VS 2010 Getting Data From DataBound GridView?

I have a DataTable that is bound to my GridView via a method a created. The function returns a new DataTable each time, so I don't have direct access to the data that is in the DataTable.
I'm trying to update my database with the data from the DGV, but anytime I try accessing the columns or rows, I get an error saying the column/row index isn't correct.
I'm using the RowValidatedEvent and if use the following code in a dummy project while manually adding the columns, the result is predictable.
VB.NET
MessageBox.Show(dgv.Item(e.ColumnIndex, e.RowIndex).Value.ToString)
But when I do the same with my bound DGV, I get the exception mentioned above. This leads me to believe that I need to access the DataTable directly, but I can't because I get it from a method.
So is there a way to access the grid view's bound data? I've been playing around with various properties, but have come up short so far.

I am attempting to use a GridView in asp using VB and I get an error message about content.I did some research and reformatted the XML document the datasource is referencing but still cant seem to get the GridView to generate.Error Message: "The data source for GridView with id 'GridView1' did not have any properties or attributes from which to generate columns.Ensure that your data source has content." I have a gridview with a button, and when the button is clicked, it fires a rowcommand procedure and adds a new row to the database. Everything works fine until I add a databound drop down list to the gridview.
With a databound dropdown list, the page loads fine, but when I click the button the error shows as "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". here is my code

I've got an asp:DataGrid which has an asp:Gridview within it and this has many nested asp:Repeater's within that and i'm trying to reference the nested repeater from within my OnItemDataBound function [code]This code may not be the simplest way of doing this but i've taken over someone else's work and need a quick fix before re-coding it all

In my form I have four text boxes (2 in each row); Textbox_FN1, Textbox_LN1 in row 1 and Textbox_FN2,Textbox_LN2 in row 2. When a button is clicked; I want to pass the row number to the following procedure which needs to read values from two text boxes and write to DatagridView. The code below writes the literal "Textbox_FN1.txt" but I need actual value from the textbox control.

I have an object databound to a WinForm. One property, BOLNumber is bound to a textbox on the form. When you change the value in the form, the underlying BOLNumber property is changed. But the property setter does some "formatting" to the value. I want to BOLNumber textbox to reflect the changes to the value made in the property setter immediately upon the textbox losing focus. I tried implementing the INotifyPropertyChanged interface, but I am either doing something wrong or misunderstanding something it would seem. How do I get the databound control to reflect the changes to the underlying data source?

I'm sure there is a pretty simple answer to this, or at least I hope there is.I've created a data source (Teradata table) and opted not to save any username or password info when doing so with the "Add data source wizard" the reason for this is because the passwords change every 3 months. I have a form that is bound to the data source (teradata database) but when opened i receive the message "[Teradata Database] [8017] The UserId, Password or Account is invalid." because there is no username or password data saved. For example, i can open a linked table (the same table) via access and i'm prompted to enter a password (ODBC connection).

I have a user control inside of a repeater that is being bound by a sqldatasource. I get the following error: Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control. EDIT: NEVERMIND Egg on my face. I was getting this databind error because I was binding it somewhere else in an effort to troubleshoot my real problem from last friday but I forgot about it.
WHAT MY REAL PROBLEM IS: The usercontrol is getting bound before the properties get set so it appears as if they are never set. When stepping through I see that they get on the property is hit before the set on the property is hit. For example if I put <%# EVal("Address_ID") %> before the user control I will see the ID displayed but then the user control will display an emptydatatemplate because it is being passed the ID of 0.

I need to quickly demonstrate a project and decided to create a user control that is connected to an Access database through pure simple data connections (create the dataset and drag it on the control.)When I build the project and add the usercontrol to panel control on the main form, no data is shown in the datagrid.When I add the data components directly on the main form, the data is displayed properly. why I can't get my databound user control to display the data on my main form?

I've pretty much just started in playing with Visual Basic Studio 2010 and have been using this site for lots of answers so thought I'd join up and harass more directlyI've been trying to move items between two lists, one is databound to a bindingsource, the other isn't. I found out that you can't really move items from databound lists, but you can remove from the datasource instead. This works fine until I want to move the item back - it fills a blank line with seemingly no data.

I have a gridview which generate a link based on certain condition inside the Grid from code behind. What I want to achieve is when I click on that link, I want to catch all the information from the row that the link is in. So for example, if row 1, 2, and 4 has links in cell 5, When I click row 1's link, I want to get all the cell value from row 1. When I click on row 2's link, I want to get all the cell value from row 2, etc. I am somewhat close but not quite. When I click on row 2, I still get the same value from row 1, same as when I click on row 4, I get the same value from row In short, I want to get the row's value based on the link that's in the row. I am trying to loop through the rows of my gridview and retrieve the data key value of each row and then execute some code to run sql queries. How can I get the data key value of each row in variable? right now I am receiving an error message saying:

I have a form consisting of datagridview and two buttons of update and load all.. I have used fillby method to obtain data from database. The query seems to be working fine, except that the data is not shown in the gridview. As in, for the qeury, if the returned rows are 2, it will show 3 rows in the gridview, but all empty.

I am using visual studio 2008. I have a winforms app that takes data from an xml doc. I store the data in a ms sql database that I have created via a stored procedure. When Irun the app the data from the xml doc is captured and put in the database, but I can only see old data, the data that is captured during the current session can not be seen unless I close the app down and restart it. Yesterday I attempted to add some code to turn one of the cells a different colour diring databinding method. When I added that code and debugged, my gridview stopped showing data.
So I took the entire method OUT...
Now my gridview does not display even when I put a STOP at the page load method, and it shows the gridview AND SQLDATASOURCE as having rows.
