I have an app that calls a DLL, and passes a string to it (by reference). The DLL then fills the string and passes it back to the app. Before calling the DLL, the string must be sized correctly to fit the data the DLL is going to pass it. In the past (using VB.NET 2003) I just initialized the string with the correct number of spaces. This always seemed silly to me and I'm wondering if, in VB.NET 2010, there is a way to do this using a number to define the size?
how you init a variable when it is created by assigning the value on the same line in which it is declared. Is there a way to do this with members of a structure?
detecting the string between 2 characters, EG " is the starting character anything the user types is the string" is the ending character like this:
" <user text> "
I need it done so it changes the syntax. I am using a RTB to change the syntax.Here is my code.word is the list it needs to be added to, NOT rwrd
Private Sub RichTextBox1_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles RichTextBox1.TextChanged Dim words As New List(Of String) Dim rwrd As New List(Of String)
I am running into an issue when retrieving a folder size. 'This does not work when I insert %TMP%, If I insert an actual path like C:Temp, it works fine. objFolder = objFSO.GetFolder("%TMP%") Am I missing an import or something? I currently have no imports.
1, Is it possible to change the size of the message box because currently the header text of my message box is off the screen.
MessageBox.Show( _ "Click OK to continue", "The following job has been cancelled", MessageBoxButtons.OK, _ MessageBoxIcon.Exclamation)
So in this case it only shows "The following job has bee" so is it possible to resize my message box so it shows the full length of the header text?
2, I have been using try catch structures in my coding, but in my message box I can't get to add the header text?
Catch ex1 As Exception MessageBox.Show( _ "Error..." vbCrLf & ex1.ToString)
[Code]...
However the above just displays Error twice within the message box and no header. Also if possible how would I add a messagebox icon with the try catch structure?
I'm still using ye ancient 32-bit machine with ye olde XP.Currently I'm writing some code to add binary content to files, and I need to know, if the same code can be applied on 64-bit systems.For example an integer variable added to a binary file with:
BinaryStream.Write(SomeNumberDeclaredAsInteger)
can be safely loaded with
MyInteger = BinaryStream.ReadInt32
on my system, but is this also the case on 64-bit systems or should I truncate it to Int32 before writing it to file?
Is there a limitation to the size of program that you can create in VB 2010 express? I ask because I am writing a program that asks a user for input, then checks that input to a list of possibilities in case statements.My code is a little over 5000 lines.
I have code a sample program. and protect it with Xenocode,It's weird That I can't get the real filesize of the protected file.the code I use to detect filename and filesize is below:
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim fileDetail As IO.FileInfo fileDetail = My.Computer.FileSystem.GetFileInfo(Assembly.GetEntryAssembly().Location) MsgBox(Assembly.GetEntryAssembly().Location) MsgBox(fileDetail.Length) End Sub
When it startup. It does not show the correct file size "359,833"of this exe instead of a smaller value."20480". Even I define filepath to a real path such as "C:WindowsApplication3.exe" and detect C:WindowsApplication3.exe,'s file size it shows 20480 too. seems something wrong with file.length method. With Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly() also return false value of file length.
On forms size and such, is it in points or pixels? I'd assume pixels, however, it seems when i make a image that is in the same size, (i put the size as the dimensions for pixels), the image seems not the same size. I'm unsure of how big a "point" is, but i am aware of a pixel.
First of all, apologies if I have posted in the wrong forum, I am new to the forum and cannot find any "help" or "support" forums.I have been working on a web browser in VB. I want to make the WebBrowser auto-size whenever the client re-sizes the form (window). I have got it working mainly, exept for 1 problem; I have a status strip, and the web browser overlaps the status strip.
Private Sub Form1_SizeChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.SizeChanged WebBrowser1.Width = Me.Width()
I need to set the paper size on a printer to A4. I have tried several different ways to do this but keep getting errors. Currently trying some code I found on the net but I am getting errorsType 'PaperSize' is not defined&PaperKind' is not declaredI am using the following
Private Sub PrintDocument1_PrintPage(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Drawing.Printing.PrintPageEventArgs) Handles PrintDocument1.PrintPage Dim ps As PaperSize
I wam trying to create a application that will take a screenshot when the timer ticks over.What I need to find out is how do i Make a type of 'crosshair' system for the window that the screenshot will be taken.ike I will have my main VB app and the end-user will drag the crosshair over lets say, Their iTunes libary and the ap will get the height, width of the iTunes and then take a screenshot JUST OF THE ITUNES program, not the whole dekstop.
the title of this topic may sound like a simple property that I need to disable, but I am pretty sure it might be something more difficult than that. I have a borderless form and I want the size to be 280,32. The width of it is fine, but whenever I set the form to visible, it changes the height to 38 instead. I have added event handlers for ClientSizeChanged, and it changes the size to 10, and then to 38. This is only when I set the visible property to true. I have tried setting almost all the properties to their inverse to see any effect and I don't see anything happen.
I have a ftp download in a background session that updates to a progressbar, file download takes about 2 minutes and it works great, gives me the length that has been downloaded, total size, and the bytes remaining.I thought it would be cool to have the speed show as well but not sure I have all the info to work with, or how exactly to do it. This is my loop, and what I do have works fine just want to have the speed show as well if possible:[code]
I'm writing a program that solves sudoku puzzles, but it keeps giving me StackOverflowException. I've tried to make it as efficient as possible, and cleaned up my code, but it still does this once it reaches a certain depth of recursion. how I can increase the stack size so that it can handle this recursion?
My program utilizes various images of different sizes. I want to organize these images so that they all fit into a predetermined space without resizing any of them. They need to be organized in such a way to use as much of the predetermined space as possible. I guess it would be like organizing photos in one of those old photo albums (with the translucent, mildly adhesive, peel-back plastic sheet that held the photos in place) so that you could get as many photos on a page as possible. Or you could think of it sort of like Tetris? Except all the pieces are rectangles.
I assume I would use a recursive function to loop through all the images to find out if they fit or not, then returning the best outcome? I tried searching for code samples but searching for Organizing Images or Organizing Shapes gives less than desirable results.
i am making a Long form and I want it to print in legal size paper. Only thing is I use printform and it does letter size only. Also it cuts off the left over labels i need to print out. I made a Database input form and an output form for printing.
Just trying to make a form which is 15,13 (small I know!).When I set the form size it accepts it but when building it bumps the form size back up to a larger value.The reason this is required is irrelevant, just wondering if there is a minimum size a form can be set to and if there is, is there a work around?
I'm working on a word processor (yes, the thread with the quit forms and the count times open is the same word processor)
It's called iRobosoft Word. The 3rd version is at sourceforge and the 4th is in RC stage.
The 4th version is quite a major upgrade, but back to the topic.For font I used:
Private Sub Rich_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Rich.TextChanged Font1.Text = Rich.SelectionFont.ToString End Sub
I had set a print format to print some word in a Text box, when I input the text in text box is an normal size from system,but I want it print out to printer follow the Rectangle size that is was set to print out on paper.actuary i want it can auto size the font size follow by the length of string.
I want to change the font size of a label during rntime in visual basic 2010 .net I have tried to change the size property of the font but it says its a read only property :
basically my problem is my program i made is fine on my screen, but when i port it to my mates screen some of my listboxes and buttons are not visable. because of his resolution i want to me able make my prgram adaptiable to specific screen resolutions.
