Use Two Forms To Search In One And Display The Records To The Other Using VB 2010, SQL Server 2008?
Jan 18, 2012I have 2 forms in my visual basic 2010 project. Both are connected with an SQL 2008 Server where i keep a db with customers records(name,surname,address, etc).What i want to do is to give certain criteria in the first form, lets say name,and hit a search button. The program should search the db if the specified name exists.If it exists i want to show the results in the second form.By results i mean the name , surname, address,etc. If it does not exist i want to prompt the user to insert data into the db.The problem is that i know how to do this work in a single form but not how to make the two forms "communicate" with each other (meaning that one does the search and the other the projection-adding part).
Edit:I tried setting the filters but all i get is errors. I will post whatever i have written so far in case someone can help me out. So here it is.As i stated earlier i know how to search for the data in a single form(lets call it DisplayForm). As Olivier mentioned i have textboxes for the records, a combo box with the search criteria(name , surname,id) and a Search button that perfoms the search and populates the text boxes. The code for the search button is this:

I'm wanting to make a quiz app that reads the contents of a text file, with about 500 multi-choice questions in it. It is in the following format QUESTION NO: 1 This is the question, what is the answer?

B. Or this Answer
C. Maybe this Answer
D. Or this Answer
Answer: D
QUESTION NO: 2 and so on. I would like it to display the question number in say...a textbox, along with the question and the multi-choice. And then depending on user input, says correct or incorrect.

Aug 21, 2009i am new to programming but love to learn new things. I decided to jump in head first and write my own program on a whim one day. I've learned what I have so far through both books and online forums and help files.One thing I can't really seem to figure out, though, is how to implement a feature into my program.
I don't know if any of you will know what I'm talking about when I say that thing I want to program is my own article spinner. I've used them before, but all of the ones I have used require me to be online. I want to design my own for offline use.
The basics are this: You write an article in a textbox. Once you have that done, you go back and rewrite various words and phrases within the article using a format like this: {word1|word2} and {phrase one|phrase 2} and so on. Click a button and it saves your article to any number of text files using your unchanged words and phrases while also choosing just one of your words and phrases within the braces and between the bars.

Making A Dictionary In .Net - Create "apps" For Wikipedia, Wiktion?
Jun 13, 2011Basically, what I've done is given the user four tabs to choose from. The main one is the dictionary which I've compiled, and the other three tabs link to online encyclopedias and dictionaries. However, what I want to do is make an app for each of these, because of the fact that the screen space I am giving the user is limited (499px x 254px), and I also believe that it will look more professional.
What I'm thinking of doing is putting the logo towards the top, and then:For Wikipedia, putting the title and picture at the top and breaking the article into show/hide sections like the mobile version
For Wiktionary, putting the title at the top, and breaking it down into show/hide sections when applicable
For Dictionary.com. putting the title at the top and showing the definitions (with linked pronunciations) underneath
Of course, I'll need it to automatically redirect itself to the webpage I need it to go to, because I don't want to type another 300,000 lines of code just to go to a website.

Add a new resource file and name it formMain.Strings.resx Then i will enter name, value pair for every string that should be translated. When you add resource file then it is automatically typed because another file with name ormMain.Strings.Designer.cs is automatically regenerated on every close of resx designer.Add another resource with name formMain.Strings.de-DE.resx. Add the same Name key's from previous resource, and just change the Value with coresponding german words. Now to access created resource from the source it will be like this

Processing the blog article and detecting any URLS in the post then converting those URLS into clickable hyperlinksCoverts all carriage returns into <BR /> tags. Although it does processes the complete article as required, including detecting all of the links, it seems that the loop to process used to detect the links ONLY detects the very first link it comes accross and every other subsequent link becomes that first link found. Clearly that isn't the desired outcome, maybo you guys can let me know how to correct this issue?

this is the end of the place in the paragraph. I do not want to use substring. This file is huge, have over 200 lines which i rather to grab specific area of the file and then be able to pull that huge text of string and put that string in the other file which will merge into one document.

Mar 15, 2012i am trying to make a search form with 1 label(surname) and textbox. i have 1 gridview on the form aswell. can you plz provide me any code so that when i type in textbox i should c the result in the gridview. wat i have done right now is. i have added data source and i than dragged the dataset.but when i load the form i already can see the data loaded on grid view .it than filters depending on the textbox. i want this gridview to be empty when it gets loaded.
