I've populated a PropertyGrid with a custom class. How do you create and display a sub property similar to Size (Height, Width) which has two values or Point(X,Y)? For example, the class is Test and the property is Item as string. I want to expand Item to have two sub properties, A and B.

I am using a loop to update properties of each object of a set of custom objects. The routine knows which controls to update because the controls value is not empty, I don't want the routine setting the corresponding properties to nothing when the control is empty. Now I know how to do this perfectly fine with IF statements such as:
CODE:
But this feels really redundant doing that same IF block over and over for each property/control combination, I thought about creating a separate routine that takes the control as an argument and does all the repetitive IF blocks but I don't know how I could also pass an object property to tell the routine to update that particular property.

What I've done is create a User Control Library (Project) and I've added a single User Control to that project. The control contains a single FlowLayoutPanel, and I created a Property on the control itself to pass the FlowDirection from the Control to its FlowLayoutPanel child.
Build, reference, component appears in the Toolbox and everything works fine, but the property on the control does not appear in the Properties window when I go to edit it at design time.

1 - Need to create a kind of composite property, like the font property, that it's showed with a plus sign to expand. For example i need to define a new pen, i need to define the color and the width... 2 - I need to define the color for one brush, but if i create a property of the type brush in the PropertyGrid it appears like "System.Drawing.SolidBrush"

I'm trying to add a custom DropDown to the PropertyGrid for a control. I am adding the TrackBar control.It works fine, except, I would like to have the values updated in the PropertyGrid as I move the TrackBar. As it is now, it only updates the PropertyGrid when I finish and click off the TrackBar.I know the problem lies in the Type Editor. How can I get it to allow interim values to be processed. Is there some callback function I can use?

I've been following this article:and have everything working.Under the Support for Custom Types section, it introduces a collapsable type for the spell check options. The option are added together to produce a string that is displayed in the grid in the Spell Check Options row. Is it possible to get this string directly from the 'AppSettings' class or do I need to add another property and copy the code from the ConvertTo and ConvertFrom functions?

I was wondering if there is a library or code snippet available for .NET (or that I can translate to .NET) to display animated PNG files (on the Graphics object, or even in a custom control)?

I have an object with a property that is a collection. When I point the PropertyGrid to the object it displays the ellipses for the collection. When I click it I get the generic collectioneditor. Of course the Add put fails because my collection is strongly typed. I need an example of how to create a collectioneditor that will create my collection's objects.

I am using a PropertyGrid control to edit my class properties and I am trying to set certain properties read-only depending on other property settings.This is the code of my class:
Imports System.ComponentModel
Imports System.Reflection
Public Class PropertyClass[code].....
This is the code I am using to edit the values:
Dim c As New PropertyClass
PropertyGrid1.SelectedObject = c
The problem is that when I set SomeProperty to True, nothing happens and when I then set it to False again it sets all properties Read-Only.

I am somewhat new to object oriented programming and am attempting to flatten a Linq object hierarchy by using a shim class.how to initalize a derived class with property values from a base class?I have two objects, a base object with about 100 properties, and a derived object which inherits from the base object and adds a few additional properties beyond those of the base object. My simple constructor creates the derived object, but I am looking for a way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object.Right now I am using reflection to iterate over the properties individually and I suspect there may be a better way. The following example shows my shim class constructor for the derived class, and two properties:
newProperty1 - a new string property of the derived class
flattenedProperty2 - a new string property of the derived class, copied from a 2nd-level object of the base class
Code example:
Public Class derivedObj
Inherits baseObj
Private _newProperty1 As String[code].......
Is this the correct constructor approach to flatten the object hierarchy using a shim class? My second question relates to initialization of properties in the derived class. The constructor above creates the derived object, but what is the best way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object? The following code uses reflection to iterate over the properties individually, but I suspect there may be a better way.
Code example:
' property names are in the string array fieldNames
'baseObjQuery is an ienumerable of baseObj
'derivedObjList is a list of derivedObj[code].....
Is there a simple way to initialize values for the properties in the derived object based upon the values of the common properties in the base object?

I want to build a MVC helper function for which I pass a Entity Framework object and have it build a select. Generally speaking I tried something like this:
Public Function RenderSelect(ByVal helper As HtmlHelper, ByVal sSelectName As String, ByVal aItmes As Array, Optional ByVal sTitleKeyName As String = "name", Optional ByVal sValueKeyName As String = "id") As String
' open select
[Code].....
However, it isn't working. It would be great to have a way to do this and pass the current entity object.

I have created a custom user control (JCUserControl), and I am using it in the Main Window. And my Main Window has no codebehind. I have this in the JCUserControl codebehind:
Private Sub ImmediateRadioButton_Checked(sender As System.Object, e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles ImmediateRadioButton.Checked
SomeTextBox.IsEnabled = False
End Sub
When I run it, it fails with the NullReferenceException. If I comment out the SomeTextBox.IsEnabled = false, it runs without any problems.
Edit: Found out that I could just check if the radio buttons are loaded before doing whatever I want to do.
Private Sub ImmediateRadioButton_Checked(sender As System.Object, e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles ImmediateRadioButton.Checked
If ImmediateRadioButton.IsLoaded Then
SomeTextBox.IsEnabled = False
End If
End Sub

I created a custom datagridview column for a progressbar and included customizable color properties but I can't get them to work right. After compiling, the properties show up correctly in the Edit Columns popup editor, but changing the values has no effectThe designer generated code shows the original values and manually changing them there has the desired effect(I know you're not supposed to, just testing). Here is the code for the column even though I don't think the issue is stemming from any coding errors there.
Imports System.Drawing
Imports System.ComponentModel
Imports System.Drawing.Drawing2D

Basically, I'm making a teacher gradebook. Fore each column, I need to add properties called Assignment,DateAssigned, DateDue, PerfectScore, AssignmentType, etc.
