I have an array of strings that I want to join. I use this command:
[Code]....
Can i somehow after remove all newlines or VbNewLines?? or is there a better solution?
Dim asd As String() = TextBox3.Text.Split(vbNewLine)
Dim asd1 As String() = TextBox1.Text.Split(vbNewLine)
Dim asd2 As String() = TextBox2.Text.Split(vbNewLine)
Dim count As Integer
[code]....
i need to remove the vbnewlines from the array but its not working, the array populates by braking multiline textsbox's up from vbnewline but seems to keep the newlines.
I have a string like this
<li>something is here</li>
but it should be <li>something is here</li>
I am using VB.NET's TextFieldParser (Microsoft.VisualBasic.FileIO.TextFieldParser) to read a delimited file. However, when I try to read in a field with consecutive newlines within the field, the consecutive newlines are turned into a single new line. I would like the consecutive newlines to be preserved, but am unsure how.Here's an example file that I am reading in with exactly one field. The quotes are part of the file's content and there are three newlines (including the two consecutive newlines following line 2):
"This is line 1
This is line 2
This is line 4, which follows two consecutive newlines."Here is the code that I am using to parse and read in the file:
Dim reader as New Microsoft.VisualBasic.FileIO.TextFieldParser(myFile, System.Text.Encoding.Default)
reader.TextFieldType = FileIO.FieldType.Delimited
reader.SetDelimiters(",")

I want to make a simple database but that at each time i press a save button my saved textfile get added the new data but the point is to first make like 3 lines i mean spaces
View 3 RepliesI am stuck on what 'should' be a fairly simple thing to solve, however after a good search i haven't got very far.
Basically i am pulling data from a database which might have multiple lines of data, however for one particular task i only want to grab the first line of text (as a sort of preview).[code]...
I have a VB method
Public Sub append_text(ByVal s As String)
f1.TextBox1.AppendText(s)
End Sub
which is called over COM from C++
_bstr_t b(L"test
new
lines
");
ATLENSURE_SUCCEEDED(t->append_text(b));
But the text box ends up saying
testnewlines
Without the aforementioned new lines.Why is that then?
just to finalise this, how can i remove duplicates? i have tried this:
[Code]....
I have the following coding in place which basically edits my text file, however with the information that is shown in the text file I want to remove all duplicates, is this possible?
Dim path As String = "c: est1.txt"
Dim sb As New StringBuilder
Dim sr As New StreamReader(path)
[Code]....
I have taken my project that seemed to have several bugs in VB2008 Express and upgraded to 2010. I had to remove or add several references again. I don't have any more errors but I have the following 5 warnings that keep me from compiling the build. I was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions on what these mean or how to take care of the problem. I will list the warnings below. I'm on a Win XP machine with Office 2010 (if that might affect things).
Warning1A reference was created to embedded interop assembly 'ADODB' because of an indirect reference to that assembly from assembly 'AxInterop.OWC11'. Consider changing the 'Embed Interop Types' property on either assembly.PE Files

This last one I have gotten before but when I tried to update the components it only caused my program to become corrupt and tons of errors. I'm not sure if I did something wrong previously or if this might have been a random occurrence.
I am retrieving string values from a table and then encode each term to make a httpwebrequest to an api. It works fine and the terms allow for foreign characters like japanese/arabic/chinese etc and these are inserted fine. The problem occurs when some of these terms contain weird characters and that is when the request is bad. The only reason it is bad xml and the template I follow gets invalid are when these characters are present. I use the
system.securityelement.escape
And also
httputility.htmlencode
As part of my cleanup. One of the weird characters ends up appearing as a space but it is not since the trim(term) does not work and when I look at the xml in visual studio it looks like an ' &' with arrow pointing up attached to it. It does not appear after I pasted it here.It appears as a line feed or carriage return and I have tried to remove that too. Anyway is there some way I can ensure that these sort of characters are removed and if I were to use the binary values like <32 invalid, will foreign characters then get excluded.
temp = temp.replace(vbCr, "")
temp = temp.replace(vbLf, "")
temp = SecurityElement.Escape(temp)
I don't know what's got into them but they decided to purchase vs2010 pro licenses in my company. Anyway i gave it a quick look and since i don't need to have it installed right now (service pack 1 first, Microsoft anti-bug law) i uninstalled it. The problem i see is that it leaves leftovers everywhere.C++ redist, ado components, sql r2 components etc. These will not be deleted if i just remove vs2010 but will be installed if i install vs2010 full.Anyway i ended up removing them one by one and it took about 30-45 minutes. So has anyone have done a removal? Is this the case? I cannot remove most of the components with one big uninstall?
View 2 RepliesOk, I found some code online on how to do this, but they only compare the Listview.item.text, and they don't care what is in the entire ListViewItem. Is there any code to remove duplicates in a ListView that checks to see if all the subitems are the same as well and THEN removes the entry? [Code]

View 4 RepliesHow to remove the Nothing elements from an array using a For or For Each loop? I have to display the array to a datagrid, but the Nothing elements of the shows up as zeros. This is the code I have so far for my button click event:

For m As Integer = 0 To carArray.Length - 1
If carArray(m).carid = txtDelete.Text Then
carArray(m) = Nothing

I know you can run
treeview1.Nodes.clear()
and that removes everything, but how, or it is even possible, to just remove children and keep the parents. I added the root nodes in the properties window and built my code around those, but clearing also removes them. Then of course that makes the code error as it can't find the code when I re populate the treeview.
i made a proxy web browser.Now i want to make when proxy loads and as i have putted timer on how long it to view the link.

I'm currently stuck on something I need to have done for my application. I have a listbox where I have a lot of urls in the following format: [URL] With the quotes on it. Now I want only these links to remain in the listbox and to remove the quotes and rl around it. I tried using regex but it didn't worked out for me.
View 4 RepliesI started programming Visual Basic .NET a few weeks ago. I wanted to make a tool to remove duplicate lines from a listbox. I have the following

I have a Timers.Timer called COMTimeout, to which I add an event handler using:
AddHandler COMTimeout.Elapsed, AddressOf TimeoutEvent
however, the handler may also be:
AddHandler COMTimeout.Elapsed, AddressOf SecondTimeoutEvent
I now need to remove the handler, is there a way to do it without knowing the name or do I need to keep track of which handler as been assigned?
Does anyone know if you can remove focus from all controls on a form so a user doesn't inadvertently cause action on a control when it's unintended such as hitting Enter at the same time your app appears causing some action to occur? Do you have to leave focus on at least one control?

I have two text files and each text file has various columns (each column is separated by a tab " "), now some of the fields in column1 text file2 match the fields in column1 text file1. What I'm trying to achieve is to remove every row in text file 1 where the field in column1 matches the field in column 1 textfile 2 - is this possible?I have used some basic coding in the past to remove certain lines, but nothing as complex as this.
Dim linesList As New List(Of String)(File.ReadAllLines("Path"))
linesList.RemoveAt(1)
File.WriteAllLines("Path", linesList.ToArray())
I noticed that when some of my buttons are clicked, this ugly black rectangle appears in it, around the central text. It only happens to the buttons with a "Flat" style applied to them.
