i need to store file paths in mysql database but when i try in puting the path in and up with a path without "" . i did read that i need to put two slashes if i want to add this in mysql. i want somthing like "C:windowssystem" but end up with "C:windowssytem" when i try to add it to mysql.

OK, I've been searching for hours trying to find the best way to fill a listview from a comma delimited file but have come up empty handed so far. Currently I am using code I found on the NET, which works, but it is EXTREMELY slow. As a test, I created a file with 5,000 rows, and 10 columns. The code I am currently using appears to be loading the file and somewhat simultaneously filling the listview at the same time. I feel that I should load the entire file into an array or arraylist and the send the array or arraylist to the listview. However, if this is the best way to do it, I have not been able to find any examples of how to do this.
I have an array of approximately 1000 classes. All of these classes must have one of their properties changed to the same value. I need this to be as optimized and fast as possible.
Would LINQ be faster than a for-loop? Any other ideas for faster execution?
What i have going on, is i have a MySQL connector as a resource on my application, and im basically trying to connect to my MySQL server, to either a) register a new account, or b) check that the account exists and they are premium, and login, Now what i have run into problems with is: My MySQL Database Name has a _ in it which VB is not allowing for some strange reason.

The UI cannot process the ProgressChanged event fast enough before the values in the class that are passed are changed. I know this because I inserted a System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(100) line after each ReportProgress() call which allows time for the UI to make the updates properly. It has worked fine for a while, but I found out that last week one of the computers didn't close the connection with the database, which resulted in (a bunch of) errors on the other computers.
I have a mySQL server (external) where I can add the data into, but I think that it would slow down the loading severely, but it's very important that people can import the data at the same time.

I am using the System.Data.SqlClient Namespace, and I have tried about every connection string possible, and I either get a long delay (About 30 seconds) before the main form displays with a warning in the Console box or it just gives me the warning and loads fast. I've written an application and I'm trying to utilise a database behind it. I've created a mysql database, and table which all appears to work correctly. I appear to have connected to the db correctly too. And hit a bit of a brick wall. As a side-note, within Visual studio connected to the database using the add data source wizard, I then dragged and dropped my db table's column onto my form that intends to display them all (6 textboxes, including primary key) and that now displays the first record of the table. It confused me, because i did this as soon as I had setup the database with no visual basic code assisting, so there wasn't even a connection string?!
One functionality i want to have is to press a button and cycle through the table's records using the form by the unique id, how would I do this? I'm essentially asking how can I enter a number in a textbox which would then return me the relevant primary key and data attached to that record.
I'm pretty new to Visual Basic, do mostly web programming in PHP/MySQL. Need to pull data from a MySQL Database using Visual Basic Program I'm making. Need to when I click a radio button, it shows in text box only the results from a table with a certain trait(as set in the database) etc. For example if an item is set to a certain category. And i click the radio button for that category it shows me only items in that category. I've attached an image of sort of what I've got. I've already downloaded the ADO connector from mysql site. I'm using the latest version of the MYSQL DotNet Connector (currently 6.3.7) and I am unable to connect to my database at all with it. It keeps giving me an error. I can connect the the database using SQLyog with the exact same information but not with this.

View 10 RepliesI want to add a new Data Source (so I can use it with Crystal Reports) but using mysql, I did this before.
In the left side under: 'Data Sources' and then choosed 'Add New DataSource'Then I choose: Database > Dataset I clicked in 'New Connection' and I changed the first box (with 'change' button (as you can see in the image attached)) to what is showed in the image (MySQL Database..)The problem is, as I type the first letter of any of the textbox's that are below (server, user, or pwd) it closes that form showing the previous form (where I clicked 'New Connection')
