VS 2010 Text File Read From Read Until?
Oct 3, 2009I'm trying to make a program that can read .mp3 data (Such as Artist, Album, Year, Track number, etc), but I need to be able to do two things that I have no clue how to do:
1. Read starting from a specified string (E.G, On one line it states: [code]
2. Read until a specified string (E.G, On the previously stated line,I need to read starting from what I said, up until.

Mar 11, 2012I am making a recipe book that calculates the amounts of each ingredient needed for a dinner.The user inputs the number of people they are cooking for and then my program works out the amounts of ingredients needed, simply by * number of people.I know how to read from text files using commands such as: My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText()But does anyone know how to take text for a text file, then multiply the contents of that file by the number of people?The text file only stores numbers, but I want to multiply each line seperately..Instead if getting the result of 10050*3, I want 100*3 and 50*3 on a seperate line.[code]For this to work, I suggest downloading the full project.You will also need to create a folder with two text files inside it. My code would look like this:

But say I wanted it to read from line 4 to the end of the file? The entire description I would want to save as one variable. How would I do this?

Preventing Carriage Return In Multiline Text Box?
Jun 10, 2011I have a textbox, and it's set to multiline, so a user can enter a few sentences. The problem is, if the user hits the enter button while in the textbox, it's starting a new line. This data is being saved as a text file, and it's causing problems when the text file is loaded back into the app, causing load failures.
I'd like to completely make the enter key useless when the textbox has focus. Or, if they hit enter, it tabs over to another button.
Here is some code I used to make the enter button behave more like a tab-

The problem is, the enter button still does a carriage return, causing a new line.
In the properties, Accept Return is False.

Recently I've gotten by by creating separate text file for each line (such as a text file named, "Username", another named "Password", instead of creating a single text file with both the user name and password.) Now I am faced with having to do this. I want a quick and easy way, VB won't let me do open file as input #1 for some reason. I just need the second line of text out of this text file. The only problem I have is the text in my multiline textboxes is going to the next line before it needs to. I have played around with settings, removed the textboxes and added them back, and I am still having the same problem.
