I have multiple combox boxes,
A B C
Combobox B has items Fruit, Veg, Dairy
Combobox C needs to contain 3 list and depending on what value is selected in Combo Box B.
For example,
If I select Veg in Combo Box B, I would like to have a drop down list containing "tomatoes, lettuce, onion,..........."
If I select Dairy in Combo Box B, I would like to have a drop down list containing "Milk, Cheese...................."

One of my clients wants a set up multiple dropdown lists as a set of outbound links (yes, I cringed too, but he does have his reasons. there are 3 dropdowns, each one pertaining to its own group of links. When each dropdown has its SelectedIndexChanged, it then redirects based on the choice made. However, lets say I make a choice in the second dropdown. It goes to the proper link. If I then choose a link in the first dropdown, it goes to the proper link. Then if I select a link in the third dropdown, it will go to the link specified in the choice I made in the FIRST dropdown.
How can I code it so that it will always select the most recent selection?

I have 16 comboboxes with a naming convention of:
c1d2
c2d2
c3d2
c4d2
c16d2
These will all contain the same items and I need to add them at runtime. I know how to loop through the controls, but not sure how to make sure I'm only editing the correct comboboxes. (I will have to do this for 2 more sets of comboboxes with similar naming conventions as well)

I am working on a project for software engineering where we are trying to create a warehouse inventory system. I have created an inventory page where I can add/delete/search for an item as well as access invoices and reorder items... i am struggling on the delete item part. I have my design set up where there are four different lists on my page. One for name, one for serial number, one for RFID number and one for amount in stock. I want to be able to select an item by name and its information in serial number, rfid, and amount also select and have no idea how to go about this..I wanted to use four different lists because I need to be able to delete an item from the list and it remove just one from that stock and not the entire item unless there is only one of that item left in stock.
for my inventory page
Public Class InventoryDepartment
Private Sub InventoryDepartment_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load

I have a list of a few 1000 names, which I need to load in several comboboxes. Now I can add them manually in the editor, but then the code would be huge, which is unneeded in my hones opinion. Sure I can add then in a database and load them, but that takes more time then loading a file from the hard-drive.

I'm working on a program in which I have 2 comboboxes and have to be able to add new Items in both of them, now that all no problems at all but as soon as I close the program I loose all my Items. Is it possible to add a code which checks if an Item already exists and if so give a error message and don't add the new Item to the combobox?

I'm making a program that uses recursion to transform the nodes in a treeview to the items in a contextmenustrip. The nodes will have tags within them that when I add a handler to the menuitem, it will run through a script from the tag to tell the program what to do, the only problem is that I don't need a tag or an even handler for any of the menuitems that have dropdown items. How could I do this?

I have a label with a tooltip attribute for rollover effect. This works all great. However, it seems to get hidden behind any dropdown lists that are nearby. I have tried adjusting the z-index, without any luck. This issue does not appear in firefox, and I have not tested it in later versions of IE.
I realize this is probably due to IE6s poor css standards-compatibility, but how can I get around this?

what is the best way to load dropdown lists from reference/lookup tables for a desktop application? the application is layed out into 3 tiers. I've built up my entities.the front end has a form with 6 tabs. and one big save (another discussion :)Should I load them all when the form is initially loaded? Are there any caching mechanisms I could use?
it is vb.net app on a network drive that is accessed by several users.it's also worth noting that some reference tables may be updated. Via another form.

I have the following linq statement to go through a dropdown menu's sub items and get what items are checked: vb Dim UnselectedItems = From xItem As ToolStripMenuItem In tsiSelectObjects.DropDownItems Where TypeOf xItem Is ToolStripMenuItem AndAlso CType(xItem, ToolStripMenuItem).Checked = False
I get this error tho: Unable to cast object of type 'System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripSeparator' to type 'System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripMenuItem'. As you can probably guess i have ToolStripMenuItems and separators in there
However the AndAlso should short circuit in the case where the item is not a ToolStripMenuItem and it doesn't seem to be doing so (as TypeOf xItem Is ToolStripMenuItem=false in this case)?

I have this code that adds items in 2 comboboxes: The first code works fine as it adds the dates into the comboxes
Dim myConnection As OleDbConnection = New OleDbConnection
Dim myCommand As OleDbCommand = New OleDbCommand
Dim myDataReader As OleDbDataReader
myConnection.ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=|DataDirectory|Network_Info.mdb"

But when I try to add items by month I always get this error in these lines:
ComboBox2.Items.Add(myDataReader("DateRecorded"))
ComboBox3.Items.Add(myDataReader("DateRecorded"))
It says: IndexOutOfRangeException was unhandled

I want to create a website where it is possible to add dynamically "X" dropdown-lists (or other elements)These dropdown-lists should be shown on the website and furthermore there should be an other element be shown, that depends on the dropdown-list (for example: if the user chooses option "A" there is a checkbox, if the user chooses "B" there is a input field)

I'm program that uses quite a few different comboboxes. Essentially drop down boxes to prevent invalid user input. Anyways, the problem I've run into is when I'm loading files that will populate those combo boxes. Essentially, certain selection in the combo boxes invalidate selections in other boxes. What I'm doing is taking a text file, and reading it line by line. Each line is based off the combo box selections previously made and saved using the same application. Returning to the same screen, I want to populate the combo boxes with the data previously selected.
I'm initially populating the combo boxes in program with
<combo box>.Items.Add()
Other than searching item by item for the proper text, getting the index of of that text, and then setting that as the selected item?
So what I'm thinking of doing is this...
Dim Fin As System.IO.StreamReader
Fin = System.IO.OpenText(FileName)
Dim sInput As String
Dim iIndex As Integer
[Code] .....

