I've removed a few controls from my form, but they're still in the properties. I've looked in the Document Outline, but nothing. How can I remove them (save)?

However whenever I run this sub function, it deletes every other button starting with "R". better code or point out if the flaw is in that piece of code or it is hidden somewhere else in my program?
I have a query about dynamically added controls to a form. I have a series of buttons which are created and added at run time. I have a two drop down lists and two buttons which are created at design time. Button 1 creates a series of buttons called "Test 1.x" based upon the selection of the two drop down lists. This works fine and am happy with the logic.However.... Button two should remove all the dynamically created buttons from the form.This does not happen. What does happen is that 50% of the buttons are removed starting with the first one. WHen checking the loop it only enters the loop half the amount of times that there are buttons. Very strange. When the loop is run repeatability it will remove all controls. Why will my logic not remove all the dynamically created controls at once? What is wrong with my logic?

I created a textbox control on a form and I gave some integer value to it from runtime but after sometime i removed it from design and code also.. But when I run program its still showing with that integer value. So what should I do. How should I remove that control?

View 2 RepliesYesterday I installed vs2008, installed SP1 all seems well.I have converted a project (from VS2005), it works fine but....When I try and modify any of the forms none of the controls aer displayed on the form.Additionally I have noticed that each form has a formname.designer.vb file, the top few lines of the code in the designer.vb files are;

I dragged and dropped a label from the toolbox onto a form (Label6) and stupidly went to the properties window and set "Text" to blank. Label6 shows when the program is run using F5 but does not show on the design surface if I want to move or remove it. How do I get it back onto the design surface or remove it completely?

I want to have the data from a single row shown in text boxes and the multiple rows show in a datagridview is it possible to hide/show those depending on the amount of rows.

No matter what size I set the form to in the designer, it never uses that, so I figured I would set it with code right after setting the location.

I have a solution with about 5 projects, the main (startup) project is a windows forms project while the others are control libraries that contain some custom controls. The main winforms project however also contains some custom controls.
Recently, the controls in the main winforms project have stopped appearing in my toolbox. The controls from the other control library projects appear just fine, but none of the controls in my main project will show...
Some of the projects are VB, some are C#.
I have tried everything I know to fix it:Delete bin/debug folders and restart
Build, build, build, build, and build Target the same .NET Framework version and CPU platform in all projects Build again Nothing works...
All projects target .NET Framework 4.0 and compile for the x86 platform (since I am using Access db). All projects build successfully, no errors. I can run the solution just fine. I can even declare and add the controls in code and they work just fine. They just don't show up in the toolbox so I can't drag them to my form and I have to dig into the designer code everytime, which is really annoying!
I'm trying to write a routine which will produce a list of the values of some of the properties for every control that I've placed on a form. I can do this manually by looking up the names of each of the controls, but I'd rather use a construct like this -for each formname as string in xxxx

However, I'm having problems with the various examples of this code that I found in the library. I'm not sure whether it's because I don't know how to set up the syntax correctly or this sort of construct isn't possible in this context.
I am trying to access the controls' properties on another form without having to modify the code of the other projec (the one containing the controls that I want to access) because it is already compiled as a DLL. In this DLL that I am trying to access, the functions/sub-procedures are all declared as private. Would there be any way of accessing the controls' properties without having to modify the DLL? Basically what I am trying to do is create a sort of console application wrapper for the DLL that would create a new instance of the DLL's form and then make certain checkboxes checked and click certain buttons. Basically, I am trying to automate the form as it currently exists.
View 7 RepliesI am running Visual Basic 2008 express edition. My controls toolbox is empty. There are also no properties for the form controls on my project. Just blank. I have removed the .net framework v2.0. I had the .net framework v3.5 installed at the time, and thought I didn't need the older version (v2.0). Do I need v.2.0 for the tools? If so, where can I get a copy? What's the filename called?

Example:

Main form have label control I define properties in the interface Plugins.dll from Data.dll I load Plugins to read the label control from the mainform.The question is how can I do that?
I am upgrading from Access 2003 to Access 2007. I found this page on the MSDN library http:[url]....Some of my code uses some of these properties that according to this page are "hidden" in 2007. So exactly what does "hidden" mean? Does this mean I can still set these properties in code or does this mean that Microsoft has not fully removed them but their functionality is dormant in Access 2007?

What we want to do is add a handler (AddHandler Pane, AddressOf MethodName) on the mainwindow and throw the event in the Pane. When we want something to change on a collection in the mainwindow, we throw that event in the Pane.
My question is if the pane is removed from the panegroup (doesn't exist anymore), does that handler still live on the mainwindow?
I am wondering if anyone has any idea how to make the controls stack and fill up the available space left by a control if the control is hidden or removed from the UltraGridBagLayoutPanel.

If I hide [Textbox 3] as of now, it will disperse the space left equally and pad the remaining text boxes with the space. However, I would like it to do this...

