RichTextBox - Remove A Style While Maintaining Any Others Applied?
Mar 6, 2010
I have the [B] [I] [U] buttons and they work to a point but here is the problem I'm having. In MS Word,I can Hilight text and select Bold and it bolds the text, I can then select Italic and while leaving it bold, it Italicizes it.I can then click the bold button again and it will remove the bold but leave the selected text Italicized. I can't figure out how to get this action to work.I know I can OR the styles to apply multiple styles to the text but I don't know how to remove a style while maintaining any others applied. Here's a section of code that I'm messing with.[code]....btw, I am using for the comments so that the code is easier to read.I have tried (in this specific segment) newFontStyle = currentFont.Style And Not FontStyle.Bold
I'm having trouble adjusting the font style in a RichTextBox and I've seen a few different approaches that talk about single attributes (like toggling bold on and off)... but I'm trying to make it so that my font class can adjust any attribute (bold, italic, underline).
I realize that Font.Style is a set of Boolean flags (a bitfield?)... but I'm not sure how to handle the attributes all at once.
Here is the troublesome code:
Public Sub ModifyFontStyle(Optional ByVal Plain As Object = Nothing, Optional ByVal Bold As Object = Nothing, _ Optional ByVal Italics As Object = Nothing, Optional ByVal Underlined As Object = Nothing)
[Code]....
What is happening to the font? The text should be underlined and in italics not strikethrough...
Is this a logic error or a simple misunderstanding on my part?
"This is a test . This is the second test . This is the third test . This is the final test"I know how to do this using SelectionStart etc. However this limits what I want to domagine that the 4 sentences are stored in an array, where array(0) should be always bold,array(1) italic, array(2) underline and array(3) normal.
this code does the change, but I noticed a little unwanted effect.if you have some text mark up for esample 24pt, selected. and run this code. you will lose the mark up.
Private Sub Styles_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles BtnBold.Click, BtnItalic.Click, BtnUnderline.Click, BtnStrikeOut.Click
Static styleValue As Integer = 0 Const bold As Integer = 1, Italic As Integer = 2, UnderLine As Integer = 4, StrikeOut As Integer = 8 'Since more than 1 button is attached to this event, the if statement will sort out what button was pressed to fire this event If TypeOf (sender) Is Button Then
I have a System.Windows.Forms.RichTextBox that I wish to use to display some instructions to my application users. Is it possible to set some of the text I enter at designtime to be bold?Or do I have no option but to do it at runtime?
I have created a Richtextbox, which produces text based on user-inputted variables as well as some basic formatting - eg: name = txtname.text richtextbox1.text = "Hello my name is " & name & "." What i want to do is set the text in the name variable in Italics when it is displayed, like this.
I've got a richtextbox control on a form and a menustripitem that allows me to change the font style. What I want to be able to do is to allow the user to type text into the richtextbox control; then if they change the font style using the menu only for newly entered text to change font, and any previously typed text to stay in the previously selected font. The problem I'm getting is that all of the entered text's font style is changed.
i'm having a few small problems concerning my MDI child forms.
1). I have a panel that is docked to the parent form so i can change the background colour of the parent form. (the background property doesn't seem to work on MDI parents). But my childforms appear underneath this panel, is there a way to make them appear on top of the panel? (i've tried using .topmost = true).
2). Is there a way to remove the 3d border style of a MDI parent form?
I am currently stuck on trying to collect some string items from a richtextbox and then count how many items there are. I then want to relocate one of the string items if there are more than three into another richtextbox.I currently have been attempting to capture the string items into an array but I have had no luck. The items in the richtextbox are
Laura Philips Jaime Jarvis Rachel Dawkins
So in this case I would want to remove the last entry "Rachel Dawkins" and place it into another richtextbox.
I have a program that uses a richTextBox to append and save file locations. Each line in RichTextBox1.Lines is added to a listbox for the user to see the files. The format of the richtextbox output is shown below:
I have a button on the form which can remove an individual file from the ListBox with the code shown below. The problem I am having though is that the RichTextBox text is ending up formating like shown below. If I remove the C:UsersJordanDownloadsfile.ext for example, the RichTextBox text will show as:
After I add tons of text lines on RichTextBox, I need to select any line(s) by just clicking this line. After that this line is highlighted. Then I click one button to remove this line. How to do that? (the starting character for each line is the same)
I want to know how remove all blank space in my Richtextbox for exemple:
(remove) hi (remove) there
I found how removes extra blank line and here is the code : Me.RichTextBox4.Lines = Me.RichTextBox4.Text.Split(New Char() {ControlChars.Lf}, _ StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries)
I keep on getting errors for every line in the code below that tell me that the attributes cannot be applied multiple times. What does this mean and how can I fix it without changing what the code does?
