"pbAnimated" PictureBox contains the .GIF animation. How can I save that animation to file?
I have a picturebox with a animated gif,as yuo can see it goes up the bricks, 1,2,3,4 etc as it should when displayed in my picturebox it goes threw the bricks 1,3,5 then back round next time 2,4,6 and so on..is there some sort of delay?

I thought I could do this with a timer but I can't really seem to get it to work. I need this in the form_load because the first picturebox shows on form load.

View 6 RepliesI wrote a little utility that compares pictures in a directory against each other and will display them side by side in two pictureboxes so the user can weed out duplicates. Anyway, seemed to be working fine until I started testing a directory that had animated gifs in it. The gifs will start playing in the form's pictureboxes, but at random (with no action taken by user) one of them will crash and give the attached error script. The other gif will continue running, but the offending picturebox will have the unrecoverable red "x", reloading or changing images does nothing after that point for that picturebox. As part of the apparent randomness, it will happen on either picturebox and the amount of time before it happens varies and does not seem to correlate to anything. For additional confusion, I have also seen where there is no error thrown, but both picturesboxes will suddenly go to the red x in the middle of a gif.

i made a vitual dekstop and i have a few problems that to be fixed. The first problem i have is that i have a picturebox as the entire form like the desktop background but the progrblem is that i have some group boxes over that picturebox box. How can i make so you can see throw the group box so that you can see the image behind it. And how can i save a picturebox image without a save file dialog

View 2 RepliesI've been searching for days. I can't find anything that I think is going to work. I've probably read the answer and skipped it because I don't get it. I'm new. I've researched multithreading, sub routines and webbrowser. The webbrowser thing doesn't seem professional to me.
All I want is the animation to be smooth when it's displayed and to have it integrated into the app so it's not called from the local drive.The animated gif is in PictureBox3. Please point me in the right direction. I really don't want to use a static image.

View 2 RepliesI am new to VB and having an issue with Print Screen. I'm trying to take a screen shot, show it in a picBox and then save the image to a file. Eventually, I want to add a timer and have the webcam open on screen so that I can take a set of pictures and save them to the hard drive (a very simple "security" cam).What's happening is when I click on my "Start" button the screen shot always seems capture the last screen event (ie: if I move the dialog from left to right and click "Start" the dialog is still showing on left side of screen shot). Not sure what's going on with this. I tried variations to update (picBox.Refresh(), .Update(), and .Show()) without any change. It's as if two clicks are required to make a capture.Also, I'm trying to save the image that's been captured and can't seem to get that working.

I've been racking my brain trying to figure this out. I've done a ton of searching but I can't find what I'm looking for. Right now my program gets a image file, converts the image to 4 colors (Black, Red, Yellow and Green), then converts each pixel to a number for that color.This works great, but now I'm trying to do this for an animated image, but I need to be able to loop through each frame, but I haven't been able to figure out how to access each frame of the image.
View 6 RepliesI'm using a picture box to show an animated gif on my form. When i created the gif, I set it so it only loops once. The gif plays correctly in a browser, but when i set the image of the picture box to my animated gif it continuously loops.
I only want to loop once through the images embedded in my animated gif when i set the image of the picture box. What is the easiest way to do this? Does anyone have or know of any sample code to do this? I have been searching this for a while, but have not been able to find anything.

View 9 RepliesI need a better solution that what I am currently using, and not sure where to go from here.The program uses a scanner and scans documents into it. It uses a flat file (essentially a csv) to store data captured from the documents being scanned (each line in the file is one "document", with each value in the line being some piece of data from that document).
The scanner can scan up to 100 documents per minute, so it runs very fast.Currently, when a document is scanned in, the flat file is opened, a line written to it, then closed.It works for the most part, but sometimes i guess it's too fast for the IO operation, and some documents get completely missed. It will throw an error "error accessing file....". I assume this is because the file is still open from writing the last document to it.
Documents can be scanned at random, so they aren't always constantly scanning. It may scan 100 at a time now, then wait 10 minutes, and then scan one document.Database is not an option, per the specs of this program. It must be flat files. If theres a way to use a flat file like a database, that's cool. It doesn't have to be in CSV format.
It MUST be able to write to the file immediately after scanning. I worry about leaving the file open for writing constantly while the program is open because of a system failure or crash, the file may get corrupt or lost. That is not acceptable. It must be the best option for data recovery, should the computer crash or power go out, etc.

As you can see there is this string "™" on <gd02>. My question is, whenever I save the file, the code changed to "TM" which is fine for most cases. But I need it to stay the same because apparently flash will not display the superscript "TM" if not using the code. How can I do this?
How do you save all the settings in a simple code; lets say you have a text box, a checkbox, and a listbox.
In the text box, it lets say you wrote hi
checkbox, you checked it off
listbox, you selected lets say HI from it.
How do you save the settings onto a file? Lets say a .cfg or whatever thats called file. Its like automatic, so that the cgf says lets say says:
NameofCheckBox=true
NameOfListBox=HI
NameOfTextBox=hi
Any way to do this stuff? I've seen some people do it, but they wont tell me how. I dont want to add all this code just to make a file that saves it & reads from it. I know the streamwriter and streamreader, but its a bit complicated.

I know this can be solved by running program as administrator and be able to save in whatever path you like but it would be good if the user didnt have to. Vista and win 7 suxx in this regard although win7 is great otherwise, use it myself.

I developed a organizer app that will allow me to type in multiple different script ideas I have. I have different text fields for genre, length, characters, etc. Anyway, my problem is how do I go about saving at the information in those text boxes. Is there someway I can save the project as a file, then open it back up to modify it, while still being able to create new ones. Someone suggested using xml data storage, but will that allow me to save multiple different data sets, since I won't just be working with one script all the type.
