VS 2010 - Removing Temp Document Stored In Array?

Nov 28, 2011

In my desktop, I have folder containing some word document files. I want the filenames of the documents in that folder. So, I used:
Dim strFiles() As String = IO.Directory.GetFiles("X:Documents and SettingsXXXDesktopvvvvv", "*.doc")
All filenames are stored in that array. But it would also include the temp document that Word generates. I am somewhat confused on how to remove this from array. I only need full filenames of the actual documents, which excludes the temp document.

C# - Isn't Number Localization Just Unnecessary?

May 10, 2011

I've just read this page [URL] One of the things they did was to convert the arabic date to the arabic calendar. I'm wondering if it is a good idea at all to do so. Will it actually be annoying/confusing for the user (even if the user is Arabic). Also, my second question is that do we really need to change 3,899.99 to 3.899,99 for some cultures like German? I mean it doesn't hurt to do so since the library already does it for us but wouldn't this actually cause more confusion to the user (even if he is German).

C# - Does The JIT Compiler Optimize (inline) Unnecessary Variable Declarations

Oct 20, 2011

I've read several articles and questions/answers that conclude the best practice is to let the JIT compiler do all the optimization for inline function calls. Makes sense. What about inline variable declarations? Does the compiler optimize these as well?

[Code]...

Of course I prefer the latter because it's easier to read and debug, but I can't afford the performance degradation if it exists. I have already identified this code as a bottleneck -- No need for retorts about premature optimization.

Removing Element From Array?

Oct 11, 2009

I haven't used vb.net in about a year. I have a few arrays, the first holds a list of names. that list is used to load files into memory and then based off that file, another array is filled with my custom data type.

array of names is a file. it is not in memory unless it is being written to or read from. the second array is where all of my data is stored Dim fs As New FileStream("EmpVec.vec", FileMode.OpenOrCreate)'EmpVec.vec" is the file that stores all of the names Dim reader As New StreamReader(fs)while not(reader.EndOfStream)'code that is used to load and fill my array'it sees the name, searches for a file with the same name, then loads data from that file into my vector and memory'as i do this, i fill a list box with the name, and another string object (name & vbtab & string)end while. so that is when i populate my arrays what i would like figuring out is how to remove objects from my arrays here is what i got Dim index As Integer = Me.lstEmpList.SelectedIndex EmpVec(index) = Nothing 'EmpVec is the array that stores all of my custom data types

Me.lstEmpList.Items.RemoveAt(index)''this will remove the data from the array but I also save all the contents in the array to the EmpVec File'so when it hits the empty element, it crashes because there is no data'i would basically like to resize it

Removing A Listbox Item When It Stored In An Array?

Jan 7, 2011

Basically, the user can type in a name and a job description into two different txt boxes and then click add. It then adds the name to the listbox and stores it in a string list (Public strList As New List(Of String)) it also stores the job description in a string list as well (Public strListDescription As New List(Of String))Then when you select an item in the list box it knows what data to bring up in the txt boxes using an array with these lists:

Code:
Private Sub lstMyCourt_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles lstMyCourt.SelectedIndexChanged
Dim i As Integer

Resize Array By Removing All Empty/null/0 Elements?

Jun 2, 2012

I have a large one dimensional array that is called ArrayHold which is populated at runtime. I run a loop to scan through the array to find out which elements need to be removed based on a few parameters. This all works great, now I am left with two arrays. The original one and a new one which contains the locations of the elements to be removed.

Original Array: ("A")("B")("C")("D")("E")("F")("G")("H")

Second Array with index/count of elements that needs to be removed: ("0")("3")("5")("7")

End result should be preferably not in a new array but a "ReDim" of the original array:("B")("C")("E")("G")

What would be the simplest way to achieve this? I could run a loop to make all the elements that need to be removed "0" or ""? Would there be an easy way of resizing and array by dropping/removing all the white space or empty elements?

VS 2010 - Removing Items From A List (of T) With For Each

Dec 14, 2010

Public Structure ReportOrderType
Public ReportName As String
Public ReportDate As Date
Public SaveFile As String
End Structure
[Code] ....

Basically, I have a list of reports. In one place they get ordered, and later on the program looks to see which ones have come back -- see if the .SaveFile exists on disk. If it exists, then that report gets processed, and then I want to remove that item from the list of reports-on-order. However, I get an error message back that by doing the .Remove(R), I've changed the list itself & things won't go well with the rest of the For Each loop, which makes some sense.

When I get to this routine, the list of ordered reports will be something from a couple of dozen or less, and some number of them (perhaps zero, perhaps all, probably a few) will exist & be processed & then should be removed from the list. How should I go about accomplishing this? This is my first time working with List(of t) as a Visual Basic tool; everything I've used in the past has been with arrays, and I can do this there.

VS 2010 : Removing Characters From A String?

But now I have a couple other conditions that I dont know how to handle with my regex string. I actually only want to keep the "." character if it falls between two digit characters (ie. 3.5), otherwise remove it. And also I need to replace any "-" characters with a space if it falls between two digit characters (ie. 2-1), otherwise remove it.
