"This is a test . This is the second test . This is the third test . This is the final test"I know how to do this using SelectionStart etc. However this limits what I want to domagine that the 4 sentences are stored in an array, where array(0) should be always bold,array(1) italic, array(2) underline and array(3) normal.
this code does the change, but I noticed a little unwanted effect.if you have some text mark up for esample 24pt, selected. and run this code. you will lose the mark up.
Private Sub Styles_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles BtnBold.Click, BtnItalic.Click, BtnUnderline.Click, BtnStrikeOut.Click
Static styleValue As Integer = 0 Const bold As Integer = 1, Italic As Integer = 2, UnderLine As Integer = 4, StrikeOut As Integer = 8 'Since more than 1 button is attached to this event, the if statement will sort out what button was pressed to fire this event If TypeOf (sender) Is Button Then
I've got a richtextbox control on a form and a menustripitem that allows me to change the font style. What I want to be able to do is to allow the user to type text into the richtextbox control; then if they change the font style using the menu only for newly entered text to change font, and any previously typed text to stay in the previously selected font. The problem I'm getting is that all of the entered text's font style is changed.
I have a System.Windows.Forms.RichTextBox that I wish to use to display some instructions to my application users. Is it possible to set some of the text I enter at designtime to be bold?Or do I have no option but to do it at runtime?
I am creating an application and am very new to VB. I have 4 buttons on my form which is like my applications main menu. I would like that each of the buttons behaves in the following way when there is a mouse rollover: The Button back color is changed from the default to Red The Button text is changed to Blue, Bold, and increases in font size I would also like all the buttons to go back to their initial state when the mouse leaves.
Another thing, instead of me writing code for each of the buttons event handlers (Mouse Hovers, and Mouse Leaves) is there a way I can write this code once, maybe as a function and then always call it for any button that I create from here on so that any new buttons take on this behaviour.
I have created a Richtextbox, which produces text based on user-inputted variables as well as some basic formatting - eg: name = txtname.text richtextbox1.text = "Hello my name is " & name & "." What i want to do is set the text in the name variable in Italics when it is displayed, like this.
how i can change the native scrollbar style in my application to my custom style. I can adopt a custom scrollbar to attain this purpose but this will not serve my purpose because i want this attribute in entire application. Like it the text in textbox gets longer than its bounds than the scrollbar appers are my custom bar not the formal ones
My application appends incoming report data onto a RichTextbox control. As more text arrives from an external device, the thumb initially fills the trough and as times goes on, the thumb diminishes in size. This is expected behavior.A modal dialog box allows the user to cancel the file download but since it's modal, the user can't scroll down to see what the last text that was appended. Is there a property/event/method that will show the most recent/last text in the RichTextBox control, rather than the initial text as I have it displayed now? The user would be able to see the text drawn real time without having to use the thumb to accomplish
Trying to change the color of more than one of the same text within a RichTextBox. [Code] The above code searches for, and changes the color of all "Boat"s found in the RichTextBox. There are a few problems, such as: If you were to go back to edit the RichTextBox and place your cursor in front of the, now blue word, "Boat" and type then all of your text would be blue. Also, the text you wish to change the color of in the RichTextBox MUST be Exactly the same as: "Search1", aka "Boat", capital letters and all.
I have another application that i'm currently building...
It basically is a "check list" for installed program's, and files. I image machines on a daily basis, and me making this application will save me hours, and hours of time.
I try to create a simple IrcClient. If i get a Message over the Irc, the Sub OnChannelMessage gets Enabled and should give out, what someone wrotes. The Sub:
Public Shared Sub OnChannelMessage(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As IrcEventArgs) 'Form1.RichTextBox1.Text() = "[" + e.Data.Nick.ToString + "]: " + e.Data.Message Form1.SendText.Text = "Test"[code]....
I am attempting to change the color of certain text while i am typing in the richtextbox area my only problem is. because its a selection if i keep typing then whatever is selected will be removed.[code]...
