Search A Word In A Db And Display It At Gridview?

I'm trying to build a page in which the users should be able to type a name into a search box, click search and the name will be displayed. My problem is that I also want them to be able to edit the name and update it, and this is not working for some reason. I'm using GridView and because of the way my search function works, I can't link the GridView directly to data source. What function do I need to add to make the uploading work, or what do I need to change in my search function so that I'll be able to link to data source a(nd have the upload function be automatic) ?
My code for my search function is :

i am trying to make a search form with 1 label(surname) and textbox. i have 1 gridview on the form aswell. can you plz provide me any code so that when i type in textbox i should c the result in the gridview. wat i have done right now is. i have added data source and i than dragged the dataset.but when i load the form i already can see the data loaded on grid view .it than filters depending on the textbox. i want this gridview to be empty when it gets loaded.

My app is a Reader for personal use. I have it setup By Books of the Bible and by Chapters and verses.
What I would like to be able to do, is to search for Pharaoh (any word) in a textbox, click the Search Button, and every occurrence of Pharaoh (not just the word, but the entire Verse: EX: Gen Ch7:14 Blah Blah Blah Pharaoh Blah Blah. Gen Ch9 :3 Blah Pharaoh Blah); to display inside a RTF or TextBox.

I have a label that is supposed to display a word for 5 seconds and then move down the list in a text file and display the next word.I'm oddly able to make it work in random mode, but not going down the list in order.. random would be ok if used words didn't come up again.

I'm developing a small application which should eventually display a report in Microsoft Word. The only problem is, I can't get the GridView to export to MWord.
Here's the scenario: A customers items are entered into the table (Items), the customer almost always has more than one item. The report needs to be displayed to the specific customers data, so if I chose John Doe as my customer, the report would contain a table with his items and all other data specific to John.
What would be an efficient way of exporting this gridview, and how would the sql query tie in with that? (I'm still quite new to Visual Basic) and a side question: I need to total the cost of all the items concerning the one customer, and have that value passed to a textbox. How would I go about doing this?

am using asp and VB.Net to make it to where people can check in and check out. I have gridview which has where it shows the data from my sql server that i put dummy data in. When i load my website the data shows up. I do no want that. I want it to be hidden till i enter a number into my textbox and click retrieve and it retrieves everything with a childID (my primary key) of the entered id. I have a datagridview with three columns (ID, Name, Address). It's bound to a database that contains around 500 items. I want to be able to search the gridview for data given in a text box, and then highlight it. If possible, pressing the Next button should find the next match, and the Reset button should clear all selections (nothing highlighted).

im aware that postion is 0 by default and -1 when the word is not there and 1 when its there.

I need to develop an application that can search through a book and list out all the pages and lines that contain a given keyword. For books that are split up in some other way, such as a bible which is split up by chapter and verse; they would be able to search for all verses that contain a certain keyword. Or alternatively, search within certain chapters and verses for a keyword. What format should I store the book into? Should it be stored into a SQL database? What format would be easiest for searching as opposed to easiest for storage?

I have a web browser called WebBrowser1 in my VB program. I have done it so when you hit a button on my program it loads up a website in the web browser. The website loaded in the web browser will either say ACCEPTED or DECLINED or ERROR. I need some code so that once the website has loaded it will search for 1 of them values. Once it finds one of the values it will display a message box saying Sent or Declined or Error.