I have a vb .net program on visual studio 2005. I modified my code for a bug fix. When I am rebuilding and running the application, it shows me the old version of my program, ie, the new changes are not taken effect. To test more, I changed a Label box text and tried to rebuild the program. The program shown me the screen with the old label text. The change was not affected. I tryed to save the application, close, reopen , unfortunately the same effect. Then I copied the project folder to my other laptop to see if visual studio had anything wrong. But then there also I am facing the same problem.
I am puzzled by the presence of error 232: "Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference" when I use the snippet below in a larger program after testing it successfully as a stand-alone subroutine. The offending line is:
how i can change the native scrollbar style in my application to my custom style. I can adopt a custom scrollbar to attain this purpose but this will not serve my purpose because i want this attribute in entire application. Like it the text in textbox gets longer than its bounds than the scrollbar appers are my custom bar not the formal ones
I set the cell style progromatically on a condition.. but when that condition is no longer met I want to go back to the grids.cell original (default) style property
if x=y then row.Cells(column.Name.ToString).Style.ApplyStyle(mystyle) else
I am currently writing a website for a company to display their products to their customers. One of the things I am putting into it is the ability to add news items onto the homepage, only part of the admin side of the site.
I have managed to extract some news items from the database, and display them dynamically in a Web User Control which I have added to Default.aspx. I have managed to add buttons for "Update" with events. The problem is that, on clicking one of these update buttons, the page reloads with the theme applied (as it should), but the css files from the theme do not apply - the body text is bigger than it should be and changes back to the default font. I know the skin files apply as I have tried setting all button backgrounds to black by default. The css files seem to apply to any text which is generated from clicking an update button (I have it so it writes the title of the news item for the button that was clicked. This text is the size and font it should be). I have spent HOURS trying to work out why this is happening, with loads of Googling but no success. It is almost as if the theme is being applied between the PageLoad event and the ButtonClick event, but the skin files would say otherwise. Does anyone know why this is?
I have treeview in which for some of the treenodes I have to set the font selected by user. The font gets applied correctly, but the text is not displayed properly. Need to set the height of treenode. I'm using vb.net and VS 2008. I have already checked the Bounds property, but it is not set correctly so I cannot set the ItemHeight property of the node.
Private Sub PatientFields() txtFirstName.Text = pa.Tables(0).Rows(intcurrentindex).Item("Forename").ToString() txtLastName.Text = pa.Tables(0).Rows(intcurrentindex).Item("Surname").ToString()

Once the search is executed I want to be able to click "refresh" and the original table is then shown in the datagridview. If I try adding after the search sub is completed:
Next, I put an instance of MyButton into a property grid, expand property MC and edit SubProp2.From the type editor for SubProp2, I want to get hold of the attribute applied to property MC.Looking at the context,PropertyDescriptor.ComponentType, we arrive at Type: MyClass. If i look at the attributes applied to MyClass, though, it will only return the attributes applied directly to MyClass, and not the extra attribute applied to the property MC.
have a query in SQL, returns the results I expect, however when I copied this query to a bindingsource.filter call,I get "Missing Operand" errors
Me.ItemsBindingSource.Filter = String.Format("SELECT * FROM items WHERE (GETDATE()) BETWEEN (items.ItemStartDate) AND DATEADD([month], items.ItemOccurances, items.ItemStartDate)")
I need to build a program that combines many different .doc files based on which check boxes the user selects. At first I was going to use the word.document.open(file) way, but I would rather not have to open 40 different files every time the program runs. I then turned to streamreader, which works great for basic text (after I convert the file to .txt) but I can't figure out a way to maintain hyperlinks. I am now thinking that after the streamreader reads all of the data and combines it into one string, it will paste it into a word doc and somehow search for hyperlinks and make them active.
My program references a specific object that is contained in a list. The references point directly to the object itself, instead of its position (index) in the list, since that might change over time as other objects are added/removed. However, occasionally this object is edited, and (behind the scenes) this sometimes involves replacing it with a newly-created object (so the code looks like ListA.item(i)=new testobject...). In which case, if my understanding is correct, all the program references to this object are no longer correct, since they point to the replaced object instead of the new one. So I'm wondering how to maintain the integrity of the references, since the list index is not permanent, nor is the object reference technically permanent. Should I create some ID number for the object, and maintain and use it for references (so the new object would get the old one's ID)?
