. The control contains a single FlowLayoutPanel, and I created a Property on the control itself to pass the FlowDirection from the Control to its FlowLayoutPanel child.
Build, reference, component appears in the Toolbox and everything works fine, but the property on the control does not appear in the Properties window when I go to edit it at design time.
I would like to be able to set Control visual properties such as color, boarder, flat style, etc. on the base class of the control so that as I add new instances of the control, each instance inherits the visual properties of the base. I have tried using Application Settings but it appears as though I need to reference an application setting manually each time I add the control to a form. This is a Windows Form question.
View 4 RepliesI tried it and get an error but maybe I'm tring the wrong way. Can a usercontrol inherate an application defined class ie.. could you inheritance a classic rect class into a user control to add the hight and width properties to the control without having to do all the coding all over again? Currently I just declair a private instance of the class within the control and then encapsalate. It would be nice if I could just inherit all the functionality of my classes into controls designed to implament the classes.
