Mar 6, 2009I'm trying to write a function to find a word in a string in the this format : "ThisissometextthatIneedtofindandthisisthetext. This is another text."It's read as " This is some text that I need to find and this is the text. This is another text." but there is no space between each word. I want to get the word "text" or any word in that string. Can you help me with this function with a code sample ?
And I think that this method can be implemented with a string of Unicode also because in a sentence of Unicode it contains one or few, sometimes zero spaces between each word.
Prepend A String To All Strings In A List Of Strings?
Aug 5, 2010I have a list of strings. For each string in that list, I want to prepend another string. I wrote a method to do it, but I was wondering if there was something already in .NET I could use to do this. It seems like something that could be built in, but I was not able to find anything.
Here is the method I wrote:

The app will download the HTML source and parse through it to find the required strings. The strings may not have tags. note multiple instances of the string needs to be found. I've tried a few very rudimentary ways, and although they work, they are extremely slow.

Jul 29, 2009I need to develop an application that can search through a book and list out all the pages and lines that contain a given keyword. For books that are split up in some other way, such as a bible which is split up by chapter and verse; they would be able to search for all verses that contain a certain keyword. Or alternatively, search within certain chapters and verses for a keyword. What format should I store the book into? Should it be stored into a SQL database? What format would be easiest for searching as opposed to easiest for storage?

Search A Word In A Db And Display It At Gridview?
Dec 30, 2008I'm trying to build a page in which the users should be able to type a name into a search box, click search and the name will be displayed. My problem is that I also want them to be able to edit the name and update it, and this is not working for some reason. I'm using GridView and because of the way my search function works, I can't link the GridView directly to data source. What function do I need to add to make the uploading work, or what do I need to change in my search function so that I'll be able to link to data source a(nd have the upload function be automatic) ?

Sep 15, 2009I have a web browser called WebBrowser1 in my VB program. I have done it so when you hit a button on my program it loads up a website in the web browser. The website loaded in the web browser will either say ACCEPTED or DECLINED or ERROR. I need some code so that once the website has loaded it will search for 1 of them values. Jul 20, 2009I am trying to create a function that searches each line of a richtextbox and returns that row if one of many search phrases are found.The app works wonderfully when used with longer words or muli word phrases as the search criteria.The problem I have is if the search word/ criteria contains a small string such as bae or sp then I get alot of false positives. Anytime bae or sp is found within any word it returns the results.I need the function to stop looking within the words for results and instead look at the word as a whole for a match.Below you can see that I am taking each line of text in the richtextbox, removing most non-alpha numberic characters and replacing them with spaces.Then I have it remove any double spaces with single spaces.For the search term list I have it take the text before the delimiter;and do the same.Trouble I am having is,if the search term is SP and the search phrase is "This is a space shuttle lauch"it will return the sentence since the sentence contains the word "space" which starts with sp.[code]

Sep 30, 2011I have been searching all morning for a sample showing a simple "find" example for an ASP.NET Webform, where a "find" button is used to find a string in a Textbox, and then Highlight it, like Word does. The following VB6 code worked perfectly, but I couldn't find .Selstart or .SelLength properties in the Text property of the ASP.NET textbox.
