Properties Of Control Changed
Apr 6, 2009i had designed a form with various controls added some days ago. Accordingly i had coded the controls. And today i didnt like the look and feel of the form, so i copied the controls for a while and then re-pasted it over a new control (panel). Now when i double click to see the underlying code of the control generates a new event. I mean i had a button as Button1 and its underlying code was under the Button1_Click event. But now its is like Button1_Click_1 which i dont understand. Is it due to formation of control array or what? I want the button to be remapped to Button1_Click event.

Nov 14, 2010I am using a class to track if a user cleared their personal information found within some text boxes on a form. In the button click event to clear the text boxes I am creating a new object to the class and assigning true to one property value. Sounds simple until I try and submit the form with a different button, and create a another object reference that I use in an IF statement to check the property value for true. Every time the statement fails because the value being returned from the getter in my class is false.

Label Not Showing Up When Properties Changed To Visable?
Apr 17, 2012in my program I have a section that is outlined as listed below - in the page load, the label's visibility is set to false.

lblloading.text = "loading please wait"
UpdateData()
lblloading.text = "Loading Complete"
It takes about a minute or 2 to run updatedata as it is doing multiple things to a database - when I execute this code, it stalls and loads the data, then when done I do get my label that says loading complete, but I never see the label before it is done loading to tell the user that it is processing. Is there any way to force it to show before UpdateData() is called so that it shows during the load time?

VB 2008 during a compile gave me the following error: Error reading icon 'C:Usersxxxxxx x xxxxxAppDataRoamingMicrosoftVBExpress9.0VSProjectApplication.ico' -- The system cannot find the path specified.
The file "VSProjectApplication.ico" is in 'C:UsersDennisAppDataRoamingMicrosoftVBExpress9.0'
Somewhere in the VB2008 "configuration" files I believe that I need to manually change the old path to the new path.
I found the old path in the ".suo" file. The ".suo" file is not a text file. How can I edit the .suo file, save it so that it will work?

Apr 27, 2011I'm making a control and I am trying to finalize my design time properties grid. I have several List(of Class) items as public properties and when I click on the design time menu (while testing the control) there is the word "Collection" and a button with an ellipsis (...) that brings up a neat pop up with the buttons Add/remove and all of the public properties of the collection's class on the right hand side. Basically for a non-collection instance of a class (with public properties) I'd like a similar button to show up. I know I could put all of the properties in the main control class and group them, but I like the pop up box feature. Anyway to duplicate this? (think font grid item etc.)

Mar 5, 2012In the form design I set up a TableLayoutPanel, 20x20 cells and in cell (1,1) a PictureBox (called Target) containing the image of a small target. The properties box for Target shows some very promising properties, Column and Row - and if you overwrite the values in the properties box, the PictureBox obligingly shifts to the corresponding cell position in th design. However in VB it is not possible to refer to Me.Target.Row or .Column - neither appears during coding in the menu of properties, and deliberately coding either of them produces an error like
Error 1 'row' is not a member of 'System.Windows.Forms.PictureBox'.
1. Why does the properties box show properties that cannot be altered programmatically?
2. How can my program move Target around in the TableLayoutPanel?

Jan 16, 2009I'm working on a Hazardous Materials label printing program. One of the options is to do an "NFPA" label. Since there are 4 values required with 4 or 6 options, the ratings are entered via radio buttons in a group box. That's working okay. I display values in the NFPA diamond as they're entered: left quadrant blue, top quadrant red, left yellow, bottom red. I'm having trouble with the label in which the rating will be displayed on top of a jpg diamond for the white. In this quadrant the text can be up to 4 characters. I can accept the text going into an adjacent block a little, but the corners of the label overlap into another quadrant/color. I reduced the font size which solved the overlap problem but the font is then too small and looks terrible. I tried to make the background of the label transparent to let the color come through correctly but that's not a valid value for label.background. I'm figuring that the transparent background is the best solution. What can I use that will accept a transparent background so the color shows through?
I'm trying to set the transparent property via label properties properties, not via code. Here's the code if it makes any difference:

Nov 25, 2009What I've done is create a User Control Library (Project) and I've added a single User Control to that project. The control contains a single FlowLayoutPanel, and I created a Property on the control itself to pass the FlowDirection from the Control to its FlowLayoutPanel child.
Build, reference, component appears in the Toolbox and everything works fine, but the property on the control does not appear in the Properties window when I go to edit it at design time.