I have two objects that are derived from same the base class. ets say ObjA is the base class, and ClassB and ClassC inherits ObjA. f I have a dim lst1 as List(Of ClassB) im list2 as List(Of ClassA)nd and I want to check for the existence of something being in lst1 that it is in list2, now I am only interested in comparing against one key bit of information that it is declared in the base class and is a string. How can I iterate through the lst1 comparing against list2? I thought I could I overload/override the Equals method but I am having no joy for either of the classes and say some thing similar to
Public Overloads Overrides Function Equals(ByVal obj As Object) As Boolean
Dim temp As ClassA = TryCast(obj, ClassA)
If temp.Id = Me.Id Then

This question is very similar to a previous question of mine, Use LINQ to count the number of combinations existing in two lists, except with some further twists.
I have a list of CartItems that can receive a discount based on the items specified in the list of DiscountItems. I need to be able to pull out the items in the Cart that can receive a discount and apply the appropriate discount specfied in the DiscountItem. The discount is only applied for each combination that exists. Here's what the two lists might look like to before the discount is applied[code]...

If ListBox1.SelectedIndex <> -1 Then
Dim Box As MsgBoxResult = MsgBox("Are you sure you want to remove this time?", MsgBoxStyle.YesNo)
[Code]....
It worked perfectly, all ive done to my code since is change the way the listboc is loaded / saved, it now comes from a .txt in My Documents rather than the C drive.
It now only deleted the top value of the group selected int he listbox and not all of them as it did before.

I have the following problem, a table "table1" contains 10000 telephone numbers, this table is source for 5 combo box contained in a form, I need that when I select the first tel N in the first combo, this number is not any more available for the combo 2, when I select the second number in the second combo, the first 2 numbers of the table 1 are not any more available for the combo 3 etc. Every record (in form) contains 5 combo. The Tel N selected into the combo are source for other table called "table2". I've try with all the type of query between table 1 and table 2, and use the result as source for the combo, I've try with IIf but this is works only for the first combo.

I have two combo boxesthat use the same collection for their datasource. The data member and value member are also the same properties. When the form loads, and I select an item in one of the combo boxes, the same item is then selected in the other combo box. I want the combo boxes to work separately. Do I need to have two different collections, even though they would have the same data in them?
cboInboardKnife.DataSource = cKnives
cboInboardKnife.DisplayMember =
"Name"
cboInboardKnife.ValueMember =
"ToolID"
cboOutboardKnife.DataSource = cKnives
cboOutboardKnife.DisplayMember =
"Name"
cboOutboardKnife.ValueMember =
"ToolID"

I want to maintain a list of potential ComboBox values over multiple executions of my program, and to use that list as the DataSource on multiple ComboBoxes. I also want changes made to the DataSource to propagate over all of the ComboBoxes already existing in the application.
Can someone recommend what type of object I should use as my DataSource, as My.Settings objects don't seem to support generic list objects.
Also, along with that recommendation, can I also ask for suggestions as to how to propagate the updates of the collection to all ComboBoxes? I would imagine I need a collection type which raises events when its contents change, but I can't think of any, and in any case do not know which are compatible with My.Settings.

I have a program issue I am trying to work on. I have multiple comboboxes(12 total) on a form.I am attempting to update some settings from what ever the user selects from the combo boxes. I am trying to keep the code as small as possible, so I thought about having all the comboboxes have similar names only different by a number being changed at the end. (ex: cbo_1, cbo_2, cbo_3, etc...)And using a For next loop to advance through each combobox and update the settings as the for next loop advances.(This might be a stupid way of doing it, but its the first idea that came to mind.)

I'm working on a To Do List program of sorts. I currently have a CheckedListBox on the form with an Add Button and a Delete Button. I send the items to an array and then use that array to fill in my CheckedListbox. This all works.
I wrote the following code to delete items:
Dim summarylistboxindex As Integer
summarylistboxindex = SummaryListBox.SelectedIndex
MonkeysTasks(summarylistboxindex) = String.Empty
[Code]....
I use a variable called INTCOUNTER to keep track of my position in the array.
My question:
How can I use the second piece of code that deletes multiple items at once from my CheckedListBox AND delete the corresponding entry in the array?
ie if my checkedlistbox items were Apple Orange and Banana
I want to delete Apple and Banana at the same time and then remove them from Fruits(0) and Fruits(2) at the same time they are deleted from the CheckedListBox.
