I'm new to Visual Basic.net, I've had some experience with ye old visual basic however. I'm wanting to make a quiz app that reads the contents of a text file, with about 500 multi-choice questions in it. It is in the following format QUESTION NO: 1 This is the question, what is the answer?
A. This Answer
B. Or this Answer
C. Maybe this Answer
D. Or this Answer
Answer: D
QUESTION NO: 2 and so on. I would like it to display the question number in say...a textbox, along with the question and the multi-choice. And then depending on user input, says correct or incorrect.

I have two text files, the first text file has two columns separated by a space (" ") and the second text file only has one column.
The column 1 in text file 1 and text file 2 match albeit in different order, what I'm trying to achieve is for every field in column 1 text file 2 I want to search for column 1 in text file 1 and display the matching column 2 field in column 2 text file 2.

I'm creating a search function to search through a binary file and find a record based on the users input. Surprisingly, that isn't the problem! The problem I'm having is that as part of this I'm using a procedure to display results in text boxes, and I'm getting the error "Too many arguments to private sub display customer"I've encountered this error before, but never really knew what it was... View 4 RepliesI've created a form which correctly displays all my fields in a recordset. I can scroll through them, add new records, delete records, etc. etc. and everything is fine. I now want to add a Search field to the form so that when the user enters a search string, it automatically searches through the dataset and refreshes the display to display the appropriate search result (i.e. populates the currently open form with the appropriate record).I have a simple database, and I have created a form (not a datagrid) for displaying the records (and to make it easy to add new records and browse through with the next and precious record buttons). I'm using visual studio 2010 and sql server 2005 to store my data. I'm creating a system that will allow me to find/search for records that are stored within the database. Thing is, i have 2 separate forms for this - one is the find/search page which allows you to enter in as many fields as you want (the more you enter, the more efficient the search is) and the second one is the find/search results page which will show the results from the search.
I'm not using a datagrid as i've already created these forms myself. I'm on a tight schedule because i've spent so much time already trying to get this to work. Do i need to create another dataset and tableadapter and bind the text boxes? how will i code the find/search button so the search will be carried out and the results will appear in the other form?
i was able to display a search data/record in my datagridview but my textboxes remains still and wont change to the corresponding row i have selected in my datagridview. other meaning of my doubt is how to bound a textbox with my datagridview so that it should display the details in the texbox of whichever row i'll be selecting from the datagridview

My problem is that I also want them to be able to edit the name and update it, and this is not working for some reason. I'm using GridView and because of the way my search function works, I can't link the GridView directly to data source. What function do I need to add to make the uploading work, or what do I need to change in my search function so that I'll be able to link to data source a(nd have the upload function be automatic) ?

Simply put, I have a text file full of reg values. I want to search the text file for X number of reg values. I want to then, have those values and their dword values (whole line + next 3 to 4 lines in the file) listed in either another text file or an Excel spreadsheet.
