VS 2010 Prog Appends A Textfile - User Able To Delete Or Modify While Form Open?
May 17, 2012
Prog appends a textfile. Don't want user able to delete or modify while form open. How do I do this?? - As long as form is open user cannot modify or delete textfile. But so the file can be edited from within form
How do I do this. Here is my code so far
Public Class Form1 Dim FILE_NAME As String = "C:UsersBirthdayDocumentsinfo.txt" Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
I am trying use barcode for input but prevent user to modify the barcode they scan, user are not allow to input the barcode number by keyboard. i am using vs 2010 vb.net
What I am trying to do may be better for use with SQL Server but I have seen many applications in the past that simply work on text files and I am wanting to try to imitate the same behaviour that those applications follow. I have a list of URL's in a text file. This is simple enough to open and read line by line, but how can I store additional data from the file and query the data?
E.g. Text File: link1 - 0 link2 - 0 link3 - 1 link4 - 0 link5 - 1
Then I will read the data with: Private Sub ButtonX2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ButtonX2.Click OpenFileDialog1.Filter = "*txt Text Files|*.txt" If OpenFileDialog1.ShowDialog() = DialogResult.OK Then Dim AllText As String = My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText(OpenFileDialog1.FileName) Dim Lines() = Split(AllText, vbCrLf) [Code] ..... Am I going completely the wrong way about storing the data after importing from a text file?
I have some code that fills my datagridview (VulDgv) I also have some code that exports the datatable to an excelfile (DatatableToExcel). All works pretty good. However...when I export to an existing file I get 2 warnings, first is the "file exists overwrite" warning from the savefiledialog. The second message is the "excelfile exists" from excel itselve. (is it possible to hide this message?) My real problem is after the 2 messages the code APPENDS the data to the excel file instead of overwriting it.
I'm sending a message on FormClosing(...)... This works ok. However... I have multiple tabs with a textbox or rtb, in it. When I change the text, whatever, it is modified. Now, when I close the app a messagebox appears that some of the textboxes or rtb's have been modified. This message is shown for each textbox-rtb-control. Which means, that when I have changed something in 4 different rtb's or textboxes I get the message 4 times. How do I change that to only one time?
I'm making a function that is supposed to delete a line from a textfile "test.txt". I'm having no problems with finding what line i want to delete. The basic idea is this: read the whole file with streamreaderdelete the linerewrite the file with streamwriter. My problem is the last, how can i completely remove the file content, and write another string in it, writer.writeline just appends a line.
I have a program that reads a text file tab delimted using OLEDb I need to be able to allow the user to insert a user created record into the file which I can do. The problem is I need to be able to let the user edit that record. From my understanding you can not edit or delete with OLEDB only insert So I thought I would read the file using stream reader, find the line I want to edit and just delete it, rewrite the file, then let the user insert a new record?
Dim strDelimiter As String = vbTab OpenFileDialog1.InitialDirectory = "C:\" OpenFileDialog1.Filter = "Text Files (*.txt)|*.txt"
I thought I postet this yesterday but I can't find my thread so if this is a duplicate please point me at the original one. Background: I need to create a user account and Modify it's registry before the user logs on the first time. Creating the account is done by using the Winnt provider (works great). To create the profile I'm trying to use Process.start to launch a process as the newly created user. With the use of loaduserprofile property the users profile gets created and i can do my regwrites without problem.
This works fine, unless I have Windows Explorer open and I'm looking at the 'MySubFolder' directory. Then I get an IOException The directory is not empty. - clicking OK dismisses this and then the folder structure is not deleted. Any thoughts on how I can get this to perform correctly (i.e. delete), even when running this code while having the folder struture open in Windows Explorer?
I'm trying to make an installer package to install one of my vb.net programs... and I want a "printable version" of the EULA (end user licence agreement) to pop up on the screen as a read only text file within notpad.exe.
I am working on a project using Visual Studio .NET 2003.I am trying to open a second form based on user response to Yes/No Message Box. I have tried two different code variations. The first variation is:
Dim MsgAnswer As Boolean MsgAnswer = True Dim MsgRes As DialogResult Dim CustomerInfo1 As New Form
[code]....
With this code I get an exception error: An unhandled exception of type 'System.NullReferenceException' occurred in OrpheyOnOpen.exe Additional information: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
I have a textfile I need to open and I need to put each line into the array. What is the simplest way to add the elements/each line's data into the array while increasing the array as it reads each line? This is blowing my mind right now..I thought about using a counter and then redim-ing the array (while preserving of course).