Where all the text boxes will move up and [Textbox 4] will completely consume the space left by [Textbox 3].
The object browser in visual studio contains many controls and properties ....so is it possible to remember in mind all these controls. Whenever i am programming in vb 2008 and for reference i look at the examples on internet i always find some new controls,properties etc which makes me confuse.So i was wondering If by any means there is a way to remember all these controls
View 4 RepliesI am using a timer control to display a message form in my application, but it's not working the way I want it to. Currently, when the timer event fires I create a new instance of my message form & display it. But if the user is away from their desk & doesn't close the message form before the timer fires again, a new instance of the message form is created & shown. So how can I check to see if the message form is currently shown on the screen so multiple ones dont get displayed? This is my timer event:

Do I need to use the default instance of the message form instead of creating a new one?
I'm using a masked text box control. It has a property, ValidatingType, that is not available at designtime so it doesn't appear in the properties window of the IDE. The IDE has two drop-downs where you can select an object in your project on the left drop-down and see the associated members on the right drop-down.
My question is: Why, if I select my masked text box control on the left drop-down, don't I see the ValidatingType property on the right drop-down? All the events for the text box appear, why not the property members as well? Perhaps because it only shows properties that I code for an object?
I have a vb.net baseclass in a dll in my c# project. I created a derived class in c#. I fill the C# class with all its properties, including the base properties from the vb class. Now I send them through a webservice (c# ) to a jQuery client. But on the client I only see the vb properties?

Just found out that if I remove the vb.net class, all the properties are showing fine from the C# class. Also found out that the vb.net is declared like this:

Could it be the dictionary or the interface? (Which sums up the properties I was seeing).
Inside a form, I would like to display a pdf file which is already available in my resources (template file "untitled"). In this pdf file, I have some fields which get their values from some texboxes in another form. My aim is, when the user triggers the button to call this form, it should insert the values inside the pdf file and display the output pdf inside the form.I have written the code to an extend but could not finish it myself after my many trials... Now here are the two things I cannot manage:I can use a directory to read the template pdf "untitled1.pdf". But my aim is to use the file inside my resources. can save the output file in a directory but this is not I want to do. I want to display the output pdf.

It takes about a minute or 2 to run updatedata as it is doing multiple things to a database - when I execute this code, it stalls and loads the data, then when done I do get my label that says loading complete, but I never see the label before it is done loading to tell the user that it is processing. Is there any way to force it to show before UpdateData() is called so that it shows during the load time?
I'm writing a really simple file updater which downloads files off from a website and saves them. The download routine is working well, except that it freezes the project while attempting to connect to the host. Easily solved with threading except now when I try to access other form items such as text boxes, labels, form caption, it says I am not doing it in a safe manner and prompts an interrupt in debug. I did some reading on it and I'm still not sure what to do, I'm very new to vbnet and it is still a little confusing to me.

I have a very simple setup, single mycontrol.ascx with assoicated mycontrol.ascx.designer.vb and mycontrol.ascx.vb file.
mycontrol.ascx embeds a single reference to a custom control: "MyMenu":

This has created a protected reference in the mycontrol.ascx.designer.vb file:
Protected WithEvents myMenu1 As Global.CustomControls.MyMenu
Now, when I breakpoint the Page_Load() event of mycontrol.ascx, and inspect the members returned from the type via:
Me.GetType().GetMembers()
I cannot any reference to myMenu1. If I look at the control with intellisence, the property is accessible:

I have a custom class (Class1) with a bunch of properties. One of the properties of this class is another custom class (Class2) with its own properties.I have a property grid with the selected object set to Class 1. I can see Class 2 as a property, but i would like to expand Class 2 to show its properties in the same property grid.
Im basically trying to do the exact same thing as the Font Class on a form. If you look at the properties of a form in the designer, you can see the font property. You can then expand that to show the properties of the font class.
In the form design I set up a TableLayoutPanel, 20x20 cells and in cell (1,1) a PictureBox (called Target) containing the image of a small target. The properties box for Target shows some very promising properties, Column and Row - and if you overwrite the values in the properties box, the PictureBox obligingly shifts to the corresponding cell position in th design. However in VB it is not possible to refer to Me.Target.Row or .Column - neither appears during coding in the menu of properties, and deliberately coding either of them produces an error like
Error 1 'row' is not a member of 'System.Windows.Forms.PictureBox'.
1. Why does the properties box show properties that cannot be altered programmatically?
2. How can my program move Target around in the TableLayoutPanel?
Is it possible to resize my controls on my form when I run it? The problem I have is that I have created a windows application which has a maximize state on all forms but on some machines my controls go missing (mostly on widescreen laptops). Ideally some way of resizing my controls would probably be best? So is that possible?
View 10 RepliesI've run in to a very annoying situation. At the moment I have a program with 4 forms. 3 of these forms work fine, but the fourth seems to be a dud. After clicking any one of the buttons or controls on this form it works. But if I try to click anything again, it doesn't work. I can't use my back buttons, I can't even use the minimize, maximize and exit buttons in the top right corner which are automatically built in to the program. I fear I have accidentally changed a setting, or accidentally deleted some very crucial code for this