I'm trying to find a way to change the color of one word when appending text to a Rich text box. So if I append the sentence "This is a sentence with a specific word in one color" The entire thing will be in black except for the word "specific" it will be in red or any color I choose. The same thing will happen if the next line appended is "Please be specific in your request". All back except for the word "specific". I don't want the text added then someone has to click a button to change the color. It should happen as it's appended.
I want to change the text size in a richtextbox without changeing the font style (whether it is bold, inderlined or in itallics.) I have used this code, but it wont work, it just changes the font style to normal:
I have a WPF RichTextBox which contain in its FlowDocument both text and images. I need to iterate through the text's words (those which builds the text which the user see on the screen) and change their content and formatting. For instance, change the word "room" to the word "home", applying to the last a red color.
I need to change words whether they are formatted or unformatted. For instance, if a word is in Italic, colored, or just regular black text, it makes no difference for me.Each word will be replaced with one which have about identical length, so I don't want that this operation will effect the general page layout. All images and other objects should remain at their positions. It is preferred that the process of this operation will not be visible to the user. Only its result should be visible (i.e, no visible selections of text). If this operation can be done either directly on the FlowDocumet or with properties/methods of the RichTextBox, the simple one is preferred (but exmaples for both will be ideal).
I've been trying to convert my VB6 code to VB10, I'm stuck on how I should write it so I can pass a font name to my
function, So far this is what I have and not sure where to go from here. Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
I'm having trouble adjusting the font style in a RichTextBox and I've seen a few different approaches that talk about single attributes (like toggling bold on and off)... but I'm trying to make it so that my font class can adjust any attribute (bold, italic, underline).
I realize that Font.Style is a set of Boolean flags (a bitfield?)... but I'm not sure how to handle the attributes all at once.
Here is the troublesome code:
Public Sub ModifyFontStyle(Optional ByVal Plain As Object = Nothing, Optional ByVal Bold As Object = Nothing, _ Optional ByVal Italics As Object = Nothing, Optional ByVal Underlined As Object = Nothing)
[Code]....
What is happening to the font? The text should be underlined and in italics not strikethrough...
Is this a logic error or a simple misunderstanding on my part?
I have the [B] [I] [U] buttons and they work to a point but here is the problem I'm having. In MS Word,I can Hilight text and select Bold and it bolds the text, I can then select Italic and while leaving it bold, it Italicizes it.I can then click the bold button again and it will remove the bold but leave the selected text Italicized. I can't figure out how to get this action to work.I know I can OR the styles to apply multiple styles to the text but I don't know how to remove a style while maintaining any others applied. Here's a section of code that I'm messing with.[code]....btw, I am using for the comments so that the code is easier to read.I have tried (in this specific segment) newFontStyle = currentFont.Style And Not FontStyle.Bold
I am throwing some data out into Excel and am having some formatting troubles. I have 5 columns (date, time, a long number I don't want displayed in scientific notation - text is fine, text, text). I can get it all working with numberformat, however I have to do them different ways.
Date works this way cell.numberformat = "m/d/yy" and it formats it to say 3/1/11
Time works this way cell.numberformat = "h:mm AM/PM" and it formats it to say 8:07 AM
For the long number cell.numberformat = "@" and it doesn't change the format and it gets displayed in scientific notation
BUT if I use cell.style.numberformat = "@" it works as it should, but it messes up all of the date and time cells. Apparently when you use style.numberformat, it doesn't just apply to the cell you're working with. If I try using style.numberformat with the date and time formats, they don't change and are entered as if I didn't change the format at all.

how can I change the menustrip style in VB.NET 2010? I want to change it to Windows 7 style but I don't know how to as I'm a beginner. Is there any solution for this? Now my program's menustrip is like the screenshot I attached...
I'm not sure if this is at all possible (there may be a different way to acheive it) but is there a way to iterate though all hyperlinks on Page_PreRender and if the NavigateUrl matches the file name then I can add a class to the link to show this as the active page.Or even better, iterate through all hyperlink NavigateUrls within a certain DIV.
I can do it individually but that would take too long as there are so many links and be too hard to manage:
