"This is a test . This is the second test . This is the third test . This is the final test"I know how to do this using SelectionStart etc. However this limits what I want to domagine that the 4 sentences are stored in an array, where array(0) should be always bold,array(1) italic, array(2) underline and array(3) normal.
I have a System.Windows.Forms.RichTextBox that I wish to use to display some instructions to my application users. Is it possible to set some of the text I enter at designtime to be bold?Or do I have no option but to do it at runtime?
I have created a Richtextbox, which produces text based on user-inputted variables as well as some basic formatting - eg: name = txtname.text richtextbox1.text = "Hello my name is " & name & "." What i want to do is set the text in the name variable in Italics when it is displayed, like this.
How do you code selection of text within a RichTextBox. I tried the following code and nothing happens.I would think this should select all text within the RichTextBox.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Me.RichTextBox1.SelectAll() End Sub
I would think this would select text from a start point to an end point.
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click ss = Convert.ToInt16(TextBox1.Text) se = Convert.ToInt16(TextBox1.Text) Me.RichTextBox1.Select(ss, se) End Sub
I'm having trouble adjusting the font style in a RichTextBox and I've seen a few different approaches that talk about single attributes (like toggling bold on and off)... but I'm trying to make it so that my font class can adjust any attribute (bold, italic, underline).
I realize that Font.Style is a set of Boolean flags (a bitfield?)... but I'm not sure how to handle the attributes all at once.
Here is the troublesome code:
Public Sub ModifyFontStyle(Optional ByVal Plain As Object = Nothing, Optional ByVal Bold As Object = Nothing, _ Optional ByVal Italics As Object = Nothing, Optional ByVal Underlined As Object = Nothing)
[Code]....
What is happening to the font? The text should be underlined and in italics not strikethrough...
Is this a logic error or a simple misunderstanding on my part?
this code does the change, but I noticed a little unwanted effect.if you have some text mark up for esample 24pt, selected. and run this code. you will lose the mark up.
Private Sub Styles_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles BtnBold.Click, BtnItalic.Click, BtnUnderline.Click, BtnStrikeOut.Click
Static styleValue As Integer = 0 Const bold As Integer = 1, Italic As Integer = 2, UnderLine As Integer = 4, StrikeOut As Integer = 8 'Since more than 1 button is attached to this event, the if statement will sort out what button was pressed to fire this event If TypeOf (sender) Is Button Then
I have the [B] [I] [U] buttons and they work to a point but here is the problem I'm having. In MS Word,I can Hilight text and select Bold and it bolds the text, I can then select Italic and while leaving it bold, it Italicizes it.I can then click the bold button again and it will remove the bold but leave the selected text Italicized. I can't figure out how to get this action to work.I know I can OR the styles to apply multiple styles to the text but I don't know how to remove a style while maintaining any others applied. Here's a section of code that I'm messing with.[code]....btw, I am using for the comments so that the code is easier to read.I have tried (in this specific segment) newFontStyle = currentFont.Style And Not FontStyle.Bold
With the intention of creating a program to interface with a serial port device, I recently started learning vb.net. To keep the structure neat the vb code has been split into two places; the first is the code behind for initialising, clicking buttons etc., whilst the second is for managing the comm port. Respectively, these are named 'MainWindow.xaml.vb' and 'ComPortManager.vb'.
In 'comPortManager.vb': Dim RXArray(2047) As Char ' Array to hold received characters Dim RXCnt As Integer ' Received character count
I have a TrueType font in my PC. And there are some unicode characters in it which I want to insert it into my RichtTextBox. The CharMap in WindowsXP shows the unicode character as U+00CC and to the right, it also displays the KeyStroke as Alt+0204So, how do I insert this unicode character in RichTextBox ? Also, if I'm going to distribute this small program along with this particular font, will this end system can easily display the unicode characters ? Or do I have to set any regional settings in that PC to
I've got a richtextbox control on a form and a menustripitem that allows me to change the font style. What I want to be able to do is to allow the user to type text into the richtextbox control; then if they change the font style using the menu only for newly entered text to change font, and any previously typed text to stay in the previously selected font. The problem I'm getting is that all of the entered text's font style is changed.
I'm trying to have a feature in my application where every time the user presses the "-" key the word directly before it becomes bold. This much I've been able to figure out:
I've decided to come back to working on an old program of mine, and it's been coming along nicely, but there's this one thing that I can't get working.I have formatting options (Bold, Underline, Italics, Strikethrough) available on my program, and they all work properly. I'm giving users the ability to export all of their text from a single page on the program to a .rtf file. However, the problem I'm experiencing is that each page has numerous RichTextBoxes on it, so I cannot simply use a RichTextBox1.SaveFile() command or something similar. I want to compile all of the text (including formatting) from all of the RichTextBoxes and put it on a single .rtf file. Currently, I'm getting the text from the RichTextBoxes using the RichTextBox1.Text command; unfortunately, that only gives me plain text without formatting. So, what I'm wondering is: how can I get the formatted text from a RichTextBox? Is there any command?
I am creating an application and am very new to VB. I have 4 buttons on my form which is like my applications main menu. I would like that each of the buttons behaves in the following way when there is a mouse rollover: The Button back color is changed from the default to Red The Button text is changed to Blue, Bold, and increases in font size I would also like all the buttons to go back to their initial state when the mouse leaves.
Another thing, instead of me writing code for each of the buttons event handlers (Mouse Hovers, and Mouse Leaves) is there a way I can write this code once, maybe as a function and then always call it for any button that I create from here on so that any new buttons take on this behaviour.
I have no problem loading the contents of a text file into a richtextbox(rtb) with the below code. I can then edit and save the contents of the rtb to the file, and clear the rtb.
However, is the file still open? Does loading a text file into the rtb actually open that file? I am asking because I can't find any methods or techniques to close a file that has been loaded into a rtb. Is clearing the rtb the correct procedure?
Public Class Form1 Dim openFile1 As New OpenFileDialog() Private Sub OpenToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles OpenToolStripMenuItem.Click

I had a weird series of errors involving e.Graphics.DrawString() when painting a panel.I am using a barcode font [Code 128] with a library that converts text to the proper format for Barcode readers. That's fine, however, when I draw it to the panel, that's where things stop being fine:But, here's where things get funky. When I put it into a TextBox instead of drawing it via Graphics.DrawString(), everything is peachy:In fact, the TextBox one looks much better than the Graphics.DrawString() one! Am I doing something wrong?[code]
I am creating a text editor like notepad. Well its an advance type because it is a tabbed notepad type. It saves html files.
I only created tabcontrol on the design time named TabControl1. the tabpages and the richtextbox are created on the form load and when adding tabs. [code]...
How do i change the font style using code ? I want to display text in a textbox (Like google has in there search box) in italic style but i want normal text when the user types in the textbox.[code]...
I have a script file which uses code similar to the C# language, using { and } braces to start and close 'blocks' of code. Note that blocks can be nested.[code]...
Is it possible to use regular expressions to parse the code and return the name of each block separately? So in the above example, it should return block1, block2 and block3 but NOT "block 2 contains" or "and another" (no nested blocks).

Please can someone point me in the right direction? I would like to build my own code designer window similar to that of the one within the VB2010 IDE.I am not sure how to tackle this, at first I was thinking of using RichTextBox as this can accommodate the fonts and colors.
An example of what I am trying to achieve.Should be able to outline, expand and colapse based on my own tags. e.g. in the VB.Net IDE a function and end function are tags that would produce an outline Should be able to change color of text based on characters. e.g. ' would turn green in the VB.Net ide as it is a comment Should be able to indent based on specific tags. e.g. With - End with would auto indent within the VB.Net ide
I should be able to cover the text color and indents using RichTextBox, but I am struggling with the outline expand and colapse. The purpose of the project is to build a simple interface for creating config files that use only specific tags