I have a vb.net form to add, modify or delete the product list..i have a datagridview in which i m loading data from sql server datatable...now i have a text box which accepts code for the product..i want that when i press a key, all data starting with that key should be highlighted in datagridview.....

visual studio 2010 using vb.net for my windows form.I am trying to get some direction on how to integrate paypal into my windows form application. Currently, I have an expiration date on the software that loads a registration form when the software expires. I would like to add a button that can do the following:
1) open paypal to allow the user to make a payment for the software
2) send the information back to my form (successful payment or unsuccessful payment)
Ok i am making a game (based on windows95)....i have it going good so far.I have it so you can open notepad (this is in a panel and its not the real system notepad)You can click save document and it saves the text it in a hidden textbox with a random filename (defined by user) and it saves it in a listveiw (windows explorer type thing). The idea is i want it to be so that if you double click the listveiw item it will open the textfile (text stored in a hidden textbox) Heres my code which is attempting to do this but i just can't think how to link them.
Private Sub btnsaveassave_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnsaveassave.Click Dim savedfile As New TextBox mycomputerfiles.Items.Add(txtfilename.Text & ".txt")[code].....
I have a combobox (combobox1) with a list of countries, Canada, USA, UK as an example. For each country I have a textfile of cities. I choose a country, which populates combobox2 .i.e. I select Canada from combobox1. Combobox2 shows cities for Canada. I also have a button 'Edit Cities' What I want to accomplish is the following:Open some type of text editor (like notepad) and allow the user to either delete or add items to the list of cities then re-save the file back to the resources folder of my program. I have been successful in reading the textfile to a messagebox but of course can't do anything with it.
Here is a code snipet I have so far:
Private Sub btnEdit_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnEdit.Click If combobox1.SelectedIndex = 0 Then Dim fileReader As String
I've got a VB.Net form application that dynamically loads user controls based on which navigation link the user clicks on. I'd like to make it easier to use at Design time by putting a link of some sort to open the User Control at design time. The link would go onto the form in the space where the User Control will be going. This just saves a little time from having to browse through the files to open the correct file.
If there are fields in a combo box as i press the drop down arrow. and if i select a field... then it should not b deleted using a backspace or anyother key..
This is the strangest thing, I can not figure out why this is happening. When I delete a radio button from my form which is used to filter data in a database Form_Load stops working. My project consists of a database and a web browser. The database has a search filter options.[code]For some reason it didnt load my settings on start up. I made a button which displayed True/False in a text box to check if it was saved in my settings, it was, it just didnt want to load. So I deleted it and everything broke! Nothing in the code is referenced to the RadioButton or its code.
Have I done something wrong or is VB just messing with me? There is obviously a bunch of more code, I just posted what I think is relevant to the issue. If you feel something is missing, tell me and Ill post it. ied to change the RadioButton with a CheckBox, and I changed the code from "Me.ExampleTableAdapter.FilterHide..." to "Me.Example TableAdapter. Fill...", which is the same as in Form_Load. It works if it starts checked. If I remove this code or delete the CheckBox nothing works even though the same code is in Form_Load. If I start off with the CheckBox in an Unchecked state nothing loads, if I check it everything except the Browser works for some reason.
When i run my website in Visual Studio 2008 the address bar of explorer generates the following address
[URL]
The bold and underlined portion i-e (S(2vq3th45ep5kle5542jo4i45)) is generated from today and automatically. What is this showing? Is it a virus in my computer and will it destroy my application? It is making me tense as i am ne to ASP.NET and not in position to re-develop what i have mde up till now.
I have created an application that has a webbrowser, two radioButtons, button1, and a menustrip. The menustrip has two main heading and under each heading are about 15 Tool Strip MenuItem. The ToolStripMenuItem properties are set to CheckonClick and an example of forum1. vb code for this section of the application is:[code]What I need is for the user to be able to add his/her own ToolStripMenueItems to those already present, along with the base url.So that clicking Button1 sends them to the base url And also have the Radio Buttons automatically add the extensions to the base url when the RadioButton is clicked. They need to be able to do this from the application itself. But I'm not sure how to code this in.They will not have VB to make modifications.
i am working on an application called logonscreenchangerxp i made my program and when i run it on xp virtualmachine i get errors the program is made using vb 2008 and using .net framework 2.0 i am not able to get full permissions to modify boot.ini file and a regisrty value and to delete a file