Oct 8, 2009I have a BLL class which contains properties for the fields in a Country table (CountryCode, CountryName, etc). It also has a property ioDAL, which is a reference to a DAL class (created with SubSonic 2.2), which has same named fields.
I have a LoadRecord() method which calls the DAL's FetchById() method that populates the DAL properties by calling the database (SQL Server 2005 FWIW).What I then want to do, rather than writing code to populate each BLL property from its DAL equivalent, is to use AutoMapper (from CodePlex). I think the line should be something like
Mapper.CreateMap(ioDAL, Me)()but this gives errors "Value of type (DAL class / namespace naming) cannot be converted to 'System.Type'" and "Value of type (BLL class / namespace naming) cannot be converted to 'System.Type'".

Jul 26, 2011I'm trying to write a little utility which will check periodically and tell me if/when a web page's (could be any URL) content has changed. I've read the other postings but they don't really answer my question (as far as I can tell).I know for static pages there is a last-modified header. However, what about dynamic pages? I got Oli's comment that storing a hash of the contents works but that's not really idea because the page might simply have a time stamp on it (the date-time that the page was produced). Clearly, in this case, the content would be different on every single request even though nothing significant has changed.So, now I'm thinking to tie it to a percentage of 'changedness.' Something like, more than 5% changed will cause the 'changed' logic to run.

I would rather not add a timer, I would rather have an event that fires when mobjlistener.Connected changes, but if I can't I will go ahead and use the timer instead.The problem I have that I need to detect when this changes is because sometimes I get disconnected for an unknown reason using the TCP Multi-User Chat, it has handlers for disconnected, but whatever is causing the disconnect, it is just not detecting it, so if I could make it so that it will trigger when this is changed, then I can stop the problem I have once and for all.
C# - Mdi Children Changed In .Net?
Apr 15, 2010Is there a simple way of tracking the change of an Mdi's children i.e. when they are created and closed, something like an event OnMdiChildListChanged (I realise this doesn't actually exist).
I am also aware that I could have a method within my Mdi that handles the creation of child forms and logs the state of them or even create an Interface that defines that a child form has a "NotifyParent" method that is then called on close of the form, but i was wondering if there was any built in events that i could plumb into?

When a user using my application clicks on a row in the grid, a triangle appears in a column on the left of the grid indicating the selected row. However, if the user does nothing, after several minutes, the selected row changes to the first row in the grid and the triangle indicating the selected row moves to the first row.

Sep 18, 2011I've been trying to make a login system for my application. Which seems to work, but when I try to connect to the database itself, it won't work. I used this code to check the exception:

The code I use for the connection is:

Asp.net - Data Not Being Changed In TextBox?
Dec 16, 2011Ok, I have been going around and around with this for hours (Searching, etc). This is what I want to do, I want to load data into a Text Box and if the user changes the text in the Text Box I want to be able to save the new text.
My problem in the TxtBox_TextChanged event the data contained in the txtNarrative Text box is the new data that the user typed in (<>ABCD) but in the btnSubmit_Click event the data contained in txtNarrative is the original value ABCD.

Asp.net - Keep Changed Status Of CheckBoxList?
Feb 29, 2012So, I'm running VB.net 3.5. I have a dynamic list of server names, and I want to put them in a CheckBoxList. The list is populated and, using that same list, I make a graph of the performance for each server listed. I want to be able to check and uncheck the checkboxes representing servers and, when I lick an update button, it'll create a new graph and graph only the servers that are still checked. I noticed that the page still loads before the button click is handled, so the CheckBoxList will repopulate itself before being able to read the current CheckBoxList. This is my load. And I populate my checkboxlist inside ShowView()
